I find comments on this site rather strange. Some say UKIP are racist because they (and David Cameron) say multiculturalism has not worked and has been a disaster. Political correctness has curtailed free speech. All true IMO.

Lawrence Webb UKIP candidate for Mayor is married to a black woman and has two children.

Gerard Batten (immigration) is married to a Filiopino. They are hardly racist are they.

Saying we should be out of the EU is not racist, but a very sane statement.

Just a thought.

It's the standard left-wing smear strategy.

Any time anyone questions immigration policy or membership of the EU, they scream "racist" to try and shut down debate.

I'm afraid some members of UKIP have made racist comments. 'One of my best friends is black' really isn't proof that someone isn't racist, you know. (I suspect Gerard Batten is married to a Filipina btw, unless it's a civil partnership.)

However, Nigel Farage was dead right when he made that speech in Strasburg telling Van Rumpy Pumpy and all the EC bigwigs that their economic policies were bringing us all to ruin, and that they had overthrown democracy in Greece. Smug gits had no intention of listening, as usually - they really don't give a fig about accountability or democracy. They are quite happy with an oligarchy that keeps them in charge.

Ironman, the largest problem with UKIP is not that they are racists, true racists have better places to go. Their problem is UKIP is a one man band, and that man can not do everything. They did not have anyone capable of building an articulate strategy for London elections. Instead, they tried to sell their general party goals, which looked mad ("As a Mayor of London, I will lower VAT on beer" - ORLY).

Lawrence Webb's campaign is inept. Instead of "UKIP" - a tried and trusted political brand trusted by the British people as a safe protest vote, he has gone with "Fresh Start for London". He sounds like a prat, frankly.

Nevertheless, UKIP will be getting my vote (at least first-preference for mayoraly, and for London Assembly seats - second preference will be Boris) - my aim is to try to make UKIP a sufficiently powerful political force that the Tories will no longer have the luxury of behaving like Lib Dems.

Farage had a mumsnet web chat a couple of years ago, him and his supporters who joined especially for chat proved themselves to be twats.

Edam. Gerard Batten has been married to the same Filipino woman for about twenty years, and has two teenage children. I appreciate your point about the EU.
IMO most parties do not represent the people or their views and I will give UKIP my vote. Boris will be the second vote, as I don't want Ken Livingstone in at all.
I agree with LFN. I don't think Cameron is a Tory at all, in fact he does call himself a Liberal Conservative.

Boris or Ken have not and did not appreciate the scale of crime in London, particularly knife crime.

I hope whoever gets in can sort London's problems out.

All have a nice day. Smile
