Greece about to default?

They deserve to, frankly. They could have left the euro ages ago.

Remember, we have given them a loan guarantee. If they default, we pick up the tab.

We shouldn't have guaranteed the debt of any other country - especially if they insist on staying within the monetary straitjacket of the euro.

I will make a point of spending at least one of my annual holidays in Greece.

I don't think Greece will default, at worst the bailout from the EU and the IMF will be refinanced in order to boost bond market confidence.

It has been a year since Greece got the bailout and in the next year they need to refinance in excess of ?25bn, and the only way to do this is to seek emergency funding ... Again. And it is quite likely that Ireland will follow in the same steps and Portugal in due course.

The eu is reaching a dangerously critical stage, the finances can only get worse and to protect our economy we need to get out. The uk can't afford to be part of another bailout.

We need to start adhering to the rules, like the original rule that no countries would get bailed out by other members!

Why couldn't there have been a referendum for the euro last week as well!

Wish I could give two fingers to a lot of labour people!

I agree Giddy. What Darling did was inexcusable.

I think Greece will ultimately be forced out of the Euro. I think the Euro can survive one country being ejected. But if Portugal & Ireland go the same way then its doomed.

But hey, if it stops me paying ?4 for a coke whilst abroad then I guess it wont be all bad!
