A parallel thread to the other one that is running.

So far early voting is running at a record high. Looks like they are favouring Clinton at present. High Latino turnout. Overall the polls have tightened though and I think that many are in their margin of error.

Im going to miss the Obamas :(

Did you see that Madonna gave a free concert in NY to support Clinton? She identified herself as a minority :-/ then apparently clarified that as a woman she felt marginalised.

Rousette, .I hope your toothache has subsided. You poor soul. You need decent pain meds so you can spend tonight in a psychedelic haze!

Is Ohio a swing state? I thought it was staunch republican. Must go and have a look....

It is startling how they can give out results at the same time of night as we do in the UK, given the time difference!!!

I remember 8 years ago waking up and bouncing with excitement because Obama had been elected.

Hi OhYou yes! This morning it doesn't seem so bad thank goodness but knowing my sleep pattern I will wake exactly the same time as that's me, so I might be watching from 2.17am Grin

I've watched a bit of Sky News this morning and I'm now onto Victoria Derbyshire with live link to US and supporters of each of them. Fascinating.

The Trump supporter woman looks like a Stepford Wife and a throwback to the 50's!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/11/2016 10:02

oh good idea, I'll put that on while I work. I have no idea why I'm posting, I have stuff to do.

Trumps sues in Nevada over keeping polling station open late last week. Despite it being fully legal for them to do so.

Intimidation is beginning.

Angry

ps: Obama continues as Prez until late January. :)

ClashCityRocker · 08/11/2016 20:54

I'm too het up to go to bed.

I went to bed on June 23rd and brexit happened!

I'm a bit anxious about the result either way - I dread to think what Trump will do if (hopefully when) he loses. He seems to glory if riling people up into a hate-filled frenzy.

PacificDogwod · 08/11/2016 21:09

Hi, all Smile

Well, here we are

I am so NOT staying up for the end of this farce as I feel just so utterly helpless and could not stand to follow it live.
And yes, I was quite stunned on Brexit morning too...

Gah! I need this to be over now.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/11/2016 21:16

I wanted to catch a couple of hours sleep but dd is running late and needs picking up.

Showme.

I've just got around to reading through Sam Wang's critique of 538.

Thanks.

(Thought I'd posted this earlier! Confused)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/11/2016 22:23

I'm having a decaf irish coffee. Not had one of these since I was a student xx years ago. Hoping it will soothe me to sleep a little

Showmeagain · 08/11/2016 22:40

I am in luff with Sam Wang. I intelligent discourse that I don't completely understand but do to the level that strips out all emotion. Tis like a mensa massage of my brain!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/11/2016 22:51

he's good - soothing.

So Im going to snuggle in bed once 11pm comes. On my ipad I have cnn results
votecastr
twitter and mn ready to go.
radio 4 on to haunt my dreams.

Anything else needed to get quick updates while dozing in and out?

OP posts:
Breadandwine · 08/11/2016 23:06

Another vote for votecastr - Hillary seems to be leading by 300,000 votes (estimated) ATM!

I only drink on one day a week these days, on a Saturday, but if Florida declares for Hillary tonight - Saturday will be coming early! Grin

I'll be having at least two drinks - one for Hillary winning, and another one for Trump's defeat.

I've got fingers, toes, legs all crossed!

Roussette · 08/11/2016 23:08

yes please for updates! Can't keep eyes open but true to form I'll be waking in the night. I did for each of the debates even though I didn't particularly want to Confused

timeforabrewnow · 08/11/2016 23:12

Scared to go to bed in case when I wake up it's like Brexit morning again.

ie 'Oh that will never happen - ......oh shit, that did happen'

HearTheThunderRoar · 08/11/2016 23:13

Hey all, good luck staying awake Kitten... I'm at work

I heard on the radio this morning here that Trump needs North Carolina to become president so fingers crossed common sense prevail in NC but whether that true I can't be 100% sure.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/11/2016 23:14

I know time. That's the thing that worries me. But I am sooo tired.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/11/2016 23:15

Excellent Hear - can you wake us all at significant moments?

OP posts:
Showmeagain · 08/11/2016 23:18

I thought we would leave. But I think Clinton will win from the vast amount of info out there. If you stay up heres a pants suit playlist!

Watch "Pantsuit Nation Playlist!!!" on YouTube
Pantsuit Nation Playlist!!!: www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3IJjm2OnQFLweq8jf4suINwTgqfCFjCj

Destinysdaughter · 08/11/2016 23:20

I actually feel fairly confident Trump won't win. Apparently only 19% of America's population are white men these days ( according to Michael Moore ), so that's not a huge amount. Also since he has so incensed the Hispanic population they are coming out in unprecedented numbers to vote. Plus, states like Utah and Arizona, typically Republican, find his views so abhorrent that he may not win there either.

Have hope, peeps!

ToujeoQueen · 08/11/2016 23:25

Evening all Brew. It's all very worrying, I'm hoping HC will clinch it.

HearTheThunderRoar · 08/11/2016 23:28

Nope, you can stay awake all night Wink

At least the early signs are good, however it's going to be a long wait until Florida is revealed.

Thank frig for the Latinos.

Breadandwine · 08/11/2016 23:32

The waiting is awful, isn't it!

That 300,000 estimated votes for Hillary is in Florida, sorry.

Here's the latest from votecastr - these are all estimated votes, of course - 1822EST:
Hillary is ahead by:
163,000 in Wisconsin
15,000 in Iowa
6,000 in Nevada
21,000 in NH
21,000 in Ohio
139,000 in Pa
303,000 in Florida

Turnout hitting record highs all over - up to 80% - which favours the Democrats.
