I did tick the convert links box. Its a video about the human rights council and some of their members and their position on womans rights/treatment.

On the whole he is talking about Hudud, not Sharia. And there are very many different interpretations of Sharia.

Having Iran on the UN Commission on Women's Rights is nonsensical. So was the last governmental conference on Afghanistan in London which was woman free.

And I've finally remembered his name - Pat Condell
I find him as offensive as any other fundamentalist. Just because he is an atheist fundamentalist doesn't make him any more palatable.

I suspect he is as fundamental as some others and its these extreme views that cause so many problems

im not saying there are not issues with islamic ideology however in the grand scheme of things its not that long ago that the christian world decided to head out a murder a load of people that they didnt agree with.

It all depends on the point of view, from an Islamic fundamentalists point of view they may argue that we are wrong because we "allow" sexualisation of young girls and boys and have no family values as we make women work and be the main wage earners. if i could be arsed im sure i could produce a representation of the west that counters this video on every point and would convince a heck of a lot of stupid people to adopt an anti west attitude

the point is any religion on its own is not a bad thing, it is when human beings use it as an excuse to be shitty towards one another and as a vehicle to gain power. it just so happens that religion attracts a lot of people often, when talking about a less spiritual form of religion, people who dont have a lot and provide a ready following for nutters as the fear of not adhering to that religion means they may lose the little they do have.

if you ban one religion from the UN then you must ban them all and logically build a power base of atheists....i wonder if someone else may have possibly maybe thought of this
