Are Ukip really going to protect Maternity Pay

I noticed that Ukip have not yet actually set a policy for maternity and paternity pay, or for that matter protecting the equal entitlements of those working through agencies (most of whom are women). Spotted this and wondered if others think this is indicative of Ukips views wp.me/p4jdmB-6u

Are Ukip really going to protect Maternity Pay

I've read previously that UKIP are planning on cutting maternity pay and holiday pay, and reducing sick pay. Apparently this was on their website but has since been taken down. Don't know how true it is as it was claimed by their opponents.

I definitely wouldn't vote for them, but that's just my personal opinion obviously.

a) this is from 2010
b) the proposals before the European Parliament in 2010 were to extend paid maternity leave to a minimum of 20 weeks in all EU member states.
c) UK would be totally unaffected by this as the paid minimum in UK exceeds this.

So I don't think a knee jerk (?) comment showing opposition to EU meddling on employment conditions in UK from 4 years ago is going to be indicative of what may or may not be UKIP policy in that area now.

Be very afraid of UKIP , the stream of rubbish they spout is always laughed off by farage . Why would anyone vote for a party when the leader seems to have a pint of beer glued to one hand as if he is one of the LADS.

Spinflight · 20/12/2014 22:21

The unions have been busily putting it about that UKIP is going to end maternity pay, re-introduce prima nocta and eat the first born of every household.

Can't comment on upcoming policy though the speeches from the conference are available online. Watch those and I suspect you'll be reassured. :)

I think the only thing I feel when I watch ukip members speak is incredulity. They are very right wing and as such hold views and attract some people towards the edges of the 'centre ground'. I just don't understand why they are seen as harmless, of the people and honest. They seem to spend more time attempting to manage their image than any of the others. Doesn't stop the unpleasant views leaking out.

That's because it's a fascist party.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 28/02/2015 19:08

Well, they just announced they are getting rid of the Minister for Women and Equalities so it doesn't look good does it. They were also handing out homophobic leaflets

Pretty grim. Sad

blacksunday · 14/03/2015 08:34

That's what fascist do.

They also announced they would scrap race equality employment laws:

They will create an environment where racism and sexism will thrive.

These things are never far from the surface, particularly when times are tough, despite Farage's claim that racism is in the past.
