Without wanting to seem shallow or annoy anyone- Tory women are, for the most part, more attractive than Labour women?

I'm honestly not trying to antagonise anyone and I consider myself more towards the left than the right but I have to say, generally, that Torie females are more attractive than their labour counterparts. I was at the Labour conference (by coincidence) and right now I'm in Manchester (also by coincidence) and the difference was remarkable.
I noticed the same thing a few years ago in B'ham a few years ago. Other than the addition of armed police the most noticeable thing was an influx of attractive woman to our city.

I know its a superficial thing, and beneath the veneer they are probably reptilian bitches but I was wondering if this differential in attractiveness could be the reason some go left and others go right.

Obviously there are exceptions, but in the newest generation of MPs it seems that more and more this is getting to be the norm- most recently the author Nicola Blackwood (although I think she may have quit recently due to health issues)

I think Tories (both Men and Women) are a little bit more polished shall we say. Most likely because they are wealthier and far more shallow, so appearance matters more than philanthropy. Wink

I'm loony left though, so I would say that.

I am the drop dead gawjuss exception that proves your rule.

In a deep and not at all annoying way, of course.

SilverOldie2 · 04/10/2015 22:11

Thank god we don't have show photographs of us on here - I would definitely prove you wrong Smile

"Without wanting to seem shallow ..."

Oh dear, massive fail there then.

squidzin · 04/10/2015 22:16

I have the features a goddess. A beautiful one. I support labour, so have to disagree with you.

Princerocks · 04/10/2015 22:16

Lol.

Perhaps we ought to consider that the Tory party select only the most attractive 'gels' as its so deeply mysoginistic Hmm

"Let's keep a few of the attractive ones around so we can patronise them and see if we can get orf with them"

They really, really do think like that.

fastdaytears · 04/10/2015 22:29

I look ok in a low light and I am miles to the left. I know some hot tories and some not so much.

Isitmebut · 05/10/2015 08:20

It could be due to the effects of the weather on their skin, similar to that seen in those tending the fields in Eastern Europe - but here due to all that marching/protesting.

Also far too uptight, and all that knicker bunching produces anger lines. lol

Tory constituency parties are mostly male and have an average age into the 70s, so getting selected probably requires women to dress up and look foxy as well as proclaiming their enthusiasm for rewarding bankers and cutting public sector jobs.

seems plausible...a deliberate or unconscious bias which serves to reinforce the stereotype that a woman's value lies predominately in her sex appeal

I'm a member of the Labour Party and have voted Labour in every General Election. However I fail to see why being badly dressed and unkempt is a virtue.

cdtaylornats · 12/10/2015 12:03

Tories have more money, probably true but I don't think having 4 million rather than 3 makes much of a difference to clothes.

Anybody on an MPs salary can afford to dress well. I am not a fan of Mhairi Black's politics but even as a student she was reasonably well turned out. Whenever I see a scruffy MP (or company executive for that matter) it makes me think that it's a ploy and they are trying to appear to be something they aren't.
