Justice for Men and Boys - Isn't this exactly why we need feminism

Heard Justice for Men and Boys Founder Mike Buccanan on Womens Hour earlier today complaining that men pay 72% of all income tax.
Well isn't that because they have more income?

And instead of complaining about the feminist agenda doesn't it demonstrate why we need it?

What would you have though - school's tolerating aggressive behaviour because 'boys will be boys'? Aggressive behaviour in children needs to be nipped in the bud - otherwise they turn into aggressive adults.

Pan · 14/04/2013 22:05

Okay. Bad enough for teachers to intervene and speak to you about? But if blood isn't spilt it's acceptable? Or are the teachers just making more hard work for themselves?

SigmundFraude · 14/04/2013 22:07

Ok, to all the people hyperventilating that I encourage and endorse my son battering his peers, try to rein it in eh? I'm talking about a game where he and a friend spin each other around until they fall over, or mock wrestling.

Hmm
runningforthebusinheels · 14/04/2013 22:09

How is women's struggle for equality affecting your sons being able to wrestle (as long as they don't draw blood) in the playground?

SigmundFraude · 14/04/2013 22:09

I don't have an issue with 'rough and tumble', sorry but I don't. I used to wrestle with my cousins, horses for courses.

If I had a daughter I would be saying the same.

Pan · 14/04/2013 22:09

This little episode reflects the 'debate' to some degree. A boy's right to behave v poorly toward other boys and girls and that right is being defended, and the victims are being blamed for complaining and having it drawn to everyone's attention. The bully himself blames others. Nice

Pan · 14/04/2013 22:11

no-one's hyperventilating here SF. Just v bemused by your posts and ability to dig a really big hole.

runningforthebusinheels · 14/04/2013 22:11

Do you think if more men were teachers they'd allow more aggressive behaviours in schools?

SigmundFraude · 14/04/2013 22:12

The school appears to get very twitchy about anything that they construe as 'aggressive'. Ridiculously so. There are a lot of tiger mothers who roar very loudly when little Tarquin comes home with mud on his shoes.

SigmundFraude · 14/04/2013 22:14

Pan, you are very sanctimonious. I'm sorry, but you really are. You only ever sneer at me. Look at yourself. You seem to delight in attempting to make me look small. Good job.

runningforthebusinheels · 14/04/2013 22:14

Why do you think this is a mens rights issue, though? Men needs rights to have more aggressive play at school as children? Would male teachers be more tolerant of this?

SigmundFraude · 14/04/2013 22:16

Also Pan. The boys that my son plays these games with, are just as enthusiastic as he is, so don't even go down the bully line. Completely unnecessary, and offensive.

runningforthebusinheels · 14/04/2013 22:19

The school appears to get very twitchy about anything that they construe as 'aggressive'.

The school is right to.

Pan · 14/04/2013 22:19

I'm not being sanctimonious at all SF. Just challenging your views and statements. There's no delight in knowing people actually hold these views. That just makes life a bit difficult for everyone else.

SigmundFraude · 14/04/2013 22:19

'Do you think if more men were teachers they'd allow more aggressive behaviours in schools?'

I think that maybe there would be an empathy there. Do you think that as a girl, you would have identified more with a male teacher?

SigmundFraude · 14/04/2013 22:22

I don't find sneering sanctimony constructive Pan. You generally address me this way. And you know very little about me really.

runningforthebusinheels · 14/04/2013 22:22

pan's not a feminist, sigmund.

I would like to see more male teachers - but do you know what? I think teaching has a comparably low status now, unfortunately, and many teachers are also parents and cite "child friendly hours' as an advantage to the job. Because women are more likely to be the ones juggling childcare with a job.

Pan · 14/04/2013 22:22

tbh your description of events and involvement of teaching staff does imply bullying. But this is your problem, and I'm sure you regret mentioning it., hence the 'accusations' etc. But I'll leave you to it.

SigmundFraude · 14/04/2013 22:23

'The school is right to'

I would agree in the case of genuine aggression.

SigmundFraude · 14/04/2013 22:24

'tbh your description of events and involvement of teaching staff does imply bullying'

Only in your biased head.

SigmundFraude · 14/04/2013 22:25

'pan's not a feminist, sigmund.'

No, he's just rude.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 14/04/2013 22:27

Why do you think this is a 'men's rights' issue sigmund? You obviously think more aggressive behaviours in boys should be tolerated by teaching staff.

SigmundFraude · 14/04/2013 22:27

Men are more often secondary teachers. I think men are put off primary teaching because society doesn't like men near young children.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 14/04/2013 22:27

And stop attacking pan just because he's disagreed with you.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 14/04/2013 22:27

Why is limiting rough play the fault of feminism rather than social evolution?
