MNers in Durham, Cornwall and Wiltshire - how's your unitary authority?

Campaign in my county to move to a unitary authority as opposed to county council plus local councils. I am suspicious of this, though I can imagine that they have to do something to prevent the imminent collapse of the social safety net and prevent pensioners dying in the street to increase efficiency.

How was the move to unitary authorities in your area?

Cheshire East is a unitary authority too. I don't think it's gone down very well.

I'm assuming you're in Oxford(shire)? Am incredibly suspicious and though not automatically ill-favoured towards unitary authorities in this case I am very opposed.

Why this case particularly Commander?

Bumping to see if anyone else in these counties is around.

Cornwall sucks. It was much better when it was individual LAs. Plymouth works because it is for a much smaller area, but Cornwall can't seem to get their act together on stuff like rubbish collection etc. Everything seems to be a money making exercise now with them.
