I obvoiusly missed the boat in terms of people's interest in the hudget cuts then but the other thread was certainly very interesting.

I'm not in the UK so am not affected by these cuts. Belgium was of course affected by the world financial crisis but as we already pay very high tax and social security the government couldn't really ask for more! In any case, despite the fact that the elections were in June, we don't have a government yet Shock.

Anyway, and I don't know if this has already been mentioned because the other thread is too long to read, my dh commented on the fact that the cuts were announced as one item on the news, swiftly followed by the announcement that the 2012 Olympics is going to cost a bazillion pounds (sorry, can't find the actual figure). Doesn't this grate with those of you in the UK?
