Fed up of the cuts? Fed up of the mislead bigotry? This is your sanctuary. Unwind. Vent. Pop over to the frothers thread if you feel like getting organised and doing some proactive stuff or just chill out with a cup of builders tea in a polystyrene cup.

Welcome.

You know... where I live is a proper old fashioned Labour stronghold, but second to them is Plaid Cymru. I'm sure either (or both) would love to have a good old 'chat' with our naice PM.

KatieMiddleton · 24/01/2012 14:25

Get your donuts! Hot donuts with a side of compassion!

I have extra plastic cheese for burgers

BelleDameSansMerci · 24/01/2012 14:28

I'd like a good old chat with him... The spoon-faced tosser.

BelleDameSansMerci · 24/01/2012 14:29

Oooh, it's culinary heaven... Really.

I think Hully's idea of shooting them stands.

woollyideas · 24/01/2012 14:31

For all the people who are bleatin' on about who will do the menial jobs if the low-paid people have to live outside London in cheap(er) housing, I just have one question: What's stopping the lazy fuckers living on the streets and continuing to do all the menial work? There are plenty of cosy-looking doorways in the West End. There really is no need for them to commute from the suburbs. You see, all that's required is a bit of imagination...

ValarMorghulis · 24/01/2012 14:33

Grin Woolyideas.

I must admit to having a few "let them eat cake" moments whilst reading some posts in this subject

JaneMare · 24/01/2012 14:34

yes, i'm in a staunch labour town in the middle of rural Tory ignorance villages.

our tory MP spends most of her life on twitter and HIGNFY Angry

TwllBach · 24/01/2012 14:34

Oooh plastic cheese, I haven't had that for years

TwllBach · 24/01/2012 14:36

YY Woolly, they could shower in the tears of their children, thus saving on water AND the salt in the tears is surely therapeutic?

KatieMiddleton · 24/01/2012 14:37

There is a tramp that has moved onto my street. He sleeps in Robert Dyas' fire exit that backs onto the alley way that is my street.

That's shocking. I live in a naice area too. If only he'd had the sense to move to Wigan where for the same price as a shop doorway one can get a naice 2 bed flat. So I've heard.

OP posts:
BIWI · 24/01/2012 14:40

I was Shock to see that Oily Dave is now 5 points ahead in the polls this morning.

It makes me Angry and Sad that he is obviously now the palatable, cosy face of such callous behaviour.

TwllBach · 24/01/2012 14:40

Shirley can I ask, the 'registered unemployed' does that include, for example, SAHPs that might be interested in going/have to go back to work? Or is just those that are registered at the job centre? Because if it's just the job centre figures, it's possible that the unemployment figures are even higher than that isn't it?

ValarMorghulis · 24/01/2012 14:43

TWllBACH - it is those claiming jobseekers allowance.
unemployed mothers who are on income support aren't included, nor are SAHP who are looking but not claiming

Or the teeangers looking for saturday jobs whilst still at school/ollege. The figures are much higher

KatieMiddleton · 24/01/2012 14:44

No it doesn't include the TwllBack. It just includes those registered as unemployed via Job Centre Plus.

So no people trying to return to work, no graduates that haven't signed on, no people working all hours in temp jobs trying to find permanent work.

It is a big con.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/01/2012 14:45

Katie - DH and I reckon that a secondary school set up in these people's name would be FAR better than the one we are inevitably going to get What say you?

And Robert Dyas?

ShirleyForAllSeasons · 24/01/2012 14:47

Twll - Figures from here

Registered unemployed means that they have registered with the DWP. Usually collecting benefits, so yes this wouldn't include SAHP's or anyone who is searching for work while not claiming benefits (for whatever reason)

JaneMare · 24/01/2012 14:50

and isn't it true that lone parents claiming IS not JSA aren't incl also, even though they might be seeking emloyment?

KatieMiddleton · 24/01/2012 14:54

I think I saw the consultation for that one RBOTP. I understand the Richmond Inclusive Schools Campaign have asked them some questions about how often one has to join collective worship of the spaghetti monster to meet the admissions criteria and until we get the answer to that I can't really decide Grin

Yup, we really do have a tramp living on my street. I live town centre

On serious note, have you seen the consultation for the vanity school is out now?

OP posts:
TeWihara · 24/01/2012 14:56

I haven't worked in 3 years and I've never claimed JSA.

Hoping if I can get my drivers license this year that that will change, I originally wanted to go back to working with kids with SEN and a lot of those jobs have disappeared so may have to do something else instead. (thinking of starting my own business)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/01/2012 15:09

Yes Katie, we did and have done the online consultation thing. But WTF was the past question about sexual orientation all about?! There was no option for 'fuck off' unfortunately. We strongly disagreed obviously, although the site itself would be perfect, I am going there tomorrow actually for a meeting, but what is needed is a non faith secondary school. Unless of course it can be the Church of the flying Spaghetti Monster, which could have a marvellous sweatshirt in my opinion Grin

KatieMiddleton · 24/01/2012 15:17

There was an option to decline to say. I answered then thought "sod this for a box of soldier what's this got to do with the price of fish?" (I was having a mixed metaphor moment) and went back and changed it all to prefer not to say. I didn't tell them my religion either though I was tempted to put Catholic. That'd really fuck them up Grin

They should have hats too. Tentacle-y ones.

OP posts:
RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/01/2012 15:21

Well I put other because I thought it was funny, then it asked me what, so I changed it to rather not say.

YY to the hats Grin and general spaghetti fringing attached to the sweatshirt. Lovely.

OpinionatedMum · 24/01/2012 15:23

Lone parents aren't included in the unemployment figures until their youngest reaches five. It used to be 16.

Would it be horribly middle class to bring cheese fondue to put on the brazier?
