Tell me it's not true!

I heard that Mumsnet people prefer Boris Johnson as the Mayoral candidate although he's known to be unfaithful to his wife and to treat women he works with like little girls. Please tell me that MNetters have more sense! This man's going to run London if we don't do something about it.

Doesn't he run London already? TBH I've no huge interest in the matter not being in the catchment area but, having met Ken Livingstone once, I think they all have their personal failings. If Johnson has affairs that's between him and his wife to resolve.

EdithWeston · 24/04/2012 16:26

Heard where?

There was a thread somewhere in which (some) MNetters expressed their preferences. IIRC, there were supporters of both (and of other candidates) and I'd be amazed if anyone could draw a unified MN preference from that.

SardineQueen · 24/04/2012 16:42

I am also interested to know where you have heard this.

There are people on MN of all mainstream political persuasions and some not so mainstream Grin so I am surprised to hear about this apparent Boris landslide.

SardineQueen · 24/04/2012 16:44

I also suspect that most London MNers vote based on policies rather than personalities or what they do with their genitals. HTH Smile

Sardine. You'd hope most vote on policies rather than personalities. Sadly I suspect this may not be the case though.

SwedishEdith · 24/04/2012 22:15

I also suspect most mners are not based in London

KatyMac · 24/04/2012 22:17

'London' isn't that the city over the the west of me? Not sure why I should care who runs it, we visit a few times a year & avoid where possible. Wink

EverybodysSleepyEyed · 24/04/2012 22:23

I'm not sure Ken has a better reputation than Boris when it comes to women!

neither are a great choice if you are looking at their personal lives, although Ken does have a penchant for dictators and tax irregularities

The London Mayoral election has been set up as a personality contest. Hopefully next time neither Boris or Ken will run and we will have less 'personality' politics

Neither of them can be particularly proud of their personal life.

That said, only under Ken has City Hall given taxpayer funding to the mother of his secret child, without any record of a declaration of interest:

niceguy2 · 24/04/2012 23:11

Oh dear Ken....

Whereas I remember reading this sort of stuff for Boris:

Boris stops a mugging

Given most of us think MP's are self serving people who are not interested in anyone but themselves, articles like that make me think that perhaps he's different. Anyone who is willing to put himself in harms way to save a stranger is alright in my book.

SardineQueen · 25/04/2012 08:07

OP I take it back.
It is a personality contest and MNers (at least on this thread) do prefer Boris.

Smile
