Free nursery provision for 3 yr olds

Is this under threat? I had heard a rumour that part of the package of cuts was going to include the withdrawl of the 15hrs of nursery provision for 3 yr olds, but can't find anything that mentions this in the announcements from yesterday.

Is this provision funded by local councils? Just wondering whether it might be something being considered locally.

Has anyone else heard this or am I worrying unnecessarily?!

No nursery provision is being expanded I think

chandellina · 21/10/2010 20:46

it is being expanded for underprivileged two year olds. the 15 hours for three and four year olds stays intact.

lisad123isgoingcrazy · 21/10/2010 20:48

it already covers underprivileged 2 year olds.

As far as we are being told there are no plans to change 3 and 4 year old funding and Single Formula Funding will still be going ahead from April.

2yr old funding will continue (pilot schemes running at present) but will remain targetted.

no change I think, the 3 hours per day for 3 and 4 year olds is definitely staying.

plonker · 21/10/2010 21:27

It's not necessarily 3 hours per day abdnhiker - the funding can be taken flexibly over the week with the whole 15hrs taken over a minimum of 3 days

Thanks everyone Smile. That puts my mind at rest.
