Yesterday was a disaster for Red Ed

No real gains in England, failing to win a majority in Wales, getting drubbed in Scotland by the secessionists, and losing the AV referendum which he headed!

When it comes to replacing crap leaders, Labour should take a leaf out of the Tory/Lib Dem playbook. Get rid of the loser Red Ed, and go for a winner instead. I personally think Yvette Cooper or Jim Murphy would be quite difficult opponents for Cameron.

I agree with you, whoever took over the Labour leadership from Brown was handed a poisoned chalice. They are unlikely to take the next General Election then Red Ed will be under an obligation to resign as leader. He's just care taking until the time is right.

longfingernails · 07/05/2011 11:14

Even worse (from the Labour perspective) - the Tories actually made gains!

Jim Murphy? Grin. He is guaranteed to lose them votes. Red Ed is better than Jim Murphy,

Agree Darth. They're New Labour, nothing red about any of them.

BTW, it sounds like your cat has good sense. All clever cats cast a conservative vote for Cameron, they know which side their bread's buttered on.

claig · 07/05/2011 18:57

A cool cat is a conservative cat, they know where it's at.

longfingernails · 07/05/2011 18:57

Both cats and dogs are instinctively Tories (cats are Thatcherites, dogs are one-nation wets).

The animal most akin to a Labour voter is a lemming.

Well said, longfingernails. Agree entirely!!!

claig · 07/05/2011 19:05

TS. Eliot left out this final line about that famous cat Macavity :

Macavity, Macavity, there's no one like Macacity,
There never was a Cat of such deceitfulness and suavity.
Vote Labour? You're having a laugh; he could never be accused of such low down knavity.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 07/05/2011 19:08

Cats tend to have this look of, 'what have you done for me lately...'

Ed lives in a political bubble. He keeps talking about the, 'Labor party' and politics rather than people. Must. Stop. Doing. That.

Ed Miliband, doe-eyed hound dog. Cleggers is a Cocker Poo, neither this nor that. Cameron is a Red Setter, nose pointed in the air and rather regal.Grin

I don't think Ed is 'leadership' material. He looks anything but decisive. Yvette Cooper, I think, is one of the best of Labour's front bench, but she suffers from being in her DH's shadow. I think she's miles better than him but always feel they regard her as second to him.
