Oct 20th 2 am UK time.

Last chance for the Establishment to stop the Trump surge in the polls.
World leaders will be watching, Establishments will be tuning in on the edge of their seats in trepidation.

People will be laughing, diving into the popcorn and knocking back the alcohol.

Round 3. Rock'n'roll.

WW thanks for the invite. Let me know when the general informed argument is in process. Cheers

WinchesterWoman · 16/10/2016 21:55

Oh my goodness - handbags

claig · 16/10/2016 21:57

"Name one paper based newspaper that is supporting the orange one
...
Riddle me that"

That proves that he is the anti-establishment candidate. They are all agin him, including George H W Bush who is voting for Hillary. It is only 40 odd percent of voters who are with him. The entire Establishment and media and world leaders are with Hillary.

Jill Stein, the Green Party candidate, is getting better and better

Angry Republicans keep voting for "trickle-down" candidates who slash taxes for the rich, then wonder why their own lives don't improve.

Trump's policies are more tax cuts for the wealthy and more deregulation of business
i.e. continue to make the rich richer and screw the rest
Plus he might tantrum any time and launch some nukes.

He deflects his voters' anger away from the people who actually shipped their jobs overseas, by stoking up anger toward the "other:"
African Americans, Latinos, Muslims, feminists, gays.

Clinton is sleazy, but Trump is spouting hate and he has told us what he really is like, e.g:
" I tell my friends to be rougher with their wives"

BigChocFrenzy · 16/10/2016 22:12

Interesting take on why some Republican Senators who despise Trump will still support him to the end:

The prize of the Supreme Court

The next President may nominate FOUR Justices:
http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/10/why-the-supreme-court-matters-more-to-republicans-than-trump/5040388_//_

It's their defence for the next 30 years against the demographics (ever shrinking white population) that they fear would otherwise render them powerless.

For decades, the Court has split along partisan lines on key political decisions:

  • The "hanging chad" that elected Bush instead of Gore
  • "Corporate personhood" allowing corporate spending in elections, yet another advantage to the rich.
claig · 16/10/2016 22:15

'It's their defence for the next 30 years against the demographics (ever shrinking white population) that they fear would otherwise render them powerless.'

No it's not. They fear the end of the Second Amendment and even the First Amendment under Big Brother style Orwellian hate speech laws which will outlaw anyone criticising unisex bathrooms and the removal of father and mother on passports etc

'He deflects his voters' anger away from the people who actually shipped their jobs overseas, by stoking up anger toward the "other:"

Then why do Martin Luther King Jr's niece, Dr Alveda King, Dr Ben Carson, Latinos for Trump and gays like Milo and Peter Thiel support Trump?

Claig, how can the fact that none of the big papers endorse Trump prove that he is the anti-establishment candidate? It simply isn't logical. You cannot make statements like that without examining the reasons why they refuse to endorse him. Disliking the fact that he openly boasts about using his position to grab women's genitals and go into their changing rooms whilst they are undressing might be a good reason that has nothing to do with the establishment, don't you think?

WinchesterWoman · 16/10/2016 22:22

Lweji isn't a gf - i may share your amazing home brew

Claig the drudge has some fun stuff tonight

Lweji · 16/10/2016 22:24

If we look at the several aims of the Clinton foundation, we can see that it's mostly about work towards than providing money or goods.
It's not surprising that it gives away a small percentage of the donations, as most is spent on people working towards their objectives.

www.clintonfoundation.org/about

I haven't seen anything connecting the foundation and her campaign.

Although it's possible her opponent may have accused her of that, like of being on drugs now.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 16/10/2016 22:25

ZuleikaDobson · 16/10/2016 22:26

Hmm, it seems we can add disablism to the heap of bigotry which Trump demonstrates - www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-retarded-history_us_58011198e4b0e8c198a7d5ad

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 16/10/2016 22:26

Then why do Martin Luther King Jr's niece, Dr Alveda King, Dr Ben Carson, Latinos for Trump and gays like Milo and Peter Thiel support Trump?

Because they dont think he means them

claig · 16/10/2016 22:26

'how can the fact that none of the big papers endorse Trump prove that he is the anti-establishment candidate?'

Because 90% of the media is owned by 6 corporations. They are teh billionaire insiders (a bit like Murdoch) and they are part of the Establishment and gain commerical and other benefits by going along with the Establishment consensus and not challenging it like Trump does.

The system is rigged, the media is rigged just like the LSE study showing that the media was biased against Corbyn showed. That s why 20,000 Trump fans booed the mainstream media in the video clip posted above and why Corbynistas know that the media is rigged against them and why SNP voters protested about the BBC in Scotland during their Independence Referendum

“Our political system could not be more rigged. Then-CNNer Donna Brazile (DNC chair) fed HRC CNN questions in advance,” Stein’s party added, similarly highlighting the corruption of the Democratic Party primary exposed in the Clinton campaign emails released by WikiLeaks.

Lweji · 16/10/2016 22:28

It's a nice place to be when you can blame the old system for your lack of success.

ZuleikaDobson · 16/10/2016 22:35

But, claig, none of that addresses the issue of whether the papers are refusing to endorse Trump not because of their owners, but because no paper could do so and expect to retain any credibility. They can't, for instance, suggest that his policies are good ones because not even he knows what they are. They can't suggest that they endorse his stance on any of the important issues because he's demonstrated that he cannot be relied on to keep a consistent stance on, well, virtually anything - apart, maybe, from his inherent belief in the inferiority of women, black people and the disabled. They can't suggest that he has a track record of competence because of those bankruptcies. And they certainly can't suggest he should be endorsed because he will shake up the establishment because he's part of the establishment and one of his main planks is that he will cut down tax liabilities for his establishment pals.

claig · 16/10/2016 22:40

'They can't, for instance, suggest that his policies are good ones because not even he knows what they are. '

They are. They are all outlined on his website. The people in the Primaries backed those policies above the policies of the 16 Establishment Republicans. That is why Trump won the first debate during teh first 20 minutes on the economy. It was only when the media moderators switched it to non-policy issues and character that Trump lost ground to Hillary. She can't compete on policy which is why the Clinton Team has only one line of attack - character and temperament.

claig · 16/10/2016 22:42

Trump's killer line to her in the debate was "what have you done for the past 30 years?" She has no answer.

I've just been on an FB page for people in my profession, its contributors are mostly American. A big thread happened today on their medical insurance payments which they say have increased hugely under Obamacare. (Hideous amounts, $1000 a month for a family with big excesses like $200 per claim Shock though I don't know their tax rates of course). Most posters were implacably against obamacare because 'they pay more so that someone else can pay less' and they also think that obamacare has been set up to fail so that the Democrats can bring in a single payer government scheme by default. They are professional educated people and most of them were voting Trump. I feel much more scared.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 16/10/2016 22:43
