Littlefish, welcome on here. We none of us are as good at prayer as we should be, so we consider it a real privilege to be asked for that support.
This is a situation that would tax anybody with a strong faith, no wonder you struggle. Is she a Christian? Even if she is not, God can often speak through the most terrible of situations and provide comfort where there is no human comfort.

Comfortableshoes, praying for your parents, for a smooth move and a quick settling in. dementia is such an awful thing, one of the hardest to deal with

Littlefish · 07/12/2009 11:42

Thank you for your kind words DutchOma. My cousin is not a Christian, but she is a good, good person who gives her time freely to volunteer for charity. She is just so young, and I know how frightening this must be for her and whole family. Her dad lost his mum to breast cancer 7 years ago, so this is especially hard for him.

I will hold on to the fact that God can provide comfort to her.

amberlight · 07/12/2009 19:45

Well, I'm still alive, which is good. Thank you for your prayers for today. My advocate was wonderful. I'm not sure there's an answer, but I think some learning happened, so maybe that project will help someone else in the future. We'll see.
Prayers continuing for everyone else - so sorry, brain so tired.

NotTheVirginMaryOhNo · 07/12/2009 20:11

Prayers for all...

Would welcome prayers for me please. For a little while I've been concerned about whether I had a small lump or not, together with a little tenderness. Finally went to the Drs today. There is "some thickening of tissue" in the breast, he doesn't think its anything to worry about, but am going to hospital on Friday to get it investigated.

purplehat · 07/12/2009 23:21

Hi everybody.

I am desperately worried about two friends of mine, both of whom are suffering from cancer. One of them (A) has been told she is likely to have less than a year left with her family. P is less sure about her prognosis but has been told that there is no further treatment that can be offered. Her condition seems to be worstening with each day that passes.

Thank you all.
I will now read through your posts and see if I am able to pray for any of you and your loved ones

Love to you all x

LoveBeingAMummyKissingSanta · 08/12/2009 07:29

Thanks for your kind words.

Dad met with his chemo doc yesterday and he is going to be having a very intense treatment which will make him much worse than last time. He will also loose his hair, why is that bothering me so much? He doesn't have much to begin with, i guess its such a visable sign of cancer, there will be no forgetting for a moment cause everytime I look at him it will be there.

My mum didn't say that there is no hope, but then we didn't find out till later last time that he had only been given weeks/months. That was a year ago so please pray for him.

Prays for your friends purplehat. Watching them get worse each day is so hard, my dad's brother died recently and his sister 3 years ago both from cancer.

nothevirginmother - prays for fri

Double post

amberlight · 09/12/2009 15:43

MJIM, praise God indeed about your DS.
Prayers continuing for all.
Feel strangely calm about the situation over one of my projects that's had to stop. It feels like God has a plan. Wonder what, though...

SweetestThing · 09/12/2009 17:09

Prayers for all on this thread. I find myself very inarticulate when writing on here. I wish I could find words to offer strength and comfort but can only say I'm praying for people, sometimes it's not even with words but by sending thoughts to God, if that makes sense?

CaptainDippy · 09/12/2009 19:56

Who needs words, we're in the hands of a miracle maker

OP posts:
PositivelyFestive · 09/12/2009 20:11

I totally agree SweetestThing. I wish I had the words to express on here as I often pray, but write nothing, then feel that I am not really a part of this lovely thread. It is a privelege to pray for people and I find it always a positive thing, to spend time in prayer for others, even if I don't really "know" them.

Praying for everyone on here.

MeltedTreeChocolates · 09/12/2009 20:47

Know what you mean Sweetest Dippy - Amen!

MeltedTreeChocolates · 09/12/2009 20:49

huh.... why is it showing the asterisks? I only did one either side??!! hmm......

Littlefish · 09/12/2009 22:04

Sorry to ask again, but could you think of me tomorrow. The Ofsted inspectors are at my school and I will be observed. I work in a very challenging school, with children who have very chaotic and in some cases, abusive, home lives.

I just hope that the inspectors recognise the passion and commitment of the staff, and support us in the quiet, loving way that we always try to work with the children in our care.

Positivelyfestive and sweetest thing - you put it very well. Even if I don't feel ready to pray yet, I can certainly try to send my thoughts to God - I think that's what I was doing in church 2 weeks ago.

amberlight · 10/12/2009 09:50

Littlefish, prayers doesn't have to be formal. I pray in pictures - in other words I visualise things and then think of God seeing them. Others pray just by chatting. Everyone has their own way. Find something that works for you, no matter how small.
Praying hard for you for OFSTED. So much stress on staff and the children.

Praying for everyone...and still needing prayers myself as I tackle a whole new phase in my life. Please God let me make some safe decisions...

CaptainDippy · 10/12/2009 11:02

Prayers for you today LittleFish. xx

I have a heart shaped 'prayer stone' by the computer. I hold that for a little while, sometimes no longer than a few seconds and pray for the need that has come off the board. I can feel when it is time to let go off the stone or of the person I have been praying for.
Prayers for Littlefish, prayers of thanks Myjobismum's ds (how on earth did he manage that then?) and prayers of thanks for Meltedtreechocolate for a successful visit by the Health Visitor. Cleanliness is next to godliness, my dear, however it was achieved

MeltedTreeChocolates · 10/12/2009 11:32

Haha, then it will be a while til I get next to Godliness Dutch... Place is already slipping back... I am trying though

Praying for you Littlefish, and pray how ever you feel right for you, He is always listening

amber continued prayer for you x

SweetestThing · 10/12/2009 14:50

Dutch, I love the idea of a "prayer stone" - I might try that and see if it helps me focus.

Littlefish, praying that the inspection goes well and Meltedtreechoc, that you and your DH and family are strengthened by God's support and love. Amber, God will guide your decision making and help you see the way through.

And general supportive prayers for everyone on this warm and caring thread.

weegiemum · 10/12/2009 17:18

Please could you pray for us.

We all have norovirus. This is after 6 weeks of (non-swine) flu, pneumonia and pleurisy, kids off school every week, chest infections, green mucus everywhere, letters from the school about attendance, disappointment at not going to Venezuela, return of my nasty depression symptoms, just a pretty horrendous 6 weeks.

Now I have a week of (really rather odd and very hard to have around) FIL who we haven't seen for almost 2 years here until Tuesday from this evening, followed by MIL arriving on Wednesday (which is my 39th Birthday!!) until Friday (she's nice but pretty high intensity!). They're divorced! But I hardly have time to change the sheets!

I need prayer for health, and for patience!!

Thanks!
