Corbyn, am I the only one?

Seriously, I think I'm the only one who thinks this guy is a massive kn*b and shouldn't be let anywhere near parliament. He seems hell-bent on destroying our countries economy and penalising anyone who works hard and ends up making a decent wage. His policies seem to want everyone to stay on one level. He's just chucking out policies that make no sense economically and otherwise.

And just to clarify I am a single mum, 24 year old student at university full time and I still think he's a complete idiot with ridiculous policies that want to drag everyone down to the same level rather than encouraging people to work their way up.

I know I won't be voting labour!!!!!!
I work hard for my money and I don't see why I should be investing it into 'benefits' for others!!!!
This country is just going wrong full stop. If Corbyn gets in i would rather live under Trump! (That's saying something)

OllyBJolly · 01/06/2017 18:32

What a bizarre post ! The "only one" when there are loads of threads on here mocking Corbyn, and many political threads with posts saying how much they despise.

Me, I think he's great. I'd love to see a Labour victory next Thursday.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 01/06/2017 18:34

OllyBJolly As there are against May and the Tory.

A lot of people on "benefits" work hard as well. This is the problem. A few people earn lots of money.
Lots of people earn much much less, so much less that they can't afford housing, transport, childcare, further education.

But we live in a democracy so if you disagree you can and vote for someone else.

Not disputing that. Just think it's odd for a poster to come on saying she must be the "only one" who thinks Corbyn is a knob when there's an echo chamber on here saying exactly that.

And yes lots of snash about the Tories and SNP too. So it would be odd if to say "Am I the only one to think Sturgeon is a knob" when lots of posters obviously think that. (I don't, btw!)

Do you work harder than everybody else then?
I really enjoy this narrative - everyone who is less well off than you is obviously lazy, feckless and stupid.
Cancer patients? Slackers!
The disabled? Shirkers!
People on welfare? Scroungers!
Face it love you got lucky If life is a lottery then you won it. Admit that you've been fortunate and put your hand in your pocket to help give a chance to those who have been less lucky than you.

OllyBJolly · 01/06/2017 19:08

Huge round of applause for JimmyGrimble. That so needs said.

123andBreathe · 01/06/2017 20:15

As an example jimmy and Olly

My DH will be voting Cons.

Higher rate taxpayer.

Got up at 4.30 to leave for work at 5am this morning. Just got back, on the phone as he walks in, will stop 10 mins for dinner, and then be back on phone/computer until at least 9.30 maybe 10. Quite hard work, surely?

Cancer patient - yes he ticks that box too. Just finished 12 rounds of chemo over 6 months, which he managed to work through too (albeit in a different way). He has private health insurance, so has saved the NHS £45000 so far in treatment, but if Labour get in he will be taxed on that too!

Disabled - does a child on the autistic spectrum count? Under the Labour government I volunteered to go in and help out at the school to free up a TA so my son could have an assistant, because otherwise he would have been disrupting the whole class, and there wasn't funding available for him. At the time DHwas just on a reasonable wage, and we made cutbacks to send him to a private school because nothing around us was suitable - ohh ticks another Labour box, tax the private school fees too. If we had sent him to an LEA approved boarding school it would have been just over £100000 a year. Paid for by the 'great British taxpayer'

Welfare, didn't claim anything we were 'entitled to'. (I HATE that word), we weren't 'rich' at the time as in the MN definition, but it wouldn't have sat right.

Is it any wonder some people don't want to vote Labour.

And as for all the tactical voters. Well here is a thought - actually vote for the party you want - because you may just shoot yourself in the foot!!!

Killdora · 01/06/2017 20:21

When people say that they work hard, and anyone with less than them or struggling doesn't, does it apply to them too?

So if there is someone much richer than you, you must be a lazy feckless drain.

After all, they put more in to the tax system than you. They are subsidising you because you haven't been clever enough to make even more money.

My aunt can't speak, move and has to eat mush (accident when she was a child)

And everyone always says 'oh we don't mean people like her, I don't mind paying for those people.'

I don't understand how anyone seemingly intelligent enough to make themselves a bit of cash, are unable to grasp something so simple.

They are the people these cuts are hurting, whether they are the ones you scorn or not, they are the ones being dehumanised and frightened.

And one day, you or someone you love may be one of them.

ArseOfInfinity · 01/06/2017 20:23

Looks a little like you are sneering at people on benefits there.

You were rich enough to be able to look down your nose and say you weren't taking any benefits. Bully for you.

Many people can't afford to be so noble.

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 01/06/2017 20:24

You are not the only one. I'm terrified he might get in.

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 01/06/2017 20:27

I really admire him. The anti corbyn bias in the media has been appalling, and if I read one more time "ehhhh it's a magical money tree with unicorns on" I'm going to puke. The labour manifesto has been fully costed, and it's been made clear where the money for investment in key services will come from.

Edincro · 01/06/2017 20:33

Majority of the people voting for labour have a chip on their shoulder.
I'm fed up of forking out for other people! I'm paying tax for services I'm not even using!!!

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 01/06/2017 20:42

You're paying taxes for services you're not even using? yeah well so am I, as in I'm working and not imminently retiring or planning on being too ill to work. But I have the forethought to realise that I will one day maybe need the support of the state, and also the compassion to want everyone to live a comfortable and enjoyable existence.
What services are you paying for that you "aren't even using?"

Edincro · 01/06/2017 20:43

If he came out to say my tax won't be funding methadone for the junkies..... then I might consider a vote.....
or that benefit money won't be allowed to get spent on cigarettes or alcohol for people with addiction problems then great!!!
Otherwise.... naaaah

Edincro · 01/06/2017 20:49

Well said 123andbreathe!

TheMonkeyAndThePlywoodViolin · 01/06/2017 20:49

He won't say that as he is not a Tory benefit basher.

123andBreathe · 01/06/2017 20:51

Arse

What can I say - your name is so apt!

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 01/06/2017 20:53

No he won't say that, as he's not a raging cunt

Edincro · 01/06/2017 20:54

Been jolly chatting to you, I must toddle off to drink my tea from the China cup and I don't want to burn the lobster......
(Judgemental arse)

123andBreathe well said.

ArseOfInfinity · 01/06/2017 21:02

123andBreathe what a magnificent reply, truly intelligent and well thought out.

Bravo.

Edincro · 01/06/2017 21:02

And just so you hate me that little more, my children go to a private school, I've used private health insurance which has saved members of my family and also saved the state money.
I have my own business and ALL of my employees are on the living wage AT least!

This reminds me of the Scottish referendum when each side were so bitter with one another. No one understands each other's point of view without verbally abusing the other side......

Killdora · 01/06/2017 21:05

123andBreathe oh my god the same as me!!!

Though I'm all that, and also am not a sun reading, benefits bashing twat.

So I guess I win. Smile
