Urgent and important.

I thought this sentence was particularly significant:

We need to be aware NOW.

As people become more and more impoverished governments will need all means available to them to control the mass of miserable humanity.

What shocks me most is the fact that most people and blind to the fact that our rights and freedoms are being stripped away.

It certainly adds credence to the idea that the war on terror is a war on a partly fictitious bogey man.

I read that the other day and it has left me with a cold feeling I can't shake off. I think my parents' generation thought the world was getting worse for the next generation (us), but I'm sure it REALLY is getting worse at the moment.

To be fair, though, in Europe this kind of strip-search policy can be challenged under the European Convention of Human Rights (Art 3 degrading treatment or punishment and/or Art 8 right to privacy).

That's one more reason why the government hates having its powers limited by the European Court of Human Rights. We're damn lucky to have this kind of scrutiny of potential abuses of power and we can't let it be taken away.
