Corbyn, am I the only one?

Seriously, I think I'm the only one who thinks this guy is a massive kn*b and shouldn't be let anywhere near parliament. He seems hell-bent on destroying our countries economy and penalising anyone who works hard and ends up making a decent wage. His policies seem to want everyone to stay on one level. He's just chucking out policies that make no sense economically and otherwise.

And just to clarify I am a single mum, 24 year old student at university full time and I still think he's a complete idiot with ridiculous policies that want to drag everyone down to the same level rather than encouraging people to work their way up.

Basically the companies are issuing the money they would have paid in tax to grow and recruit
In case anyone is in any doubt. ^ Is a lie and is very easily disproved by a quick google. Like what I just did.

Askyourself · 31/05/2017 23:51

Corbyn will take you back the winter of discontent, which under labour had strikes all over the country, holding the government to ransom. Labour under him is regressive not progressive.

I don't need google to prove or disprove, having worked for a variety of companies I've seen the expenditure. Look at the economic growth of small to mid companies, recruitment etc. They are not some conspiracy jimmy they are fact. Are you by any chance a holocost denying person too. That happened and is fact too. I'm sure you can find something on google to prove or disprove anything. Leave the socialist army blindly following what you've been told and open your eyes to the reality. It's not a conspiracy by the tories or the all powerful secret establishment. Work hard, go the extra mile, take your chances and re-invent yourself if needs be mad you'll always do alright under the capitalist model. Or sit around being a moody turd with your world is grey shade glasses on and funless life style. Socialists ffs about as useful as vegans. Medical experiments excluded 😂

cdtaylornats · 01/06/2017 00:00

How do you automate a hairdresser, a waitress, a builder etc out of existence

Service industries don't get automated they die out or lower their charges as the customers have less money.

Builders go because you get more prefabricated houses.

Fair play Garden Greek I think you got it right and glad your finding sensible logical human beings voting for needs to be and not some glossy theoretical future

Wow!! I'll take that in three sections if I may.

  1. You are presenting us with an anecdote and claiming it is a fact when I actually took the time to give you the actual figures.
  2. Why would you think that I am a holocaust denier? That is such a bizarre thing to say I am genuinely gobsmacked.
  3. I am not in fact a 'moody turd'. I am actually a very pleasant, non - vegan, non holocaust denying, fully functioning member of society.
I am a teacher though so with my professional hat on I would have to say 5/10 for effort 1/10 for content and as we're friends I don't think I'll mention the spelling. Take care love xx
JimmyGrimble · 01/06/2017 00:12

GardenGeek
Sorry I missed your question:
In terms of Brexit it is not a question of being progressive - Brexit is simply a fact and Labour and JC are pledged to bring us out of the EU. Where I would expect them to be 'progressive' is in their approach to talks. In that they would actually sit down and talk. Oh and listen. And try to get a deal. Not throw their toys out of the pram with a 'No deal is better than a bad deal'. No deal would cost us a fuckload of money.

AdultHumanFemale · 01/06/2017 00:12

Ah, OP, that's a pity. He speaks very highly of you.

eeek! And the grammar. Oh dear.
Not really your night is it?

Askyourself · 01/06/2017 00:22

Sorry jimmy I didn't realise you were a grammar nazi. I should have guessed your more in interested in showmanship and how things are being said, hence the love of Corbyn. I like the facts and details not the snake oil salesman SHITE spouted by Corbyn and his cronies. not my night? Well actually it was. We saw he total carnage of what a potential labour coalition would look like tonight. I could go on but I don't need to as still laughing

JimmyGrimble · 01/06/2017 00:37

No I disproved what you were saying by using the facts and then you went and got a bit cross and called me a holocaust denier and only good for medical experiments. That wasn't very kind now was it?
And it's fucking you're - a contraction of 'you' and 'are'.
I saw TM so scared of answering actual questions from the actual public that she didn't even bother turning up. Strong and stable? Or hiding under the bed?

DoctorTwo · 01/06/2017 05:01

May is so last month...

Mistigri · 01/06/2017 05:39

The point made by most economists, is that there simply isn't enough people earning above £100,000 to make raising their tax worth while. Raising the tax on wages under that would raise a fortune.

I am an economist.

It is true that raising wages on the very highest earners doesn't necessarily add much to the tax take because (a) there aren't many of them and (b) they are good at avoiding tax.

This means that governments who want to raise more revenue do need to look at other measures, eg Hammond's NI proposals (which were sensible) or raising corporation tax.

UK corporation tax is very low at 19%. US corporation tax is over 30%. In the EU, the two comparable sized economies (France and Germany) also have effective rates over 30% (in Germany, corporations pay both national and regional taxes).

Source: Deloitte.

corporation tax rate is over 30%. German corporation tax

Mistigri · 01/06/2017 05:42

Sorry for edit fail there. But the idea that Corbyn's corporation tax proposals are loony left territory is just laughable. Rates were far higher under that renowned loony left politician, Margeret Thatcher Grin.

Anyway looks like the OP didn't get the overnight message from party headquarters that May is U-turning on personal attacks - having realised that they are not working.

SuperBeagle · 01/06/2017 05:50

A man of principle. Grin

Maybe if you repeat it enough times, it'll come true.

SuperBeagle · 01/06/2017 05:54

Corporate tax is 27.5-30% here in Australia too, but they're reducing it because of the impact it's had on the viability of corporations, the appeal of outsourcing aspects of business such as the productions process in order to avoid tax, and the barrage of FDI which has taken place over the last 30+ years - companies which have taken advantage of tax loopholes (which, yes, exist in the UK too), and which send most of their profit offshore, benefiting the host country in employment only.

So no, implementing a corporate tax hike is not the answer.

megletthesecond · 01/06/2017 06:02

OP's not been back then Hmm .

TheMonkeyAndThePlywoodViolin · 01/06/2017 06:27

Even under Labour plans to raise it corporation tax would still be incredibly and competitvely low, so all this talk of companies fleeng the UK is a bit daft really. Where to? Places with a hgiher rate?

TheMonkeyAndThePlywoodViolin · 01/06/2017 06:29

As for whoever said you can't call Amber Rudd anything as her father died..many people's fathers have died due to Tory cuts. As proved by independent Oxford research.

TheMonkeyAndThePlywoodViolin · 01/06/2017 06:30

But Tory activists really do need to try a bit harder if wanting to whip up Corbyn hate

user1487175389 · 01/06/2017 06:35

He wants everyone stuck on one level? Are you on glue? How would this be worse than the tories relegating most of us to the slag heap while they live the life of Riley? Or are you kidding yourself you're one of the 1%?

And Corbyn's been a member of Parliament since 1983, you doughnut. Biscuit

user1496231209 · 01/06/2017 07:04

Apologies for my late reply aha didn't get a chance to get back on the computer yesterday.
I agree perhaps I was a little harsh with the kn*b comment and he most likely does have the best of intentions. However, I think a majority of his policies just make no sense and it worries me; especially as so many people in my age bracket have fallen for it without being practical and looking at the implications.
By constantly targetting the most well-off in the country they will simply change their spending habits or move abroad and our economy will take a huge hit.
Increasing the minimum wage to £10 an hour will hit small businesses incredibly hard and most likely cause an increase in unemployment.
He states he is going to pump huge amounts of money into just about every public sector but where is this money coming from? There's only so much you can raise through constantly taxing people. I also think its immoral to continue raising taxes on those who have worked incredibly hard to be earning a good wage. I think its awful to raise the inheritance tax when parents have again worked hard in order to pass on money/homes to their children.
Increasing free childcare to 30 hours for all children ages 2-4 years is just stupid and an unnescesay way to try and gain votes. 15 hours is more than enough for children and parents who dont work simply do not need the 30 hours unlike parents who struggle with childcare due to work.

So vote Tory then since you clearly are one? What is the point of this thread?

OhtoblazeswithElvira · 01/06/2017 16:00

What is the point of this thread?

The election is not far now. Every vote counts.
