Greek PM calls a referendum on the bailout/austerity package.... doesn't tell his own Finance Minister. Hmm Trying to nut through the rationale for this move and failing miserably. Any takers?

Exactly right. It's not capitalism at all. It is just plain old string pullerism.

breadandbutterfly · 02/11/2011 08:27

claig - forgive me for being slow here, but you seem to have said repeatedly that the elite are out to impose austerity on everyone in Europe. Why? Why (short of some sort of rarher pointless psychopathic sadistic tendency) would they wish this? They are mere mortals too. Once you have a billion dollars having a few billion more makes you happier how?

claig · 02/11/2011 09:02

The elite could have pulled the plug at any time or they could have chosen to keep the artificial bubble going. They always intended to pull the plug at one point, when they were ready.

The derivatives and CDS instruments etc. were always based on thin air. Choosing to not bail out Lehmans is when they set the whole collapse into motion.

The reason is tied up with their largest scam - global warming, climate catastrophe and saving of the planet. It's tied up with their "environmentally friendly" food of ants. locusts and beetles.

Once upon a time. the elite said "let them eat cake". In the future, they will say "let them eat ants".

The reason they are doing it is "sustainability". They tell us that the planet is not sustainable, our energy sources are not sustainable, our pensions are not sustainable, our lifestyles are not sustainable and our libraries are not sustainable. Of course, it is all a lie.

The real thing behind it all is population. They don't want people to do well and prosper and for the population to increase. That will mean that there are less resources left for them. That's why they have educated people about the depletion of resources and told them that human behaviour has led the planet over the "tipping point".

They are going to implement the same austerity programmes worldwide. They are going to hold people back, slow them down, increase their taxes, reduce their consumption, reduce their use of power in order to make them more powerless.

Newsnight ran a theme of the earth's population last week. Every day they warned us how it was growing and at the end they hit us with the whammy about how good it would be if we started eating ants and locusts.

It's about austerity to hold people back, cut their services, cut their aspirations, cut their access to free education in an attempt to stop their progress. They call it being "progressive".

claig · 02/11/2011 09:10

Imagine if they would have used just a small portion of the billions they have since taken from the public, in order to prop up Lehmans. Then it wouldn't have started the chain reaction. But the chain reaction was necessary in order to justify cuts, which is the ideological objective to cut people's living standards and aspirations.

ElBurroSinNombre · 02/11/2011 09:24

claig,

You talk like the future is entirely predictable - it is not - even to the elite that you keep mentioning. BTW - who are these faceless people? can you name any of them and do you have any evidence of the influence that they bring to bear?
Like most, I tend to go for cock up theories rather than conspiricy theories - IMO very arrogant people who think that they know more than they actually do have caused this situation. These people think that the Economic models that they use are a scientific reality and that very complex Economic systems can be modelled accurately. This aligned to human greed has caused a lot of the current mess.

Hullygully · 02/11/2011 09:28

All of it is always about money.

Starting a third WW would have been one way to make a shitload of money, but, with nuclear weapons, a tad reductive. This is second best.

claig · 02/11/2011 09:32

No, I can't name them. I don't know who they are. But you can understand their motives if you listen to the news and watch Newsnight. Their messages are always being broadcast for your education.

'Like most, I tend to go for cock up theories rather than conspiricy theories'

you've swallowed what they always broadcast. Why do you think parties hire spin doctors if it is not to try and influence and steer teh public and to influence teh course of events rather than wait for "cock ups" to occur. They're not stupid. They plan for all possibilities, just as for military campaigns. They model the future, they don't sit around and react on the hoof.

CogitoErgoSometimes · 02/11/2011 09:41

"All of it is always about money"
I'd say it was more about greed. And that's a human failing regardless of where you sit in society. Whether we've participated in the orgy of cheap consumer credit, the pyramid schemes dolled up as investments or sauntered out of Currys with a looted TV, it's mostly motivated by greed.

I don't think 'the rich' are out to impose austerity on the rest of us, necessarily. When times were good and revenues from the financial sector paid for all the public spending, there were few complaints about executive salaries or bonuses. Indeed, far from castigating the wealthy, we wanted to read about them in magazines and ape their lifestyles. Like the rich guy that stands everyone drinks we're big pals as long as he's paying but, as soon as he stops paying, we don't like him any more.

So the elite has infiltrated the BBC - Is Paxman one of them or does he just do what he is told?

BTW - I do agree that some opportunists will try to use what is happening to further European integration in a time of turmoil. But this is not part of a grand plan, it is just an opportunity.

claig · 02/11/2011 09:49

The BBC is an Establishment institution. It wears a progressive cloak and a progressive mask to disguise its Establishment credentials.

ElBurroSinNombre · 02/11/2011 10:04

I agree that the BBC isa part of the Establishment. (The way that they suck up to the Royals and the C of E really grates on me and those institutions are IMO irrelevent to the vast majority).
But what you are saying is that there is an orchestrated and calculated campaign to influence events that involves, seemingly, hundreds or thousands of people in many different organisations. I find that very unlikely.

claig · 02/11/2011 10:11

no, it's not hundreds of thousands of people. The elite rely on the stupidity of the people to believe in catastrophic climate change. They only push teh ides out there; they let progressives do the rest for them.

claig · 02/11/2011 10:18

There'll be all sorts of greens popping up on our TV screens soon, extolling the virtues of eating ants and decrying meat. They'll tell us about the fantastic levels of proteins in ants and some progressives will rush to health food shops and pay top dollar for ant pate.

claig · 02/11/2011 10:21

But the elite won't eat ants, they'll carry on eating beouf bourguignon washed down by a Chateau Neuf du Pape, having put a binge drinking tax on alcohol for the plebs, which will have been applauded by the progressives.

claig · 02/11/2011 10:25

boeuf

scaryteacher · 02/11/2011 11:12

This is interesting (but isn't about ants)

claig · 02/11/2011 13:06

This is interesting and is about ants.
In case anyone missed the propaganda, here is just a small part of it.

It includes a posh chef and an ambassador telling us about how "environmentally friendly" it is and how it is impossible to feed the population without looking at ants etc..

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/newsnight/9626549.stm

claig · 02/11/2011 13:12

One thing remains constant; the elite always underestimate the intelligence of the public

CogitoErgoSometimes · 02/11/2011 13:16

It'd be tough to underestimate yours claig...

OP posts:
claig · 02/11/2011 13:16

"according to the experts", "environmentally friendly", "ants don't produce methane"

Monty Python couldn't have made this up.

claig · 02/11/2011 13:17

'It'd be tough to underestimate yours claig...'

not as tough as the ant stuck in Kirsty's teeth.
The posh chef says "it'll be there for a while".

ElBurroSinNombre · 02/11/2011 13:24

The point you make about climate change is a good one in that noone really knows what effect it will have (not even 'the elite'). Whatever we are told or believe, we cannot really model that sort of thing because it is too complicated. Catostrophy is a possible consequence of climate change and that is why it would be better to err on the side of caution if we could under the circumstances. That is why it is an important issue IMO - nothing to do with hidden agendas etc.

BTW I am assuming that you accept that climate change is a reality or do you think that it is yet another conspiricy invented by the elite in order to control our actions?

claig · 02/11/2011 13:28

Chilling stuff.
Kirsty feeds the ambassador the line
"OK, realistically are they ever going to become a food staple in this country?"
The ambassador gives us the punch line, and the whole point of the broadcast, "I think so because there is are no other alternatives ..."

MrPants · 02/11/2011 13:28

Claig You are one of the few people on this site that I can usually agree with in some small way. Your comments usually mirror mine in a desire for a smaller government (Libertarianism/Minarchism). However, with all of this paranoid secret cabal, Bilderbergers rule the world nonsense you are coming across as one of the tin-foil hat wearing nut-jobs that give the likes of me a bad name.

I'll ask the question I always ask whenever someone suggests a grand conspiracy - Why?

Why do they (feel free to replace with any or all of the following as necessary Jewish-Bolsheviks, Zionists, Reptilian Shape-shifters, Military Industrial Complex, The Royal Family, Shady government departments behind 9/11, Mossad, The Freemasons, The Illuminati, Opus Dei, the Bilderbergers or The Priory of Sion) feel the need to control other peoples lives with the sole aim of fucking them up?

claig · 02/11/2011 13:34

No, I think that anthropomorphic climate change is a scam and is political. The climate has always changed. We had an ice age once, and one day we'll have another one.

This is from a global think tank founded on David Rockefeeler's estate in Italy:

'In 1993, the Club published The First Global Revolution.[5] According to this book, divided nations require common enemies to unite them, "either a real one or else one invented for the purpose."[6] Because of the sudden absence of traditional enemies, "new enemies must be identified."[6] "In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill....All these dangers are caused by human intervention, and it is only through changed attitudes and behavior that they can be overcome. The real enemy then, is humanity itself."'
