The row about the Sky Sports off-air banter and the recent BBC court case where a female presenter was sacked for having a few wrinkles made me wonder are we overlooking more serious aspects of sexism? Off-colour remarks about judgement or appearance are easy to focus upon as wrong but my view is that there are deeper prejudices at play still in wider society ... and if we think that Equal Opportunity legislation has fixed the problem we are sadly mistaken.
I'm also concerned that various aspects of legislation around the rights of mothers especially in the workplace could be hampering progress towards equality rather than helping it.
