Seriously asking...

OP posts:
LowDudgeon · 11/02/2017 16:51

answers to "unanswered questions" published the following day

NB 'A group of Jewish critics of Israel today wrote a letter to the Jewish Chronicle in support of Mr Corbyn.
'"There is something deeply unpleasant and dishonest about your McCarthyite guilt by association technique,” they said.'

LowDudgeon · 11/02/2017 16:53

Most of the alleged "anti-Semitism" connected with Corbyn is nothing of the kind - it's anti-Israeli Govt

Thanks, Bert Grin

Speakingmymind · 11/02/2017 17:07

I love him. With him in charge Labour are unelectable. Result!

TSSDNCOP · 11/02/2017 17:09

Are there many labour MP's left that haven't served in his shadow cabinet? He seems to rattle through them and was almost dismissive of the fact when interviewed last week. Isn't the point to be building a serious shadow cabinet to attempt to get re-elected? Or have I missed the point?

AllThePrettySeahorses

I doubt the torygraph links are unbiased

AllThePrettySeahorses · 11/02/2017 17:22

Biased doesn't mean wrong. Every paper has an editorial bias.

I don't believe in guilt by association generally either but sometimes there's a bit too much association.

notangelinajolie · 11/02/2017 17:30

I like him and I think he is the best leader by a mile that Labour has had since Clement Attlee. I am a Labour voter who voted for Brexit but I'm not holding that against him. I think he genuinely believes the UK would be better in the EU and I respect that. Labour will still be getting my vote at the next GE.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 11/02/2017 17:37

Completely disagree.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 11/02/2017 17:39

Oh and do you think writing a 'whitewash' paper then giving the author and honours is ok.

expatinscotland · 11/02/2017 17:42

'But I can-and will- challenge unsupported allegations stated as fact. Particularly if they are potentially. libelous.'

Oh, back off with the threats. There is support for this belief. You don't agree, that's fine. Rant away, you do it so well. He's a cunt, too.

RortyCrankle · 11/02/2017 21:17

BertrandRussell
Saying someone is a terrorist supporter is not an opinion.

That's a bit silly because in MY opinion he is a terrorist supporter/ sympathizer and nothing you say will change that.

Sigh

CornetBlues · 12/02/2017 10:06

I can't vote for him, why should I?

I'd never make the list for an invitation to tea.

OMGyoumustbekidding · 21/02/2017 23:52

When partly leaders showed tax returns, i read an article which said he showed his tax return and apparently it was submitted on paper and late leaving him with a fine. That might be ok for your average builder, but not ok if you want to run the country.
He swerves seats on trains and sits on the floor. He may as well have rolled out a little meditation mat and sparked up a joint.
I can't stand his nearest and dearest Dianne Abbot who always dodges the question and gives vague answers.
The front of his house makes it look like he doesn't give a sh*t about much really.
He is anti trident and anti royal (neither sit well with me)

However. ...

I have to give the labour party total respect for respecting and upholding the result of the EU referendum. This alone has won him back quite a bit of respect. If they can prove to me that they uphold the principles of democracy then they are closer to getting my vote (if they change the tune on trident and the queen and stop bickering amongst themselves).

niceguy2 · 22/02/2017 09:49

I don't dislike the guy. He seems like the sort of chap I'd enjoy a pint with and a chinwag.

He seems to be an honest politician compared to the rest.

HOWEVER.

None of that makes him a good leader and I don't think he has the right credentials or personality to lead. He doesn't command the respect of his own party so his chances of commanding the respect of the nation is even less.

His own record of voting against his own party also makes it incredibly hypocritical for him to expect his own MP's to vote with him if they disagree.

Lohengrin · 22/02/2017 10:03

Because he is not up to the job - and lacks the self awareness to recognise this.
His incompetence was a major reason for the Brexit result - with core Labour voters switching to UKIP, despite this not being in their best interests.
His incomptence will lead to another 5 years of Tory government.
His incomptence means we have no functioning opposition.
Politics is all about winning and holding on to power so you can implement your policies. If you never win power you never get to do what you want so your existence is pretty pointless.

niceguy2 · 22/02/2017 10:08

Yep. I would have said a few years ago that I was a natural Tory supporter. But nowadays you can't seem to fit a piece of paper inbetween them & UKIP which frankly scares the crap out of me.

We need a strong opposition now more than ever and Labour have basically imploded. The Lib Dems are too weak after getting into bed with the Tories.

Right now it seems we're destined for another 5 years of Tories. Heaven help us.

Lemen · 26/02/2017 06:43

For me, it was the moment that a Labour party canvasser knocked on the door a few weeks ago. At first, I felt admiration for his willingness to do something so public spirited. Then it hit me - he was asking me to vote for a party led by Jeremy Corbyn and I felt insulted! Maybe irrational, but when I imagined putting my x on a ballot paper for Corbyn, that was what I felt.
Apparently, that was what the people knocking on the doors in Copeland were witnessing too.
We need a credible opposition but JC is incapable of leading it. So he ought to go, but he won't.

Tanith · 27/02/2017 07:51

I never understand this anti-Semitism attack, to be honest. Many of the Labour party are Jewish; Gerald Kaufmann, the longest serving MP in parliament until his death yesterday, was Jewish; their last leader was Jewish for Heaven's sake!

Seems to me that other parties have far bigger messes in their houses to clear up in that respect.

BakeOffBiscuits · 27/02/2017 08:07

Do you really need to ask OP? It's pretty obvious!

He's a principled person but an incompetent leader
He doesn't have the backing of his own MPs
Most importantly he rolls over and accepts what the Govt do/say.

its all so frustrations as the Torys can just get on and do what the hell they like.

samG76 · 27/02/2017 10:21

Tanith - no-one is disputing that there are Jews in the Labour party - the issue is that Corbyn seems to have difficulty with them. hence Chakrabati Report, widely seen in the Jewish community and elsewhere as a whitewash.

Also, his appearances on Iranian television, his fondness for radical Islamist groups, Sinn Fein, Chavez, his invitation for tea in the Commons to someone who accused Jews of baking gentile children into their bread.

Unsurprising that support for JC in the Jewish community is well below 10% (yes, I know most of those 10% will be on MN....)

Borisrules · 04/03/2017 22:52

Because he's completely unelectable.
Modern democracy works best with a functioning opposition. We don't even have that.,
Fortunately a lot of Tory voters will be put off by completely unopposed right wing"ism"
Eventually the PLP will ditch Jezza and the whole sorry thing will go full circle.... the question is ..... how long will that take....?

Slipperyknickers · 05/03/2017 23:22

I mentioned about his last tax return faux pas but bloody hell. This guy never gets it right does he

www.google.co.uk/amp/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/39175570

He has accede tally missed out hos MP salary? WTF Grin

Oh yeah it makes total sense to vote for him to run the country (not)

Tanith · 07/03/2017 16:11

No, he hasn't.
The queried amount was not his MP's salary, it was what he's entitled to as Leader of the Opposition. He listed it under Pensions and Benefits because that's how Revenue and Customs classify it.
