Mumsnet Christian Prayer Thread for late summer

It's quite amazing how quickly the time goes. Looking back over the past six weeks there is not much that really lights up apart for the birth of Oliver Benjamin on the 1st August to Mr and CaptainCaveman and Tom. Praise God that all medical intervention went well and that Oliver was born safely and is feeding well
We pray for two other expected babies: Myjobismum's which is expected at the beginning of October and Swaliswan's who only just confirmed the pregnancy. Pray that all may go well, bearing in mind her miscarriage in February.

The weather this summer has not been very good and a lot of us have been on holiday and have struggled to a greater or lesser degree:- Soozy, Podmog, Dumbledoresgirl, Amber and Mary (who is still away).
We give thanks that Mary was not seriously hurt after an accident on her bike; also for her church placement in an immigration reception centre. Nearer the time this will need much prayer.

We pray for Weegiemum who suffers with frequent kidney stones and who has the additional difficulties in obtaining adequate pain relief.

We give thanks with Myjobismum for a much better prognosis for the baby of a young friend. Initially it was thought that the baby might have to spend months in hospital, the baby will still need a lot of care but it is now thought that it will be weeks rather than months.
We also pray for Henry,(thanks to StickyJ who flagged this up for us) who has had operations and is still very up and down and for the baby of Mascarpone's friend in New Zealand who is suffering from trigonocephaly.
We pray for two other 'newbies' on the thread: longlegted and livvylouis.
We pray for Amber and Roseylea, Notquitegrownup and Notsofarnow, (prayers for dd, GCSE results and MRI scan results),Jentlydoesit, FAQ, Mufti and PandaG.
We give thanks with Marslady who managed to support the parents of two fatboys and twind, within the space of a week. we have seen real answers to prayer here.
We pray for those who have suffered bereavements: Onlyjoking, Evenstar and MartianBishop and we pray for Mummy2TandF on the coming first anniversary of her dh's death
Last but not least we hold up our own CaptainDippy who is still not in the right place healthwise and who is struggling in other ways as well. Lord, bring someone alongside her to guide her, support her, emotionally and practically and please Lord, make her aware of your loving presence.

We praise God for the ability to pray for one another in the certainty that He hears our prayers and deals with them in His infinite wisdom and compassion.

Oops sorry, pasted the wrong youtube link... crown him was for someone else . Try again:

Jesus is my friend

amber32002 · 15/09/2008 16:23

Oh crumbs, lots of people have changed names...and my brain won't accept name changes and link back to people's original info (silly thing...). Do forgive me being a bit baffled for a while...

Meantime, had a truly scary church experience yesterday as they forgot my supporters, then I got something wrong and totally panicked. They've been lovely today in saying sorry and trying to sort it out, though

Prayers for everyone, whoever you are (!)(eek!)

ditheringdora · 15/09/2008 16:30

as a frequent name changer, I must fess up amber32002! Just wanted to send my hellos and God bless to all here. It's lovely to have faith at my fingertips.

dd has been in ambulance today, reacted to nuts somewhere along the line at school, df picked her up, took her to GP no GP so was on way to hosp but stopped at ambulance station as lips were swelling, hyperventilating, hands in spasm. Off duty paramedic gave her her epi pen, salbutamol, hydrocortisone, then more salbutamol. Called emergency ambulance. I met them at a &e as was in work. She is ok now just very high pulse from the adrenalin, and very tired.

Notquitegrownup · 15/09/2008 22:20

NSFN - praise God for your very sensible friend and the off duty paramedic. What a scare for your dd.

Sooz - those photos are wonderful. Your dts look sooo - boingy!

CC - try colief. It's £10 a bottle, but available on prescription if it works for you. It's a bit of a fuss to give, as it needs to be mixed with a little expressed milk, and given before a feed, but it saved my sanity, and probably my marriage too! Totally recommended.

CD - hugs. Hows you?

MJIM - prayers for the lady on your thread, and for your ds's bot, CF!

Namechangers - don't be tempted to do an excel spreadsheet of namechanging - or if you do, don't share it! I remember someone being very told off on MN for doing so once, as it breaks data protection or something!

Hello Amber and Mary . Glad that eveningsnog went well.

God bless all.

Oops!

CaptainCaveman · 15/09/2008 22:47

Thanks NQGU - we used colief with ds1 with MAGIC effect! Will use it with ds2 if screaming persists.

Got him off to sleep with only 15mins of squawking this evening, using the shh/patting 'technique'. Still not convinced he is in pain but maybe I am reading him wrong. He NEARLY smiled today .

Sooz, I may take you up on that at some point - thought of you today as we were in Rushcliffe park having a picnic . Ds2 spent 30 mins screaming and my friends ds2 did about the same, so I was in good company

MaryBS · 16/09/2008 07:39

NSFN - that sounds like it was REALLY scary! How is she this morning? Are you keeping her off school? Praying you get some rest today.

amber32002 · 16/09/2008 09:29

NSFN, adding my prayers and thoughts too - goodness me!

CaptainDippy · 16/09/2008 12:14

Evening All,

Just a quick one to ask for some prayer for myself and DH. I'm struggling with sickness and tiredness from early pg. DH is going away tomorrow for the night and I have to cope with DD by myself on thursday. I could do with some prayers that I will cope and that DD will enjoy ourtime together. DH is under enormous pressure at work and is clearly stressed. Please pray that he will be able to meet his deadline with minimal stress.

I am trying to pray for you all but struggling to keep up atm. Sorry for the selfishness of this post. I'm off to bed now.

Night all
xxx

JentlyDoesIt · 17/09/2008 09:30

MM - Ouchy, sounds painful poor you, hope the splints help.

SS - prayers for you over the next couple of days. Have you ttied the sea sickness bands? They were the only thing that helped when I was v sick whilst pg with DS.

Quick prayer request for me. I have an upset tummy today and am feeling very ropey. I have also had a letter from the hospital saying they want to operate on my wrist on Oct 10th - eeek. It's only day surgery but they still have to fiddle around, releasing tendons I am worried about child care for DS and DD as I can't really afford to put DS into nursery for a whole extra day. Thank you.

CaptainDippy · 17/09/2008 10:48

Oh no MM Praying for quick healing. xx

Poor you SS - I know how hard it is to look after young children when you have MS and feel like rubbish Praying tht your sickness owuld ease soon and you have a fab and special day with DD on Thurs. xx

Surgery sounds no nice Jen Glad it is only day surgery thoguh, praying childcare is sorted easily for you

These doctors just don't think. do they!!? You poor thing MM. xx

CaptainCaveman · 17/09/2008 12:31

mm - perhaps you are not supposed to sleep? How frustrating for you. Praying it isn't too painful for you?

Ok so now I think ds2 has reflux - after me posting that I didn't think he was in pain he has proved me wrong by looking very much like he's in agony after pretty much every feed . Saw gp yesterday who said it was colic but I disagree as you can console him and settle him, whereas I never could with ds1's colic. Going back today to see lovely female gp - please could you pray that I am able to convey to her accurately ds2's symptoms?

JentlyDoesIt · 17/09/2008 14:49

If it is reflux CC, Infant Gaviscon is brill - I used it with DS, just one double sachet a day. He had it from 2 months to 6 months and the reflux never reared it's ugly head again Fingers crossed for you.

Thank you CD, prayers answered already. My mum can't have DS because she has to attend a management training course that day but she has offered to pay the nursery fee lovely lovely mummy! DP has taken the day off too so can manage DD at the hospital, for the (hopefully) short time I am in theatre - eeek again
