Save the poachers? Do you mean save the tiger from the poachers?
From the WWF website,
The sad fact is that to poachers, tigers are worth more dead than alive. Despite official bans on the use of tiger parts in traditional Asian medicine, there?s still a booming black market ? and a lot of money to be made in the illegal trade of tiger meat, bones and skins.
So we?ve worked with TRAFFIC, the wildlife trade monitoring network for many years now. We?re determined to stamp out these unscrupulous practices, explode myths surrounding the health benefits of tiger parts and keep our precious tigers safe for future generations. And we can?t do this without your generosity.
Strength in numbers
In some Nepalese tiger reserves, we?re making progress. These areas have long been hotspots for poaching activity, with snares found in reserves on a worryingly regular basis.
Now, however, we?re helping boost the number of anti-poaching patrols on the ground. Together with our partner organisations ? and thanks to money raised so far ? we?re making sure they have the equipment they need to communicate with each other and to act swiftly at the first sign of any illegal activity.
We?re also supporting governments in their efforts to build intelligence networks and improve legal processes. In this way, we can help bring the poachers to justice ? and tiger numbers back to a sustainable level.
