They get air time and produce a Horrible Histories skit. Jawdroppingly dire!

I didn't think it was any worse than the usual PPB and it stands out as it's different.
And at least I didn't want to punch the screen which many of them make me want to do or shout 'bollocks' at them.
Party Political broadcasts are not going to make me vote either way.
Policies, people and past records are what will influence my decision NOT an advert

Luckytwo · 09/04/2015 19:02

Cringeworthy. Definitely NOT going to vote for them after that ! Probably wouldn't have anyway. But still !

OneStepCloser · 09/04/2015 19:08

I thought it was great.

acatcalledjohn · 09/04/2015 19:15

Did you see their boyband video?

Due to be aired tonight, by all accounts Hmm

Just seen the boyband video, what were they thinking?!
Definitely not a vote winner imo.

LIZS · 09/04/2015 19:46

Yup that's the one! Not exactly a positive message!

Hilarious. Vote Green to win Eurovision 20 years ago. That was the key message right ?

Funny, yes.
Different, yes.

Huge vote loser, well yes

LIZS · 09/04/2015 20:19

Just seen Sky News trailer which is similar but with real footage, and more amusing.

:o Hilarious! I thought it was quite good, but as a YouTube parody rather than a party political broadcast.

GibberingFlapdoodle · 10/04/2015 08:11

I thought it was quite clever. It appeals to my sense of the ridiculous as well as hammering home the truth. They are the only party providing a different option. They could have done with shutting the boyband down a bit earlier though.

They clearly are aiming straight at the youth vote. And the ethnic woman presenter, not quite decided if that was pc overkill or an attempt to address stated concerns about anti-feminist messages.

Have to say the emphasis on youth annoys me. Unless you count youth as anyone under 40 as so many do nowadays, erroneously - disadvantage, as so many under 45 have experienced so much of, does not itself youth make! I haven't counted myself as youth since I hit 30 and that was 10 years ago. You see a lot of this belief that youth will save us, it was mentioned in that Zoe Williams webchat. When I briefly joined the greens there was a lot of emphasis on youth, yet they were then vastly outnumbered by older people in the membership. People are 'youth' for only a short time and there are far more of us outside it, who now match thought with experience too. Are we not important? Just my little rant.

meditrina · 10/04/2015 08:21

I think they have to go for the youth vote.

The central command economic policies are really unlikely to be given the time of day by anyone else. And the utopian defence policy is also very hard to sell.

(yes, I have looked at the versions published by the party itself)

GibberingFlapdoodle · 10/04/2015 12:37

The central command economic policies are really unlikely to be given the time of day by anyone else.

By which I assume you mean their interest in reinvigorating the public domain and redistributive policies which the oecd admit are necessary for a growing economy www.oecd.org/els/soc/Focus-Inequality-and-Growth-2014.pdf and are known to be necessary for a healthy society in all sorts of different ways www.equalitytrust.org.uk/resources/spirit-level .

The current economic model is causing so much shit for most of us. It's badly broken. Past time to try something else, and why not the mixed public / private economy which has proven successful in the past.

GibberingFlapdoodle · 10/04/2015 12:39

Meant to add, you may have a point about the utopian defence policy, but again at least it's better than the current policy of encouraging international aggression but refusing to fund the front liners properly.
