Ann Cryer (MP) says she warned other labour MP's about the situation in her own constituuency and was called 'racist'. The police ignored the abuse for the same reasons.

The police and MP's IMO are lily livered in allowing these young girls (some children of 12) to be abused in this way so that they would not upset some of the electorate.

These girls are damaged for life, by some men old enough to be their fathers.
This situation was known about for years, and yet it takes the Times newspaper to expose it!
Any MN's from Oldham, Bradford, out their care to comment?

Girls have not been 'allosed to be abused'... two gangs have been jailed recently. Most convicted paedophiles are white, in fact, and have various ways of operating but the phenomenon of openly cruising streets in gangs looking for vulnerable girls to groom seems to be particularly favoured by men of asian origin in certain cities - but not exclusively. I understand there are over 20 of these gangs under investigation at the moment. Investigations made difficult in the past because the girls often regard the men as their 'boyfriends' and are unwilling to prosecute.

I think the police are correct in treating this as a serious new twist on child abuse and are right to bring the criminals to justice.... whatever their origin.

Chili123. The people convicted were not convicted as 'paedophiles' Why you ask? Well the police spokes person said on TV last night that the girls were not "pubescent" anyone in my books who rapes a 12 year old is a paedophile but not to the police!
Most of these girls did not think these perverts were 'boyfreinds' as they were raped by men who were old enough to be their fathers, and they were threatened. Sometimes the abuse was among the mens' relatives and the girls were pass from one man to another I agree with the OP the girls were 'allowed to be abused' by the police and social services, as they did not want to appear racist. Reports state it has been going on for years. Ann Cryer brought the matter up years ago with her PC collegues from the labour party.
Also to say that men were of Asian origin is an insult to Indian and Sikh men, as far as I was away 95 percent of the abuse was from Pakistani men or men from Pakistani heritage.

Michael Gove said on BBC's Question Time that this problem needed to be addressed within the Pakistani community. I really do not believe that imams hold sufficient sway over these young men, who know they can earn a great deal of easy money by pimping young girls. A great deal more money than they could even from drug dealing, so the newspapers say. It's money for jam, and no enreaty or admonition from even the most venerable greybeard is going to make any impression on these ruthless characters.
