This is what we are fighting against:

Bravo to the Daily Mail for drawing attention to this kind of action, by the way.

Before the trolls come out in force, you'd do well to remember the poem by Pastor Martin Niemoller - First They Came...

Who will be left to speak for us or will we be able to speak up for ourselves in the future, if we do not stand up now and support those who are peaceably exercising their right to free speech?

Those in power are trying to cow us into submission, by making ordinary, law-abiding people too afraid to speak out. We need to stand up for our rights - all our rights - before it is too late. :(

Count me in. Terrifying that the EU has overthrown TWO democratically elected governments and installed puppet dictators - sorry, 'technocrats'... One because the PM dared to suggest holding a referendum, FFS!

Direct action of the few, however laudable, is not democracy.

Part of me agrees we are all going to have to fight - or at least to participate - to protect democracy.

The other part of me wonders if it is worth protecting, since it seems to be rotting from within.

I was imagining it would be nice to have a bit more democracy at work, and elect our Director/Section Heads etc. But then I thought of all the campaigning and behind-the-scenes dealings and pressure that would go on, and I actually wondered (for the first time in my life) if it was worth it Sad.

Has democracy as we know it had its day, or has it simply been temporarily hijacked by vested interests? Or has it always been in thrall to bullies of one sort or another? If so, should we be content with the crumbs from their table the cowards' way out as the devil you know is probably so much better than anything else you can imagine???
