Thats good MC

MrsCadwallader · 19/01/2010 11:15

Haven't posted here much after my initial 'hello' but I'm reading Continued prayers for all here, especially MC (Ihope you find happiness soon) and Justa - I'm so sorry for your loss.

If anyone is around over the next hour would you please send a quick prayer for my DS2? He is 5 and in reception this year, and has had some trouble settling back into school since the Christmas holidays, and has been very anxious and tearful at lunctimes, with the result being that he has fallen into a cycle of 'anticipated' anxiety, getting more and more upset through the hour or so leading up to lunch. I had a good chat with his teacher and teaching assistant yesterday and they are going to pair him up with a friend in the run up to lunch (so around about now!) in the hope that this will help to distract him, and break the anxiety-cycle!

Thank you - it's only a small thing but I feel a bit helpless not being with him when I know he's probably getting himself in a tizz (but hey, it's all part of the letting them go thing, isn't it?)

CaptainDippy · 19/01/2010 19:28

How'd it go MrsC?

Zooming by here - lots of prayers too all

MrsCadwallader · 19/01/2010 19:37

Thanks for asking, CD!

He was fine today, apparently! It might be partly because they had a non-routine morning (they had a theatre company in doing a play) so he might have just forgotten to be anxious! Either way, the TA said he's been all smiles all day, which is great - I'm praying like the clappers that we've turned a corner and he'll carry on like he did today. Both he and I will be much happier

Continued prayers for all.

meltedchocolate · 19/01/2010 21:48

Glad to hear it went well Cad.
Praying your son settles
(Totally off topic but did you get a slow cooker and what do you think? - I am wanting one - I think it was you that posted about it wasn't it?)

I am happy Cad, (Thanks for your prayers) just keep having good days and bad days. I have to trust God and wait and find out what is in His plan for me. Sometimes I let my emotions run away with me and forget that

MrsCadwallader · 20/01/2010 05:21

Don't we all, MC?

Yes, it wa mewho posted about the slow cooker. I haven't bought one yet - I'm still worried it's just going to end up taking up space on my worktop! I have to go shopping tomorrow though so if I have time I'll try and have a look at some. I'll let you know!

PositiveAttitude · 20/01/2010 07:17

Morning ladies,

GO for the slow cooker! I LOOOOOVVVVVVeeeeeee mine I use it at least 3 times a week. So good to chuck everything in before work, then when I get home tea smelling lovely and no work to do, but dish up! Tonight we have a manic evening of DH and I at differnt meetings at different times and 3 of the DCs out at various things, so meal is very hit and miss. I will do a shepherds pie in the slow cooker, then as we all need to eat at different times everyone dips into it when they need to and I am not cooking individually for everyone, or trying to keep it warm. The only problem we have is that the last one to get there always moans that there is not enough left!!!
I got mine for a wedding present 21 years ago and have always used it, but am so excited that others are seeing its benefits now. Every thread I seem to go on people are asking about them. I know many people worry about the space it takes, but worth it in mt opinion. Before we had a large kitchen I had it sat on top of my hob when I was using it and under the stairs when I wasnt.

Sorry about the enthusiastic take over!

Prayers for you all!

DutchOma · 20/01/2010 07:35

Looking at the last few threads a thought struck me, especially looking at MC feelings of having to wait for God to reveal his plans, which as Mrs C says happens to all of us at times:

Do you think God uses a slow-cooking methods, using all of us to very slowly make us into something that smells lovely and can be used?

Thank you for your prayers for me over the past week, it has been a bit tough, especially as we had the funeral service for somebody I'd known for 30 years+ yesterday.
Margaret's Bob's funeral will not be till Friday of next week.

I was sorry to hear of Justa's father passing away too and she has been in my prayers.

CaptainDippy · 20/01/2010 12:27

Prayers for those fast, slow, or stuck on the side of the proverbial road waiting for God's recovery van to turn up...

Notquitegrownup · 20/01/2010 20:32

Helloooooo. A quick note to send love and prayers for all on this thread. I don't believe that God wants me to be this busy, but I can't really see what he wants me to give up, step back from, yet, so here I am flying by again.

Mary, have you heard from Peter recently? I do hope that all is well with him.

God bless all x

meltedchocolate · 20/01/2010 20:34

'recovery van'

BTW i forgot to say - to those calling me 'MC', it makes me feel like a dodgey hiphop or DJ (whatever you kids are listening to these days) artist, haha

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 21/01/2010 08:38

No, not heard from Peter. Temporarily mislaid his number following mobile phone change, but will text him.

Please pray for Val. Until fairly recently, she was fit, well and very healthy, in her late 50s. She's had a number of health problems over the past year, which knocked her for six, and she had a stroke this morning, don't know how serious, completely unexpected. She is my brother's MIL.

newlark · 21/01/2010 10:23

I posted before Christmas asking for prayers for my grandmother. She has deteriorated sharply following a chest infection (she has chronic lung disease amongst her many health problems). She has been taken off all her long term meds as her liver is failing and is now just on painkillers and has a full time carer at home. We are hoping that the pain relief will work and that she doesn't need to be transferred to hospital. Praying for a swift, peaceful end

DutchOma · 21/01/2010 11:00

Sorry to hear that Newlark. Praying for you as well as for your grandmother.

MrsCadwallader · 21/01/2010 11:03

Prayers for you and your Grandmother, Newlark.

Prayers also for Val.

meltedchocolate · 21/01/2010 11:50

Prayers for Val and NewLark's Grandmother. As well as for all the family of these people.

CaptainDippy · 22/01/2010 12:28

Prayers for that swift, peaceful end NewLark. So heart-breaking to see someone you love suffering >

Praying for Val Mary - hope they can decipher what is wrong and treat it accordingly.

All ok in DippyLand .....

All GREAT over here. The Lord had answered my prayers! I bumped into girls that I had wanted to catch up, with but not seen for a long time, when I went into town on Thursday. Today I arranged to meet with them both next week on different days! I also found out about some groups (e.g a young mums group) and basically my diary is jammed packed for next week! I am so happy! I have been sitting around not doing anything for long enough.

Praise The Lord!

Prayers continuing for everyone here

newlark · 25/01/2010 09:43

Prayers answered - my grandmother died on Saturday lunchtime - she had been very uncomfortable and agitated but the nurse managed to improve her medication on Friday evening - she finally fell into a comfortable and peaceful sleep for the first time in weeks and died about 18 hours later without waking up. I live 90 miles away so was glad I was staying with my family close by at the time and also that I was able to see her sleeping peacefully on the morning that she died. Sad but thankful that her suffering is over.

meltedchocolate · 25/01/2010 09:44

Prayers if you will for my son. Poor baby is ill. We had the two most revolting nappys ever in the history of nappies this morning! The experience has traumatised me I am sure!
