Thanks Dinosaur for pointing out that actually 0.05% on a trade is enough to move the trade elsewhere. The margins on this sort of stuff are tiny.

I don't understand why people don't get this stuff. Conceptually it is so easy and obvious.

Maybe people could protest by assertively checking the interest rates on their savings, changing bank accounts to get a better deal and proactively managing their pension funds.

Financial education is the best revenge.
