Mumsnet Christian Prayer Thread for late summer

It's quite amazing how quickly the time goes. Looking back over the past six weeks there is not much that really lights up apart for the birth of Oliver Benjamin on the 1st August to Mr and CaptainCaveman and Tom. Praise God that all medical intervention went well and that Oliver was born safely and is feeding well
We pray for two other expected babies: Myjobismum's which is expected at the beginning of October and Swaliswan's who only just confirmed the pregnancy. Pray that all may go well, bearing in mind her miscarriage in February.

The weather this summer has not been very good and a lot of us have been on holiday and have struggled to a greater or lesser degree:- Soozy, Podmog, Dumbledoresgirl, Amber and Mary (who is still away).
We give thanks that Mary was not seriously hurt after an accident on her bike; also for her church placement in an immigration reception centre. Nearer the time this will need much prayer.

We pray for Weegiemum who suffers with frequent kidney stones and who has the additional difficulties in obtaining adequate pain relief.

We give thanks with Myjobismum for a much better prognosis for the baby of a young friend. Initially it was thought that the baby might have to spend months in hospital, the baby will still need a lot of care but it is now thought that it will be weeks rather than months.
We also pray for Henry,(thanks to StickyJ who flagged this up for us) who has had operations and is still very up and down and for the baby of Mascarpone's friend in New Zealand who is suffering from trigonocephaly.
We pray for two other 'newbies' on the thread: longlegted and livvylouis.
We pray for Amber and Roseylea, Notquitegrownup and Notsofarnow, (prayers for dd, GCSE results and MRI scan results),Jentlydoesit, FAQ, Mufti and PandaG.
We give thanks with Marslady who managed to support the parents of two fatboys and twind, within the space of a week. we have seen real answers to prayer here.
We pray for those who have suffered bereavements: Onlyjoking, Evenstar and MartianBishop and we pray for Mummy2TandF on the coming first anniversary of her dh's death
Last but not least we hold up our own CaptainDippy who is still not in the right place healthwise and who is struggling in other ways as well. Lord, bring someone alongside her to guide her, support her, emotionally and practically and please Lord, make her aware of your loving presence.

We praise God for the ability to pray for one another in the certainty that He hears our prayers and deals with them in His infinite wisdom and compassion.

Makes sense to me

MarsLady · 05/09/2008 12:24

Hello my lovelies. Got another birth prayer request.

I have a twin mum slowly going into labour. Could you pray that she has a lovely labour (she's rather nervous) but also that it's over by tomorrow morning as it's DD2's birthday party tomorrow.

Life good at the moment so Praise be to God!

Weegiemum · 05/09/2008 13:06

praying for you all

Podmog, dh and I have been there. He loved living in the remote rural outer hebrides, cos every day he went out to work (with the car - but I cant drive anyway) and saw people and did things etc - leaving me 13 miles from anywhere and 26 miles from anywhere much!

I couldn't get involved in church (26 miles away), was hard to go swimming or to toddlers etc (13 miles away).

it did my head in and then suddenly (with much prayer etc) he agreed to move to GLASGOW! Now I am happy with loads going on, kids in great clubs and school, me with loads to get involved in - and we have solved his problem by him commuting 75 mins each way to work in a remote rural area.

He still won't agree to sell the Outer Hebridean house though. I never want to go back, but he still thinks it's a possibility. We rent it out, so we're not out of pocket - it covers our costs in Glasgow.. In a minute I would sell and move here permanently, but he's not ready to do so - and so it drags on -

Praying for everyone else to, esp NS today.

I'm OK, kidneys have actually settled down a bit. Still at loggerheads with SIL, trying to avoid the phone, as she has left a "deal with it' message every night this week. This is a woman with real issues I can't help her with!

DutchOma · 05/09/2008 14:02

Best not to try dealing with other people's issues anyway WM.Hopefully eventually she will give up trying to get any 'sense' out of you. Don't be drawn by whatever she says, should you happen to pick up the phone and she is at the other end. We got a caller display telphone from BT, is wonderful, because you can keep up with the last 30 calls, not just the last 1471 call, even if people don't leave a message. If the caller withholds a number, I don't pick it up at all. Glad to hear that your kidneys have settled down a bit.

We have got our yearly community barbecue on the Racecourse tomorrow - if the weather is ok. It gets financed by the Open Door shop and is a real free for all, especially of course the people around the church/shop. We have 'planted' 2000 invitations, last year 100 people were fed and we had just enough sausages. Looking out of the window it is hard to trust God for miracles, but heyho, it's His barbecue so...

praying for you all, especially you ns.

Podmog, praying for you and that you and DH will be able to talk and see each other's points of view.

Weegiemum · 05/09/2008 19:05

DO - I don't pick up! We also have caller display ( I am a bit phone phobic, and when I was depressed it was essential to know who was on the other end) and I amignoring her calls. We are going to have to deal with it soon - as it is goign to feed back to MIL (SIL is bound to tell her sooner or later) adn affect dh's relationship with his brother, which I don't want to do).

Otherwise we are well. I passed a 5mm kidney stone today, so am feeling much better!

evening all. ds started school this week and they've been going on the bus all on their own bless them they look too small, but to them its just an adventure. Have spent the day sorting out their rooms, bought big storage boxes from matalan and have tidied it all up - mammoth task that was.

gp has doubled my medication and says to see her in a month. Don't know if its that that's making me tired but I am absolutely whacked, keep falling asleep early eve then not ready to go to bed, then too tired to get up s the circle goes round.

Ah well will have to be awake tomorrow in work for 7.30

CaptainCaveman · 06/09/2008 14:00

Hello! Flying by with prayers and thoughts for you all.

Ds1 wants to know if God made flu bugs?

We have also dropped our house price by another 5K so it's now an absolute BARGAIN. Please pray the right person comes along soon with an acceptable offer.

Both ds's are very well, praise God. I am just a little tired.

DutchOma · 06/09/2008 18:25

Difficult question CC isn't it? If you say "No", then who did? If you say "Yes" then God created evil.
It comes down to the whole origin of evil and that is a problem we all struggle with in one way or another.

It's a deep question for a four(?) year old.

Can you pray for a couple of my clients please? 1 had her twins at 25 weeks and the other is just being checked out to be sure all is okay (sorry can't say more than that). Thank you!

Oh my DD had a lovely party thank you.

CaptainDippy · 06/09/2008 22:41

Love & Prayers to all xx

MarsLady · 07/09/2008 00:09

All well with second twin mum. Please continue to pray for first twin mum. They've transferred hospitals but one of the babes hasn't transferred well.

Clockface · 07/09/2008 08:28

Hello all, I have been reading and praying for you.

{{{Podmog}}} how difficult. I really do empathise nad hope that you and your dh can work together towards the set-up that will be best for you all.

Weegiemum - more kidney stones? You poor thing! I hope and pray it doesn't last much longer.

CCM - that is a hard one! How to explain the mystery of suffering to children! With dd's eczema I always tell her that God knows how she feels, can help her in it and loves her just the way she is...but that's not really the same, is it?

I'm starting a new job tomorrow! Really looking forward to it, working for a church on a big council estate - lots going on there, loads of opportunities (too many in fact, I've had to be really selective as to what I have agreed to take on). So any prayers would be really appreciated!

Clockface · 07/09/2008 08:29

I just remembered - I changed my name! I can't actually remember why! Anyway, I am / was Roseylea.

CaptainDippy · 07/09/2008 09:16

Yey - hello Rosey!! Praying for new - job - sounds exciting!!!! Pop by and let us know how it went.

Cont to pray for twins, Marsy - esp twin who hasn't transferred well - pleased keep us updated - hope you are doing ok funky laydeeee!

Off to church .....

MaryBS · 07/09/2008 09:25

Maybe you were "meditating in the WATCHES of the night" Rosey .

Sorry, I've been absent from here for the past couple of days, but I've been praying for you all, and keeping track of things.

Can I give thanks to God for a lovely priest yesterday in the Cathedral, who listened to me, prayed with and for me, and laid healing hands on me, which has given me a sense of peace which has been lacking lately. Praise God for those he uses to support us in times of need.

DutchOma · 07/09/2008 10:59

I was just about to post and ask who you were in a previous 'life' Rosey, had more or less worked out it had to be you. Good to see you in a new 'guise'. about Mary's explanation of the new name.
Giving thanks for one set of Marsy's twins where all is well, but praying for the other set, especially for the one that isn't doing so well. Trusting God for his wisdon and care.
Giving thanks with Mary for the ministry of the priest in the cathedral and prayers for a peaceful and blessed Sunday for you all.
I am 'playing hookie' from church this morning, Bob has gone but I am planning on going to a nearby church tonight for their Choral Evensong and an organ recital afterwards.

Notquitegrownup · 07/09/2008 12:43

Flying by. Good morning all. Great to see you back Rosey/CF.

God bless all.

Clockface · 07/09/2008 13:44

Maybe, Mary! But that seems more your style than mine...!

Please pray for a lovely fmaily in my church whoes 8 y o son has just died. He was very sick and it is so terribly sad. Lots of tears at church this morning .

PandaG · 07/09/2008 14:24

hello all

praying for the twins Mars, and for the family at your church CF. also that job goes well on MOnday.

glad to hear the God spoke to you through the priest Mary.

Had a challenging word this am at church, based on Isaiah 62. Am trying to process it without the stuff of this world getting in the way. xx

CaptainDippy · 07/09/2008 15:23

So CF - God uphold his family and friends at this time.

LOL @ DO "playing hookie" ... a phrase before my time

Off to outlaws now so "see" you later ....

MaryBS · 07/09/2008 17:07

Very quick visit. Update on Nicole, praise God she came out of intensive care last week, and is now on a high dependency ward, with 24 hour 1-1 nursing. Her kidneys have failed and she is on dialysis, 4 of her fingers on one hand have been amputated and she is having a foot amputated this week, so very difficult news even so . Her sister and a friend are doing a sponsored run to raise funds to help her improve her quality of life, called "Nicole's trust".
