Cameron thinks patents with a disability, low income, ruin life for the rest of us?

Following quoted from here.

You'll remember Cameron's comment about 120,000 families from hell who ruin life for the rest of us. Where did that figure come from? Jonathan Portes from www.niesr.ac.uk decided to find out:

So I did a bit more digging. The Department for Communities and Local Government had, in fact, published an "explanatory note" to the figures. And, looking at footnote 2, we can finally establish what the definition of a "troubled family", on which the Prime Minister's numbers were based, actually is. It is a family which satisfies at least 5 of the following 7 criteria:
a) no parent in work
b) poor quality housing,
c) no parent with qualifications,
d) mother with mental health problems
e) one parent with longstanding disability/illness
f) family has low income,
g) Family cannot afford some food/clothing items

And I can't type or proof read, obviously parents not patents.

Why a mother with mental health problems? Are a fathers problems irrelevant to our dear Mr Cameron? Hmm

AWimbaWay · 23/02/2012 21:03

More here.

I thought that too fuckity.

I must say I doubt Cameron really does think this, but you'd think he'd look a bit more at where his figures are coming from.

Well, MY family must be a 'problem family' according to this then.

a) no parent in work - tick
b) poor quality housing, - decent quality, but VERY overcrowded, so IMO tick
c) no parent with qualifications - I DO have qualifications, but not ones I can USE due to my disability, so IMO tick
d) mother with mental health problems - Nope, don't meet THIS one...
e) one parent with longstanding disability/illness - tick, uncontrolled epilepsy that has seen me medically retired twice in 8 years.
f) family has low income - tick
g) Family cannot afford some food/clothing items - tick, I buy for the dc (what I can) but not for ME.

Hmm

Bit reminiscent of the German National Socialist Party's poster Here

Translated to: 60000 RM
this is what this person suffering from hereditary defects costs the Community of Germans during his lifetime
Fellow Citizen, that is your money, too
Read '[A] New People'

The monthly magazines of the Office for Race Politics of the NSDAP

I'm finding it harder and harder NOT to draw parallels...

YY Huntycat, this is my fear too!

It's shocking that DC can sell this sort of ideology to the public. The tabloids are fueling hatred of the poor and disabled and I despair the loss of compassion in this country!

NettoSuperstar · 25/02/2012 11:54

That's me too then.
Thanks Dave you twat

CardyMow · 25/02/2012 12:23

DC is practically inciting hate crimes by classifying families where one parent has a longstanding disability/illness as 'problem families' that make everyone else's life hell...

HOW similar to Nazi ideology IS this Government?!

KalSkirata · 01/03/2012 12:14

I guess we should all bow and srape in apologiy then. Disabled, low income, crap housing, MH issues and cant afford stuff.
Funny how he doesnt say problem families are the ones making life hell for others on the estate with loud music, uninsured cars, crime, drugs etc etc.
Nope, its the poor disabled ones.
I rarely go outside but somehow I appear to be bringing down the neighbourhood. Must be like a superpower or something...

NettoSuperstar · 01/03/2012 13:30

Well exactly Kal.
I'm housebound atm, yet somehow am causing all these problems for my neighbours.
I can see the frequent police vans going past and surprisingly, none have stopped at my house.
It must be the other disabled problem folk round the corner. Hmm

KalSkirata · 01/03/2012 17:26

you know, either he is stupidly ignorant about real problem families or he is once again stirring up hatred twoards poor families with a disabled member.
