I live in South Devon, and have a profoundly disabled daughter, I am bloody terrified at what this may mean. I've been to see my MP Sarah Wollaston who as an ex-GP I thought may be sympathetic but she's too much of a tory obviously. This is a Tory heart land and I can only see their share of the vote increasing at the next election as the only vague contender was a Lib Dem. I have e-mailed everyone I can think of but only get a stock reply.

I am fully prepared to install myself and Dd at County Hall but is there anything else I can do?

The contract will be awarded to "the most economically advantageous

Well that says it all really, doesn't it. I don't really know what to suggest, I am afraid that it will only be when the NHS is finally completely broken up that private companies will provide the very worst services and eventually their costs will rise, that the tax paying public will see fit to fight this.

As it is, people are too complacent and unless there is a massive groundswell nothing can be done. Sad Short of every adult marching on the street (and even that won't receive publicity) I don't know what will stop the corporations from picking our pockets. (or even picking over our dead bones)

Could you contact Tani Grey Thompson? She's a Baroness now so could perhaps could lend a bit of weight to your case. Keep visiting the MP's surgery, get together with people in the same situation, liase with a pressure group and send her an open letter in the local newspaper.

IF this goes ahead, buy a share in Serco & take your daughter to the AGM. See how that goes down.
