Cameron what is the future?

Cameron has missed so many opportunities to engage with Europe and renegotiation. Last year he had golden opportunity to get Merkel onside. I feel we need a new prime minister to give us any chance to give us a fresh chance. Now this baggage with Rebecca Brooks, Coulson etc.
What do you mumsnetters think?

Merkel shafted him. Not his fault.

My bet is that one we leave, more countries will leave - not the poor ones, who benefit most. Us rich ones that are paying the most in.

I think Cameron should invite the leader of the AfD to Downing Street. Merkel is rightly apprehensive about the AfD; by bolstering them Cameron would force Merkel to act in a more Eurosceptic fashion.

At one time you couldn't become a member unless the applicant country had a sound financial status. We had to satisfy on many accounts with De Gaule attempting to block our application on as many points as poss. He couldn't stand the thought that France had to be rescued by the allies. Anyway there was no way you could enter unless you were financially substantial and could prove your were not going to be a drain on the community. In those days it was a common market. That was what we voted for!

That's a thought long fingernails. You have to be crafty to be a good politician, devious to a fault. You also need great experience and diplomacy. It's the experience Cameron lacks. He is still the PR man he always was. Floundering about and employing old mates who are also not up to the job. The only exception is Osborne who would make a better PM or Theresa May would have my vote.

Definitely out, I agree with criminallawyer, once we are out, I'm sure others will follow.
