More on Trump

It is a Trump world and as the Modi saying goes

“Aab Ki Baar Trump Sarkar”

and as the Stump for Trump Sisters say

"Get on the Trump Train or get the hell out of the way"

Rock'n'roll

I doubt there's many lurkers left. Anyway, even if it did get reported and deleted, we'd still get a chance to see it before it goes poof.

claig · 20/12/2016 13:23

'I've been on claig's threads since day one just about..'

From right when Trump first appeared on the world stage. There have been tonnes of Trump threads started by me and they have been a laugh and have also explained exactly why he won and was going to win, because all of the political issues that concern the people as opposed to the elites were analysed and discussed and the entire global populist movement's support was explained.

We finally have a politician who speaks for us - the silent majority, the people called Deplorables by the elites

and Trump said

"I am your voice"

and with Trump, the President of the United States, as our voice then what Muse sang will always remain true

"They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious"

and the Tony Blair Destitute won't stop Brexit.

Bertrand knows I am joking

Not according to her, claig.

And where the hell do you get off claiming that you know why I come on these threads? You couldn't be more wrong.

BertrandRussell · 20/12/2016 13:28

"Bertrand knows I am joking"
I don't, you know.

And I have found that particular form of bullying -where the bully says something unpleasant, then passes it off as a joke, to howls of mirth from their sycophants--deeply unpleasant since I first observed it in the playground..

But I have not and will not report.

Roussette · 20/12/2016 13:28

Yeah claig got it.... you're a guru with a crystal ball Grin

DeepanKrispanEven · 20/12/2016 13:28

Even if say things inside the guidelines the losers will at some point report a post they feel is offensive

But what does that matter, missswatch? If it's within the guidelines, nothing will happen. Or is the reality that you are dying to go outside the guidelines?

The issue here is that people who whinge on about political correctness keep making dark hints about how they are being prevented from saying what they want to say, but can never point to anything that actually prevents them from saying something that is within the law or the rules of whatever organisation they are dealing with. It's very reminiscent of all those idiots who claim that Christmas is banned or they're not allowed to follow the Christian faith.

DeepanKrispanEven · 20/12/2016 13:31

The losing leftist lurkers will report us

Looking at Rebecca's post, it's at least as likely that reports come from right wing lurkers.

claig · 20/12/2016 13:31

'And where the hell do you get off claiming that you know why I come on these threads? You couldn't be more wrong.'

Because that was my impression when I saw that you ask for every comment of yours to be "answered" again and again when often they are very minor points and side issues to the larger issues. I can't answer every comment and nor can South or Misss or Chris or any of the Trump supporters because there are many more Establishment supporters.

Focusing on minor points and repeatedly demanding "answers" and hectoring and asking for "withdrawals" of remarks and "apologies" don't help discussion and just look like point scoring to me.

On previous threads, I have been called all sorts of names and I have never asked for a "withdrawal" and "apology", I have just said what I think of those posters and their techniques to end free discussion.

'Yeah claig got it.... you're a guru with a crystal ball '

Thank you. What took you so long? It was all laid out and explained in the threads, plain as the nose on Blair's face.

Disagreement in it's mildest form gets censored. It happens here. It happens on Reddit. It happens on YouTube. It happens on Twitter. It happens on Facebook. It happens on Wikipedia. The list goes on

claig · 20/12/2016 13:34

'"Bertrand knows I am joking"
I don't, you know.'

OK, I thought you were just trying to be clever by calling me "a bully", but I see you believe that. Then I think I was wrong when I joked about you.

It's not just the left that are appalled by Trump. Plenty of centre and right leaning people also see him for the dangerous, manipulative, thin skinned, impulsive, nasty bullying liar he really is.

BertrandRussell · 20/12/2016 13:39

"Disagreement in it's mildest form gets censored. It happens here."

Utter, utter bollocks.

claig · 20/12/2016 13:39

'Plenty of centre and right leaning people also see him for the dangerous, manipulative, thin skinned, impulsive, nasty bullying liar he really is.'

Absolutely and as I have explained, our entire political class thought that which shows how "out of touch" they all are. Trump defied all the odds and all the "experts" and won in the biggest upset in the US's 240 year history and our entire political class dislike him and many of them actively insulted him, but milions and millions of ordinary people in America and all across Europe love him.

Denial is a powerful tool

DeepanKrispanEven · 20/12/2016 13:40

I don't ever "demand" answers, claig, as usual you are misrepresenting me. I do occasionally draw attention to points you or others are ignoring and on which it would be helpful to the discussion to have a response. It's interesting that you find it inconvenient to be asked to answer to the extent that you are complaining about it now.

And when you deliberately attack someone and lie about them, how on earth is it hectoring or bullying to ask you to withdraw and apologise? It's what the mature person would do. Frankly that accusation on its own is absolutely characteristic of a bullying response, in the same way as when you try to pass off your attacks as "jokes".

Posts like that one call to mind strongly the Nabokov saying - "Cet animal est très méchant: Quand on l'attaque, il se défend." The essence of discussion threads is that people are allowed to disagree with you, to question what you say, and to call out things that are manifestly incorrect, and that if they do that they aren't trying to show how clever they are, or bullying you, or doing anything other than joining in the discussion. If you are unpleasant about them, they are entitled to defend themselves. You really need to learn to live with it.

squishysquirmy · 20/12/2016 13:41

The "disagreement" that gets censored on Wikipedia - would this be factually incorrect statements that get removed? Because "incorrect" is not the same as "politically incorrect". Unless it is the same to you, which would explain a lot actually - Trump talking about the "freedom to say politically incorrect things" then becomes a handy euphemism for lying without fear of being challenged (because in his ideal world the press would be censored.)

Kaija · 20/12/2016 13:42

Yes, the irony of this "the left love censorship" shtick is that of course the Trumpers are enthusiastically tumbling down a path towards censorship and press suppression such as we haven't known in the west in our lifetimes.

You think you don't have freedom of speech now? Wait and see how it looks in a year or two. Or look at Trump's idol and official friend of Tillerson, Putin, and what happens to journalists who criticise him.

Trumpers are very clearly not interested in freedom of speech. They are interested only in destroying those norms of society which they feel are preventing them from fully taking advantage of their privilege. The alt-right game is to say something racist, misogynist, homophobic etc to prompt a reaction so that they can squeal "we were only joking - stop trying to censor us" and repeating as nauseam, so that the boundaries of acceptability are ground away and shifted further and further into what would have been thought of as hate speech not so long ago. Ultimately it is about one group exerting power over another. Nothing to do with free speech: they are happy enough to see the free press dismantled in Russia, and denigrated and threatened (the first step) in the US.

DeepanKrispanEven · 20/12/2016 13:42

Disagreement in it's mildest form gets censored. It happens here.

Examples? I see uncensored disagreement all over these threads, particularly on the Politics board.

Kaija · 20/12/2016 13:42

"Disagreement in it's mildest form gets censored"

Here? How?

Kaija · 20/12/2016 13:44

"- Trump talking about the "freedom to say politically incorrect things" then becomes a handy euphemism for lying without fear of being challenged (because in his ideal world the press would be censored.)"

Yes, exactly this.

squishysquirmy · 20/12/2016 13:44

And if you keep making the same vague insinuations over and over, posters may keep asking you to elaborate. If you want the questions to stop, provide answers.

Missswatch · 20/12/2016 13:45

Take a look through some historic threads. Especially if a male poster posts on MN

squishysquirmy · 20/12/2016 13:45

Maybe you should check out the AIBU boards if you want to see some real disagreement!

Kaija · 20/12/2016 13:45

I've been here long enough misswatch. Never seen it happen.
