The last one filled up quickly.

Rousette, you may be right. Ive just had a quick scroll and I may have confused threads. So happy to apols for that.

"Besides which forums are all about free speech and allowing anyone to chip in."

I absolutely agree with that, but theres chipping in and theres a targeted trolling of individual posters. This is the sort of shit I got when I refused to engage with their persistant goading.

"You need to come out of your safe space and into the real world, Chris.
The world where, yes, not all women nod and smile along with you, but where normal people get on with it...."

Yes I do have a safe space, and they can fuck right off. Aint free speech great.

Kaija · 01/12/2016 20:32

"Thyeve been asked over and over again, start your own 'we hate trump' thread. Theres loads of supporters and materieal out there for that.
But this is thread 3 of post election comment, from clearly a Trump supporter, and this is what you get"

Jeez. What happened to free speech already? I thought that's what the Trumpers were all about.

bertsdinner · 01/12/2016 20:35

I read these threads with interest

Kaija · 01/12/2016 20:36

Chris, that line about safe spaces and getting on with it was originally from a Trump supporter in response to criticism of Trump's remarks about women.

bertsdinner · 01/12/2016 20:37

Sorry, pressed too soon, meant to say I read these threads with interest, not sure about Trump, he makes me a bit nervous, but I enjoy your posts, Claig.

Roussette · 01/12/2016 20:39

Thank you for the apology chris. It's just that I've been here from more or less day 1, weeks before the election and not seen what you say.

And I'm sorry Chris, but what you quoted is really not that bad surely? This is not trolling. This is disagreeing with an opinion. Mentioning no names within the donald love camp, I've seen far far worse - patronising and sarcasm and more.

claig · 01/12/2016 20:46

Thanks bertsdinner Smile

Free speech doesn't mean that no-one is allowed to challenge the things you say, don't be so ridiculous Chris.
This is a discussion forum not an echo chamber.

If your arguments are sound then they will stand up to a little probing.
If someone posts a lie, I will call them out on it.
If someone's posts are deliberately misleading (like your recent "no-fly zone" "WWIII" ones) then I will point that out.
And if someone uses a parenting website as a platform to spread propaganda and conspiracy theories then I absolutely will respond.

Yeah, we've made the odd joke but I've haven't made any personal attacks - feel free to report my posts if you think I have.

Chris1234567890 · 01/12/2016 20:50

"Chris, that line about safe spaces and getting on with it was originally from a Trump supporter in response to criticism of Trump's remarks about women."

Complete and utter bollocks. Squishy a trump supporter? Bullshit. About a Debate about Trumps remarks on women? Bullshit. But there you are, you got me to engage Kaija. Twisting bullshit from you as usual.

squishysquirmy · 01/12/2016 20:56

I made that comment Chris.

It was after Missswatch made the comment: "They need to come out their safe spaces and into the real world. The place where yes, nasty words get said and normal people get on with it".

I probably shouldn't have, but I'd just had a load of unfounded smears made against me and I lost my cool for a moment.

squishysquirmy · 01/12/2016 20:57

And I don't see how my comment was worse than the ones you and some of your fellow Trumpers have made towards us.

Kaija · 01/12/2016 20:59

Thank you for clarifying, squishy.

You may have missed the earlier comment, Chris.

GlassCircles · 01/12/2016 21:45

Seriously Claig - was this ever meant to be a Trump worshipping thread Confused

Is anyone who disagrees with you really not welcome? I genuinely had the impression that you enjoyed the debate and sharing your views with a wide audience, albeit often a non-appreciative one.

If I am wrong, may I respectfully suggest that you title your threads accordingly, perhaps in the manner of the religious prayer threads where non-sympathisers aren't welcome.

claig · 01/12/2016 22:11

'Is anyone who disagrees with you really not welcome?'

I haven't said anyone is not welcome. I was joking about Oxford's post. I thought it was very funny "extras from The Hills Have Eyes" Smile

I'm used to abuse and attacks. I don't like them but I can take them. I won't reply to Alexei because I don't like to waste my time writing out answers to find that I am then insulted by being called a pro Russian troll. It is like offering someone your hand and then being spat at. I try not to personally attack a poster and call them stupid or a troll or racist etc. the strongest term of abuse I have used after being called a "white supremacist", "fascist", a "racist etc is to call the poster a Blairite, which I agree is pretty insulting.

It is better if when someone posts a long answer and has spent time doing it, not to just abuse them with a a snide statement or insult them because it gets tiring and makes it not worth posting.

claig · 01/12/2016 22:13

GlassCircles, I like your posts because although we disagree, you don't insult anyone

Newsnight on now about Austria and Italy. Populist rebellions gaining pace. EU Establishment under immense pressure from the people.

OP posts:
claig · 01/12/2016 22:44

Italian woman says "we have a political class who wants to sell out to Europe to the banks and the financial system"

That is exactly the same as we had with all of our idiots in the political class until we beat them in Brexit. Of course most of the 657 or however many there are in the House of Commons still want to sell out and don't want to listen to the people.

There is no way the EU Establishment and the bankers can survive this worldwide populist rebellion. Too many people now think they are all sellouts and servants of the banks.

OP posts:
DetMcnulty · 01/12/2016 23:02

But trump is planning on cutting bank regulation! How is that going to defeat them?

claig · 01/12/2016 23:09

I don't know. Trump wants them to make profit and lend more to businesses. He says he needs to cut the regulations to decrease their capitalisation rules etc so that they can more easily lend. I don't know how he will do it or what he will do, but Trump fans trust him to get the wheels turning. If he doesn't, he will soon be found out and the public will get even more angry. Right wing analysts are saying if Trump messes up and does nothing different to now, then the country will probably turn left to a Sanders type solution. Something has to change, if Trump just maintains the status quo then he will fall out of favour fast because Trump fans voted for him because they trust that he, as a businessman, can sort things out.

OP posts:
claig · 01/12/2016 23:15

Trump gas picked General "Mad Dog" Mattis as Secretary of Defense. A good choice from what I have heard about him.

OP posts:
DetMcnulty · 01/12/2016 23:18

Ah, more profit for banks, they must be trembling. As much as I like your posts, I can never agree with your faith in trump. Still hoping you re right and I'm wrong though.

Kaija · 01/12/2016 23:35

Nobody called you a white supremacist, Claig, although you keep repeating it. I asked you the question because you have written many many posts in support of Trump, probably more than all other MN posters put together, and he is a close associate of white supremacists (call them the alt-right if you prefer them under that cover), as well as making racist remarks himself.

You have asserted that Trump is not a racist and that his support from the KKK and American Nazi Party is irrelevant. I do not think it is irrelevant unfortunately, far from it.

This is not a personal attack on you, or a smear. It is simply a refusal to allow this issue to be buried amidst the pretence that Trump is for "the people" and therefore immune from criticism.

claig · 01/12/2016 23:37

Trump wants America to be rich and corporations to be rich and banks to make buckets of money and all the businesses to make jobs for Americans. He is not a Bernie Sanders socialist who believes in hitting the rich and bankers in order to redistribute it to the people. Trump fans were mainly right wing, they didn't expect redistribution. But what they do want is jobs and increased wages and that is why they liked Trump, a can-do businessman rather than a useless politcian in the pockets of globalist corporate bosses who are wedded to offshoring jobs.

Today, Trump has threatened US corporations that if they leave the US there will be "consequences". That is what the working people who voted for Trump want, for him to get tough and stand up for US people's interests rather than globalist interests. If Trump can't get the businesses to change via his bullying style, then he will fail rapidly and people will think he is a waste of time.

He always said he would pick teh best business people to run things, so it doesn't matter that they are rich, but the people don't want Establishment servants because everybody knows they are useless and can't get anything done. His Secretary of State choice will be interesting because it is looking like he will pick a useless Establishment person and that is not a good choice.

OP posts:
claig · 01/12/2016 23:39

Kaija, go ahead and call Trump a fascist and racist, I don't care, but don't smear me with it or imply that I am or support that. You have followed me on many threads with your nasty posts implying that and that I am a pro Putin troll.

OP posts:
claig · 01/12/2016 23:41

'It is simply a refusal to allow this issue to be buried amidst the pretence that Trump is for "the people" and therefore immune from criticism.'

Criticise Trump and not me about racism and "white supremacists".
