A parallel thread to the other one that is running.

So far early voting is running at a record high. Looks like they are favouring Clinton at present. High Latino turnout. Overall the polls have tightened though and I think that many are in their margin of error.

OMG.
Trump has been declared winner.
Shock

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 09/11/2016 07:48

Trump has appeared on stage

I have had to mute the telly

Gutted

Not that it really matters to me personally of course i am just very sad that Trump won...not that the republicans won. Any other candidates and i probably wouldnt have paid any attention

I have been watching this with mounting disbelief everytime he opens his mouth and every time i see that his highly qualified female opponent damned for being just as bad as him with no evidence

Still ....you reap what you sew...isnt that the phrase?

Right I'm off to bed, I am going to have one last sleep before having to wake up to reality tomorrow.

One of the most depressing days in a long time.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/11/2016 08:13

I'm so sorry Hear.

I've watched on and off during the night. Bitterly disappointed obviously

The pic shows how little power he will actually have, so hopefully the "seismic change" that everyone talks about, won't be too damaging for the US and for the world.

My DH (who is a very wise man Smile and is a man of few words) summed it up in the succinct way only he can do...

"Well, they've made their bed, they will now have to lie in it"

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 09/11/2016 08:19

Its a bit of a shitty sysytem

Democrats 47.3%

Republicans 47.9%

So far

Its a win but either way it would only be by the tiniest margin

And people are talking about a landslide. Reminds me of the "the people have spoken" phrase

I am speechless, almost. It's probably the election that's drawn the most attention here in the UK and with good reason.

He was relatively conciliatory in the start of his speech. But how this can happen.... I too get that people are disappointed with their standard of living and with politicians living some other kind of life. But surely - just like Brexit - this is actually going to make it all significantly worse.

HearTheThunderRoar · 09/11/2016 08:34

Sigh.

However, like Obama said, the sun will still rise.

Everyone around the world are all in the same boat.

Thank you bread , for such a good thread. I could see what was coming at 2.30 so slept. And so it is.

Thanks, folks, at least posting on here stopped me gnawing my fingers to the bone! Grin

The day before the election, I said:

" of Jon Stewart talking about why no-one should vote for Trump is absolutely hilarious.

But the thought of a Trump presidency - just on the evidence from this 5 minutes - is also extremely frightening!

I would not be surprised if he either already has a list - or he'll order the FBI to compile one from day 1.

Well, just check out .

He hasn't wasted any time!
