So,what will it take for us to realise we are being shafted and do something about it?
Is the 'generous' offer of 15 hours free schooling for 2 year oldsHmmto enable us to spend more time sewing sacks?
We are not far from bringing the workhouse as far as I can see.
How the heck can people coming off IB find work when there are loads that have been and will be made redundant?
If they say we are all in this together again I will vomit.
So what is going to happen?

I feel the same, Doobydoo. I've just been trawling around looking for ways to get involved and I found this ...

www.coalitionofresistance.org.uk/

(hope it's ok to post this link here)

Doobydoo · 21/10/2010 15:17

Thanks for that link.

I wish there was more than just a token resistance. Or that someone would organise a few nationwide rallies for people who cannot afford to travel to one. The tories really have done a stellar job of keeping us down. I am, at the moment, pysically incapable of attending a protest and registering my dissent in person.

Hmm, maybe it's time to crack my knuckles and get on with the letter writing.

PlentyOfPockets · 21/10/2010 18:41

TottWriter - have a look at that link. There are a lot of affiliate groups around the country and quite a bit of local action starting to happen. It's up to organisations to sign up so if you know of any local to you who may be interested it would be helpful to pass on the info. Coordinated, country- or even Europe-wide days of action could be really powerful. You can also add your signature to Tony Benn's Founding Statement on that site and there are suggestions of other ways to help too.

I'm actually quite hopeful at the moment that there's going to be quite a big noise about this. A lot of single-issue groups are picking through the review and working out exactly how it affects those they represent and they're beginning to make their voices heard. The challenge, I think, is to unite these voices and avoid any divide-and-conquer scapegoating. This coalition thingy seems the way to go, although it may be a bit too political for orgs such as Oxfam and Shelter who are making their own stands against the cuts. There are also a number of respectable economists coming out against the proposals such as those in the Institute of Fiscal Studies who are saying that the overall effect of the cuts is regressive. And yeah, letter-writing ... let's innundate our MPs! Smile

Thanks - looks good and I'm looking forwardto the chance to get involved in making our voices heard.

Time to speak up now!
