Happy Christmas!!!! Prayers for all who read, for happiness, for friendship, for hope, for love, for peace. So many years when Christmas was terrifying - but such a joy now. May it be so for others.

MeltedTreeChocolates · 26/12/2009 00:12

Merry Christmas ladies!

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 26/12/2009 10:52

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Got my Christmas name now, rather than my Advent name

I went to Midnight Mass, and acted as liturgical deacon, including reading the Gospel! Had it sprung on me, so a bit EEK, but it was fantastic! Was also mentioned in the sermon . Maybe it should be like I do with the kids - if they get "used", then they get paid

ZipadiSoozi · 26/12/2009 12:52

Belated birthday wishes Jesus!

Prayers for a relaxing christmas to you all

So far so good, our christmas couldn't be better, dh's whole family and us even went to church on christmas eve (the most un-religous family ever) so that was a blessing!

SweetestThing · 26/12/2009 13:17

I hope everyone had a blessed and peaceful Christmas Day, celebrating our Lord's birthday. We raised a glass to my brother and to other loved ones no longer with us.

I felt really uplifted by the church service at our local RC church on Christmas Eve - I received a blessing and felt as if God had gently wrapped his arms around me. I pray others may feel this supportive and caring love when they need it.

Prayers to all on here, for yourselves and for your loved ones.

CaptainCaveman · 27/12/2009 20:40

We have half a house of lurgey - O and I are full of cold and cough. Prayers very much appreciated. Also, I have misplaced my watch and silly as it sounds, prayers that I may find it would be kindly appreciated .

Christmas here was wonderful, peaceful and fun. Just what Jesus would like I reckon

amberlight · 28/12/2009 10:50

Prayers for all those facing a houseful of stroppy guests, difficult rellies, mess, chaos, children who are now Bored and Fighting, people who are ill, credit card bills that are , or who are just feeling Urk about the whole Christmas thing.

And prayers for everyone else too.

CaptainDippy · 28/12/2009 13:13

Just heard that K has to go into hospital AGAIN on 7 Jan, to have more lumps removed . Please pray for her. Also for BIL, who is having chemo atm for his brain tumour.

MrsCadwallader · 29/12/2009 15:12

I feel awfully rude jumping in so far into a very long thread, but - may I?

I've been hovering around MN for a few weeks now on and off, posted once, chickened out and haven't posted again since! But I found this thread today and sensed an answer to my own prayers for a place where I could come and be quiet and thoughtful.

My needs are nothing compared to the magnitude of some of the issues that some of you are facing, but I do need a place where I can come sometimes to 'be still and know that [he] is God'. My life is frantic - I have a young family (3 boys; 7, 5 and 3) and am part-way through a very intense course of study. I knew the study was going to be hard when I started it, so I'm not complaining - it's what I signed up for! - but it leaves me very little time and space to nuture my faith and my relationship with God. Since September I have been helping to lead the preschool group at Sunday school (partly because I wanted to help and partly because then I would have to find the time to go to church!! ) and I go to a weekly bible study group, but otherwise, I very rarely get any 'God' time, almost never actually get to sit through a service and equally rarely find the time and energy to pray "properly". I feel like my faith is being pushed and challenged from all sides and it's hard to maintain my relationship with God when I feel so stretched. I desperately want to know his presence but really struggle to feel like I am making 'contact'. I hope that makes sense

I'm running the risk of this turning into a dreadful self-pitying ramble so I'll stop - but if I can use this place as somewhere to come and be quiet, and to share prayers and find some peace, I'd be really grateful!

And my prayers to all those who have already posted here too.

DutchOma · 29/12/2009 15:53

Dear Mrs Cadwallader, You are more than welcome to join us and I hope that you find some 'peace and quiet' among us mad bunch.
It is a challenge, isn't it to find time for God and I always think that it is a comfort that God only requires faith as big as a mustard seed, which is pretty small.
So pray for a second or two when you wake up, before you fall asleep, on the loo (Dippy has some wonderful loo prayers), when you wash up or load the dishwasher etc.
And if you find that things are getting on top of you, then stop. Don't let anyting stand in the way of you doing what God wants you to do.

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 29/12/2009 16:01

Mrs Cadwallader, you are definitely welcome! Nothing is too small to bring before God! I recommend these 3 minute daily retreats for when you are short of time but in need of "God time". They have a Catholic theme sometimes, but mostly they have a prayer and spirituality theme. I can recommend them. They consist of a verse or 2 from the bible, a couple of questions to think about, and a short prayer, accompanied by soothing music and pictures.

MrsCadwallader · 29/12/2009 16:27

Thank you!

DutchOma, I assure you that I use the phrase 'peace and quiet' very loosely and that it is entirely relative....!! Praying on the loo though.... that could work! And yes, I keep reassuuring myself that God can and does work with whatever small amount we give and that He will remain with me and at my side whether or not I sense His presence.

Hallelujah, thank you so much for that link! I will save it and aim to use it daily when I switch my lappy on to start work each morning.

Thanks again for the welcome.

CaptainDippy · 29/12/2009 22:58

Hey MrsC!!! Nice to meet you. You are very welcome here! LOL @ DO mentioning my loo prayers - I should definitely resurrect those

OP posts:
MeltedTreeChocolates · 30/12/2009 00:21

Loo prayers? Please do resurrect those Dippy because I have no idea what you are talking about and would love too!

Things looking up over here... decided just to get on with my life now things with DH are finished as far as I can see (maybe He has other plans in the future? I can only leave it in His hands) My dad has done up a room for my son so i will finally have a room of my own and a place for peace and quiet, and also a room for him and his own space.

Finally feeling like things might go back to 'normal' and i can move out of my 'soap opera' life (which is what it can so often feel like)

Roll on 2010....

PositivelyFestive · 30/12/2009 07:50

Morning ladies nad welcome to Mrsc.

Prayers for "K", for next week, Mary.

Panic prayers needed here! Fallout from recent events in the church seeem to be gathering momentum. We will not be pushed into anything that we feel is wrong. However, there is a real possibility that we will feel that we have to leave the church we have been in for 25 years in 2010. My church family have been there for us all through married life, death of our daughter and shared the joys of 5 other children. I love them so much, but now feel a bit hounded out! It would also mean me losing my job as I work there, too. DH has a meeting with the rest of the leadership team tomorrow morning. All I can do is pray!

Praying for a blessed 2010 for you all.

DutchOma · 30/12/2009 09:27

PF, Leaving a church is awful, we've had to do it twice. After the second time I felt that I could never be really involved with any church again and it took three or four years before we felt we could come into membership. We have now been there nearly sixteen years and it is ok at the moment.
Praying for you in the next few days that you can hold on to God when all else falls away.

MeltedTreeChocolates · 30/12/2009 13:30

Praying for your situation PF and forgot to say welcome MrsC

CaptainDippy · 30/12/2009 20:02

Sounds much more positive Melted

Will pray Positive

Will resurrect Toilet Prayers asap

MrsCadwallader · 31/12/2009 08:09

HHB Mary - I just wanted to thank you again for that link - it's great! I've used it for the last couple of mornings and am finding it a very useful tool (and not at all distracting and making me want to read the whole of the rest of the site instead of getting on with my work )

PF I do hope that your situation resolves peacefully and you find your way through.

Melted Chocolate - I don't know anything of your background other that what I've read on this thread but it sounds as though you are coping with a very difficult situation with remarkable strength and grace. I pray that 2010 will be happier and more settled for you and your son.

And I'm eagerly awaiting the toilet prayers though I'm pretty lucky if I even get that time to myself.... Motherhood means doing everything with an audience, a barage of complicated questions and a rictus grin beatific smile on one's face

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 31/12/2009 13:45

You're welcome Mrs C.

How did this morning go, PF? Its so hard when church relationships go wrong , praying that good will come from this.

Please pray for Ramir, the son of the Big Issue seller (her name is Cornelia). He is due to go into hospital today, he needs an operation. Not too sure of the details, but if you could pray please...

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 31/12/2009 13:47

Just to add, Mrs C, if you have any time to waste spare on that website, the stuff on Ignatian Spirituality is absolutely incredible! Its revolutionised the way I deal with problems and blessings in my life - consolation and desolation.

Notquitegrownup · 31/12/2009 15:20

Dear All

Flying by with prayers and thoughts for all and a special welcome to anyone new. Tooooooo busy.

God bless
