Kind of regretting agreeing to it but just keep repeating to myself "it's good experience"...

Which party are you standing for?

PoliticalWife · 01/04/2015 11:14

Not me , but DH is. One of the bigger parties, marginal constituency. Polls at the moment show he might win.
We don't see him much at the moment!
It's odd not knowing what our family life will look like after may...

MyArksNotReady · 01/04/2015 11:42

Will you stay locally or move near Westminster if he is elected?

PoliticalWife · 01/04/2015 11:46

Stay here- this is our home and where we have lived for over 10 years.
He would stay in London during the week and come home at weekends.

MyArksNotReady · 01/04/2015 12:29

That is quite a commitment form your family over the next five years.

ChampagneTastes · 01/04/2015 12:34

Oooh skrumle - how exciting! What is your current job?

PoliticalWife · 01/04/2015 15:05

Yes myarks, it is. Makes it all a bit more stressful than it already is!
Plus, knowing that everyone I meet every day gets the chance to vote on something that affects my future...

skrumle · 01/04/2015 17:33

much lower level politician! i'm standing in a seat where incumbent with huge majority is expected to lose to another party - not much chance of me being elected but it's still generating a chunk of work...

PoliticalWife - don't know which way to wish you luck! The level of profile at a local level can be difficult - I was at school with previous MP's daughter and I think she did find it really heavy-going at times. I'm finding it difficult as while everybody i know supports the principle of me standing, they don't necessarily support the party I'm standing for which can make for awkward conversations.

Most of us don't discuss politics for a reason. You have put your families politics out there for all to judge with a vote. Brave.

TheTravellingLemon · 01/04/2015 17:43

I'm not standing, but know many that have, some of whom have been successful, some not. I know someone defending a very marginal seat this time round. It's incredibly tough, so good luck.

PoliticalWife · 01/04/2015 19:04

Skrumle I have lots of friends who won't vote for DH cos they have strong feelings for other parties. Usually that's fine, but it can get difficult occasionally.
Myarks- I don't always feel brave! It does mean that never a day goes by without politics coming up in conversation which can be tiring.
