The last one filled up quickly.

More discussion on the significance of Trump, Trumpism and the Trumpsters and what it all means for Blairites.

Jon Snow does the same "shouting act" to politicians from all over the political spectrum not just Farage, Claig. It's not like an interview for a church newsletter.

claig · 01/12/2016 12:01

Don't worry, squishysquirmy, you're right. There will never be wars based on lies, no danger of another one, it didn't happen in Iraq, the "journalists" reported on the truth before it had happened and prevented it, they gave the warmongers "a hard time".

claig · 01/12/2016 12:04

'Jon Snow does the same "shouting act" to politicians from all over the political spectrum '

Absolutely, that is his forte, his shtick, his act. It is all fake. Instead of shouting at people to pretend he is being "objective" why doesn't he listen a bit more and interview in a considered manner, with perceptive questions, so that the people don't have to watch "Punch and Judy" politics which is fake and conceals the truth?

OP posts:
squishysquirmy · 01/12/2016 12:04

There have been plenty of wars based on lies. I just don't see how appointing an even bigger liar (and an impulsive, thin-skinned one at that) is supposed to be our best hope for world peace.

claig · 01/12/2016 12:07

Over a million people died, Isis was a result of it, but there was a Chilcott Inquiry and Blair got a "hard time", and he has done a hand gesture, dusted himself down and now he is making a return to frontline politics because he says that Corbyn is a "nutter" nd Theresa May is a "lightweight". So everything is hunky dory again.

OP posts:
squishysquirmy · 01/12/2016 12:07

"...why doesn't he listen a bit more and interview in a considered manner..." Because that would be more like a politician's monologue, not a challenging interview. Do you think that's what Trumps vision is for the future of journalism? Him delivering his opinions without any difficult questions?

claig · 01/12/2016 12:09

' I just don't see how appointing an even bigger liar (and an impulsive, thin-skinned one at that) is supposed to be our best hope for world peace.'

I have tried to explain it on these threads, but if you think Hillary Clinton would be better when the Gren Part's Dr Jill Stein said that Hillary is more dangerous than Trump because she is likely to lead us into a nuclear war, then that's fine, we are all free to disagree.

claig · 01/12/2016 12:12

'Do you think that's what Trumps vision is for the future of journalism? Him delivering his opinions without any difficult questions?'

Unlike Hillary Clinton who was too scared to appear on Fox News for over a year and only went on once for a softball interview, Trump was never off the media on all channels including on the comedy shows which took the piss out of him. Trump is so far above "the room full of liars" he doesn't care, he is so unpolitically correct that they don't scare him at all, he can take their questions all day and night.

OP posts:
claig · 01/12/2016 12:16

'Because that would be more like a politician's monologue, not a challenging interview. '

No, Jon Snow doesn't do challenging interviews. He is an actor, there to give the illusion that he is being "objective". He doesn't ask the real questions about Isis and Syria because it would reveal the entire scam.

Many years later, he will shout about what really went on in Syria, just as he will do about Chilcott now, but not at the time over Syria because he can't.

OP posts:
squishysquirmy · 01/12/2016 12:21

"Trump was never off the media on all channels...." Yes, manipulating the attention that controversial statements get in order to increase his exposure. Then as soon as he got the power he wanted all along, he called them into a room to shout at them, quite possibly in an attempt to intimidate the press. Hmm.

claig · 01/12/2016 12:23

Absolutely, that is what Trump does. He knows they are "a room full of liars" and he is not scared to tell them to their face, that is why their bosses as so frightened of Trump. Their game is up. The truth will out.

OP posts:
claig · 01/12/2016 12:24

And he defied all the liars by saying

"They want to start WWIII over Syria. Give me a break"

They can't stand him for that.

hi again
Claig, I've had a chance to listen to that

tbh I remain very confused by the support for Trump. I agree that there are a squillion problems with our systems, with globalisation, with mainstream media etc. I do not believe that Trump, who has benefited enormously from all those things, is interested in dismantling anything - well, apart from Roe vs Wade, as part of his rampant misogyny problem.

He might also reduce immigration but I think there will be a limit to how much he wants to tackle that - and globalisation - because frankly the pockets of he and his ilk have benefited so much from it.

tbh this thread is probably a bit too surreal for me to follow - politics really has gone beyond parody. It is weird because I've been interested in politics all my life and active in local politics but I now think that I have to drop the lot because....I have no idea wtf is going on frankly. Well, at a local level I do, but I'll have to stick to that.

Thank goodness I don't have children. Times have not been great recently for most of us but I suspect they are about to get a hell of a lot worse, especially for non-white women like myself.

claig · 01/12/2016 12:39

'I suspect they are about to get a hell of a lot worse'

Trump tweeted the other day after the Thanksgiving Holiday

"Hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving. But get ready, our country is in big trouble!"

The real top people know what is going on and what is probably coming. Only Trump can sort it out, but it won't be easy. Don't believe the liars on the media about Trump being "racist", or the Oxbridge graduates at the Guardian who stoke divide and rule race hate by pretending that Trump's victory is a "whitelash" etc, it is all lies to fool the people by an elite who are losing power all across Europe and America

The chickens are coming home to roost for all their failed and corrupt policies. All we can hope is that the top people, now Trump and his team, can sort it out with the least amount of chaos and damage.

Carry on doing what you are doing at a local level. There is nothing any of us can do about what happens at the top level. All Jon Snow's shouting is just an act and has no effect whatsoever. It's Trump vs Soros and whichever one wins will determine the future of the entire world.

The media will tell you that Trump is terrible, but think about it and you may see that they are "a room full of liars" as Trump said.

" .....just as he will do about Chilcott now, but not at the time...."
What, like this debate from 2002 which showed both sides?
www.channel4.com/programmes/war-on-iraq-which-side-are-you-on

Every lie you tell Claig can be disproved with the tiniest bit of googling.

Are there serious problems in the world? Yes.
Is there a history of lies and corruption? Yes.
Are Trump and the rising populist movements across Europe the answer? Hell no.

GlassCircles · 01/12/2016 12:40

that is why their bosses as so frightened of Trump. Their game is up. The truth will out.

You seem to think they are frightened of him because he is domineering and has something over on them (exactly what, beyond calling them idiots and puppets, isn't terribly clear). Unlikely, they are grown ups too - Trump isn't some kind of big bad Daddy, although his followers like to think of him in this way.

Do you not think that they are more likely to be disturbed by the fact that he's patently interested in undermining press freedom to his own ends?

squishysquirmy · 01/12/2016 12:46

Lorelei, I don't know you and you have every reason to ignore me but please don't stop being involved in politics. I don't know if we share the same views - it's very likely that we don't - but what the world needs right now, more than ever, is more nuance, more people like yourself who can appreciate that not everything is black and white. Anyone who claims that the do know exactly what is going on right know is either lying or wrong. The last thing we need is sensible people (from across the political spectrum) dropping out. Flowers

claig · 01/12/2016 12:47

'What, like this debate from 2002 which showed both sides?'

Don't you understand that it is a game? It had zero effect, zero effect on Blair, of course they have to show both sides to fool the people that it is not all a stitchup, a Wikileaks conspiracy to rig the whole thing. Of course Jon Snow has to shout so that the people think he is really, really angry and somebody is giving the liars hell.

'You seem to think they are frightened of him because he is domineering and has something over on them (exactly what, beyond calling them idiots and puppets,'

He has power over them. he can look into teh corruption that some of their bosses and corporations may possibly be involved in. He calls them "idiots" to make the people laugh. they are not scared of his namecalling, they are scared of his power because he knows their bosses game.

'Do you not think that they are more likely to be disturbed by the fact that he's patently interested in undermining press freedom to his own ends?'

No, he called them a "room full of liars", he says they are a "disgrace", not because they are a free press, but because they tell "lies". What they fear is that they will no longer be able to get away with their "lies".

OP posts:
squishysquirmy · 01/12/2016 12:52

Oh yes, it's all a huge organised conspiracy involving vast numbers of conspirators.....
... Or, the world is a chaotic place where mistakes can have huge, unforeseen consequences; the facts aren't always clear to everyone until much later; and global politics is an incredibly complex, closely connected system with all sorts of ideologies, motivations and personalities colliding together in unpredictable ways. Occams razor.

Southallgirl · 01/12/2016 13:03

The terrorists thought they could bring about another Arab Spring in Egypt but got stopped dead by el-Sisi who declared the Muslim Brotherhood to be a terrorist organisation.

They are in Syria now, and I think they may try Jordan at some stage once IS has recruited more Useful Idiots and once financial aid is established with backers. They have vast amounts of drug money, but will need more.

But Jordan has a very good airforce and excellent relations with the West. What the terrorists dont like is that within Jordan there co-exists perfectly well its Christian minority, which of course IS wants expunged from the ME, as well as all sects of Islam.

GlassCircles · 01/12/2016 13:06

He has power over them. he can look into teh corruption that some of their bosses and corporations may possibly be involved in.

There are obviously large sections of the MSM which are far from beyond reproach (you only have to think of Murdoch and Dacre - although Trump probably likes Dacre, doesn't he Hmm )

But you also have to ask WHY he is so interested in blackmailing the press - could it be so that they don't delve too deeply into his own murky doings?

claig · 01/12/2016 13:06

'Oh yes, it's all a huge organised conspiracy involving vast numbers of conspirators.....'

Oh yes. That is what Trump said in the best speech of his that I posted earlier in the thread.

"our system is rigged, it is rigged
...
You know it, I know it and they know it, and near enough the whole world knows it"

It is not "rigged" by chance, by coincidence, it is "rigged" deliberately and for the benefit of the riggers who rip off the people and as Trump says "do not have your interests at heart"

"You know it, I know it and they know it"

when he says "You", he means Trump fans, not Jon Snow et al, who are clueless.

OP posts:
Southallgirl · 01/12/2016 13:10

Trump has been in business 50 years. This means - like all businessmen - he knows things about many of the people whose existence we know nothing of, he knows what drives them and what type of information they can be trusted with. He's got the skinny on all of them.

claig · 01/12/2016 13:11

'although Trump probably likes Dacre, doesn't he '

Trump likes Katie Hopkins, and rightly so, but I doubt he knows who the hell Dacre is. Trump is dealing at the top, top levels - Katie Hopkins he knows, and he has probably heard of Bliar, and he loves Farage, but that is probably about it.

'But you also have to ask WHY he is so interested in blackmailing the press - could it be so that they don't delve too deeply into his own murky doings?'

No, because they are liars. He is not "blackmailing" them, only letting them know that he is onto their lies in what he called "the room full of liars"
