Mumsnet Christian Prayer Thread for late summer

It's quite amazing how quickly the time goes. Looking back over the past six weeks there is not much that really lights up apart for the birth of Oliver Benjamin on the 1st August to Mr and CaptainCaveman and Tom. Praise God that all medical intervention went well and that Oliver was born safely and is feeding well
We pray for two other expected babies: Myjobismum's which is expected at the beginning of October and Swaliswan's who only just confirmed the pregnancy. Pray that all may go well, bearing in mind her miscarriage in February.

The weather this summer has not been very good and a lot of us have been on holiday and have struggled to a greater or lesser degree:- Soozy, Podmog, Dumbledoresgirl, Amber and Mary (who is still away).
We give thanks that Mary was not seriously hurt after an accident on her bike; also for her church placement in an immigration reception centre. Nearer the time this will need much prayer.

We pray for Weegiemum who suffers with frequent kidney stones and who has the additional difficulties in obtaining adequate pain relief.

We give thanks with Myjobismum for a much better prognosis for the baby of a young friend. Initially it was thought that the baby might have to spend months in hospital, the baby will still need a lot of care but it is now thought that it will be weeks rather than months.
We also pray for Henry,(thanks to StickyJ who flagged this up for us) who has had operations and is still very up and down and for the baby of Mascarpone's friend in New Zealand who is suffering from trigonocephaly.
We pray for two other 'newbies' on the thread: longlegted and livvylouis.
We pray for Amber and Roseylea, Notquitegrownup and Notsofarnow, (prayers for dd, GCSE results and MRI scan results),Jentlydoesit, FAQ, Mufti and PandaG.
We give thanks with Marslady who managed to support the parents of two fatboys and twind, within the space of a week. we have seen real answers to prayer here.
We pray for those who have suffered bereavements: Onlyjoking, Evenstar and MartianBishop and we pray for Mummy2TandF on the coming first anniversary of her dh's death
Last but not least we hold up our own CaptainDippy who is still not in the right place healthwise and who is struggling in other ways as well. Lord, bring someone alongside her to guide her, support her, emotionally and practically and please Lord, make her aware of your loving presence.

We praise God for the ability to pray for one another in the certainty that He hears our prayers and deals with them in His infinite wisdom and compassion.

Hi all,

just flying in to say Praise God how wonderful he is!

All this rain this week has caused a leak in my lounge and kitchen through the windows, DH out all day yesterday trying to solve the problem but last night water was still coming in. Woke this morning after much prayer, no more water things seem to be drying out!!! DH thinks we should wait a while before getting to excited but I have a really good feeling about this. Yippee!

CaptainDippy · 08/09/2008 07:22

So hard for Nicole & her family Mary; but so glad she is still here & fighting. It is gonig to be one steep hill to climb, but I pray God would strengthen her every step of the way ...

Glad the flooding seems to have stoppped LL - how horrid for you - hope the damage is not too extensive - Saw Morpeth on the news last night - all those people loosing their possesions and all the damage!!

DD1 has school visit this am and my mum and gran coming to sit with P so won't get on later. Love & Prayers to all.

Anyone fancy coming down this way next week at all? DH's parents away so have 7 bed house at our disposal!!

CaptainCaveman · 08/09/2008 12:20

Morning all (well technically its afternoon isn't it!?).

Praise God that Nicole has moved out of intensive care. Praying for her continued recovery, especially with her upcoming surgery and after as she adapts to a new way of life.

Praying for the family in your church CF, how terribly .

How was the choral evensong DO? I do hope you enjoyed it

Praying for Marsy's ladies and their twins.

Praying your leak has stopped for good livvylouis.

Please could you pray for a friend and colleague who has just been diagnosed with breast cancer. She is in bits and very despondent - she thinks her life is doomed to be full of misery (too personal to post details). She is a wonderfully caring person but quite pessimistic. I am praying that the Lord will intercede in her life and help her to see life in a more positive way.

Also, please pray for a young family at church who have just lost their dad to cancer - 4 young children, all under 10 . Please surround them with your love Lord.

CC, yes thank you I enjoyed both Choral Evensong and the organ concert that followed very much, wonderful that it is happening so close to home.
Praying for your friend with breast cancer and praying that she will indeed see that the Lord is her rock and her Saviour.
Praying also for the young family who have to go on without dad, how very hard for them.
Is all well in the Cave household? Any news on the sale of the cave?

Mary - hia, prayers for Nicole, may the lord show her and family strength to manage the new stages in her life.

CC - Aw prayers alos for the family at your church who have lost their daddy

CD - Yikes, a whole house to yourself, anybody taken your offer to stay? would love to be there, shame twins have started school! Amber would have looked after 'P' beautifully!

Thank you God twins went to school ok today, (after last fridays fuss of both being prised off me, left distraught)

Done housework today, so lets hope things will start settling down now and get into some sort of routine, praise the lord I have job offers coming out of my ears atm, leisure centres all around me seem to need instructors!

"Yippeeeeeee" BOING! (ooooh that felt good)

Swaliswan · 08/09/2008 15:57

Afternoon Ladies

A special BOING to Sooz. Fab news about the twins going to school OK and job offers coming out of your ears.

As ever, I have been lurking and praying for your requests as I read them.

A quick update and prayer request from me. After worrying that I didn't seem to have many pg symptoms, I could really do with a bit of relief from relentless nausea. I am on a study week for my NVQ this week and have loads of work to do. Please pray that I manage to get everything done and that my nausea doesn't turn in to vomitting until at least next week. I don't want my tutors to know that I'm pg yet and would like to carry on as normal without people knowing that I'm pg.

DutchOma · 08/09/2008 16:47

Swaliswan, so lovely to hear from you. Are you having a cup of tea and a biscuit before you are getting up? Take a flask if dh is not about.
Soozy, how wonderful to have some job offers, what an answer to prayer.

Hello everyone. Still reading and praying as I go each day...

CaptainDippy · 08/09/2008 18:54

Zipping through ..... praying for DF with cancer DX, CC and for that family losing their dad Brain emptied ... will be back ....

Clockface · 08/09/2008 20:17

Hello all!

I am veeeeeeeery tired at the end of my first day with the lovely little church! I've been smiling and chatting and thinking and planning all day - exhausting! Time to kick back now and watch "New Tricks"!

Sooz - great for you, lots of job offers! You can cherry pick the best ones!

CCM - praying for your friend with cancer. The lord be with her.

notsofarnow · 08/09/2008 20:33

evening all. Keep praying have had tough day. I need a flipping miracle or a brain transplant.

CaptainDippy · 09/09/2008 07:22

Praying for miracles, nsfn xx

Woke up feel very sick and weird, which is not nice Feeling a bit better now. Head is so full of stuff atm.

Please pray for a lady from pre-school who lost her DH to cancer yesterday. He only had his DX in June, so They have one 4.5yr old DD. Trying to think what I can write in a card. Devastating.

My granny is not well either, something quite seriously wrong with her heart. As she is 90, the cardiologist doesn't think there is a lot they can do. She seems ok, but I just feel so sad because she is not a Crhstian.

My mum isn't great either. They are both visiting this week, which is nice, but tough. My mum & I don't have the greatest relationship.

Gosh I am weary. I need to do some proper Bible study - could someone suggest some good notes I could use? I'd like to do some study with DH as well - good notes for couples? If you could send me some, all's the better as finanaces are pretty awful atm.

Feeling a bit 'all over the place' right now, but trying to focus on here & now & stuff that needs doing. DH away tonight, I'll miss him.

Right, best stop waffling - Love & Prayers to all. xxxx

Poor MJIM praying it passes quickly, not nice at the best of times, but especially not while PG. xx

I know I am ridiculous, but P is not settling this am and I need her too - I am shaking and hot and anxious. I know it is silly & I should just calm down; but I need the mornings to do stuff (esp work) iykwim & I just get so worried that she's going to drop her sleeps and I am not ready. Am I making sense!!? I am sooo nuerotic. Just sat here pleading to God that she would settle now.

ZipadiSuzy · 09/09/2008 11:52

mjim - poor you, praying d & v settles, and you and your bump can rest to recover!

CD - aw praying your anxiousness subsides, good you are having visits from your family, prayers for your granny and mum. (keep on zipping)

NSFN - prayers for your 'flippin miracle' anything we can pray for in particular?

SS - lovely to hear from you, continued prayers for 'baby bean' how many weeks now? I remember sickness kicked in about 6 or 7 weeks for me{YUK}

Clockface - hia! glad you had a lovely day at your lovely church, prayers for a more restful day though

Thank you for all your thanks re job offers, unfortunately I cannot cherry pick any of them, they are all at unsuitable times to fit in with family, but its lovely to be in demand.

Meanwhile prayers needed for situations at current job and that I can sort problems out, in need of changing dynamics of whole lessons, bit out of my depth really, taken too much on! (with special needs children) more study needed there, and support from collegues!

Brain exploding!!!!!!!!! Ouch!

Notquitegrownup · 09/09/2008 11:57

Cd - this will just be temporary (possibly teething?) I remember the posts when one of your other girls did this for a couple of days, but then settled back down into her routine. She is not giving up her morning sleeps yet!

Can you pop her into a pushchair if she has not settled yet, and get some fresh air. That will help you relax a bit, and she may doze off and give you chance to get some you time. (Buy some chocolate on the way back for yourself too!)

{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}} I used to hate it when they dropped a sleep without asking permission first!!

CaptainDippy · 09/09/2008 12:20

Prayers for your exploding head Soooz! xxxx

Thank you so so much for your post nqgu - just thank you. you said everything I needed to hear and I am so grateful. She did settle down ok at about 10.45 and has just woken up. You are so lovely nqgu - we really should meet-up again soon!! xx

Many thanks for your continued prayers - especially for others for whom I have asked for prayer .

DO - the cave sale is Sllllooooowwwww We just reduced the price by a further 5K last week and are waiting to see if that tickles anyone's fancy (nothing as yet). Still it only takes one person to want it so I am not despondent - all will become clear as the Lord's plans come to fruition. One of the couples who came to look round 2 weeks ago are thinking about a possible second viewing.

I am enjoying a very lazy trouble free day - thank you Lord. The house is a tip, the ironing mountain grows by the second but I am happy and living in the love of the Lord - what else matters?

amber32002 · 09/09/2008 14:56

Oh goodness...poor hubby slipped and fell really heavily today whilst out on a site inspection in a town miles away, and nearly knocked himself out. Then the silly man refused an ambulance and drove home again. Praise that he didn't do anything disastrous on the roads, but prayers please for me as I'm really shaky now...

DutchOma · 09/09/2008 15:49

Oh Amber what a shock. Men eh? He probably doesn't know what all the fuss is about. Wait till the bruises come out.

CC will have to continue to pray concerning the sales of the current cave. What have you lined up for the purchase of the next one?

don't know wht u can pray for really just got this horrible fear feeling in my stomach, i get hungry so i make food then don't want to eat it, i'm awake at silly times in the night. None of it makes sense, nothing has set me off, there is no reason for it and I hate it.

Sorry rant over. Prayers for everyone else
