@speakout thank you for all your posts where you describe where the moon is and what that means. It helps to make sense of feelings and sometimes even planning. I really appreciate itFlowers

speakout · 10/09/2023 09:27

ISaySteadyOn thankyou! That means a lot to me. x

Many people say they find the energy at Glastonbury rather odd. I've never experienced that and have always come away feeling uplifted. There is something rather intense about it though. Totnes, which is on the same ley line, has a really weird vibe. I couldn't wait to get away!

It's still incredibly humid, but the sky is dark and it feels like a storm is brewing 🤞 My house is a playground for Daddy Long Legs and Moths and everything just feels sticky and unpleasant! I'm ready for Autumn and cooler, crisper air.

@ISaySteadyOn I agree that Speakout's moon updates are excellent 😊 If you're interested in the moon cycles, Kirsty Gallagher's book, Lunar Living, is excellent. It explains everything in a way that's very relatable and easy to understand.

queenrollo · 10/09/2023 12:56

I'm one of those people who find the Glastonbury energy quite difficult. I have been several times. Often prior to the festival which means the energy is very different due to the influx of people but also at other times and I can honestly say that it just attracts some quite damaged people and they always seem to be out in force when I go.
I wonder if I need to go with a witchy friend rather than my family and visit the well etc.

Hills you really have my sympathy on the building work. I am about to enter my third week without a bathroom. We are using our camping toilet in the back garden. I am absolutely desperate for a ritual bath and I had not realised how much my mental health is kept steady them!

HillsBesideTheSea · 10/09/2023 13:33

We have a 12 week delay before the earliest work can restart. We have boxes floor to ceiling in the lounge and dining room to allow appropriate access to the affected rooms. It is 15 weeks til Christmas. I need at least 1 week to work miracles. so fingers crossed for that 2 week window to resolve the situation. In the meantime the chaos is seriously discombobulating, unsettling and generally not making home a pleasant place to relax.
So now i have to figure out how to make it managable in the meantime. running away and joining a circus is not a sensible option, but figuratively it is really rather appealing. it is very hard not to get stuck atm.

Hedjwitch · 10/09/2023 18:58

Have had incredibly heavy rain here and thunder which has cleared the air. Might lift my bad mood over scraping my car quite badly today after being blocked in by another vehicle. Grrr

VioletCharlotte · 10/09/2023 20:29

Hedjwitch yes, same here! The cooler, fresher air feels amazing doesn't it? Sorry to hear about your car, what a nuisance :(

Sympathy going out to those having building work done. I don't like having people working in my home, even if it's just for a few hours, and I can only imagine how difficult it must be when it's going on for a long time and you can't use your kitchen, bathroom, etc. Im sure it'll be lovely when it's all done though.

I've just been looking at details of a new well-being place that's opened up about half an hour down the road from me where you can book a session to use a wood fired sauna and swim in a private lake. I really like the sound of it so have added it to my list of places to visit during my week off.

EmmaEmerald · 11/09/2023 00:40

Violet that sounds amazing!

Craftycorvid · 11/09/2023 07:49

@VioletCharlotte it’s fascinating how differently we feel about different places, isn’t it? I fell in love with Totnes as a teenager when I ended up there on an afternoon ramble with my parents. We holidayed in very seaside-y bits of Devon which left me cold (other than proximity to the sea) but Totnes just called to me! It’s been calling ever since. I’ve had lots of holidays there over the years and, were it not for property prices and traffic, might seriously have thought of relocating down there. It’s by no means the only place where I feel oddly ‘at home’ but is one of the more potent.

Hoping everyone with building or renovation work finds some peace and order. I feel the house and garden are both getting away from me at present. The latest household appliance to resign is the ancient fridge freezer. Goddess knows what horrors lurk behind it when I have to remove it - there will be cobwebs…..

Oxalisspiralis · 11/09/2023 16:19

Hello everyone, I have just finished reading through the very first thread after it popped up on Google and everyone sounded lovely so I'm really pleased to find it's still running and am hoping there's room for one more?

I've been drawn to this path since I was young but other than a period of dabbling in my teens have been too scared to follow any calling towards. However, I have now reached a point where it seems as though ignoring it might not be an option any longer, I am hoping to find some solidarity (and maybe advice) but completely understand if the thread has moved beyond that now, I realise the first one was many years ago so I'm definitely a bit behind!

Wishing you all well.

speakout · 11/09/2023 17:02

Oxalisspiralis a warm welcome.
Grab a comfy chair, there's tea in the pot.
New friends are always welcome, thank you for bringing your bright new energy.
Although our old threads are full of juice and wisdom, no-one here is "behind".
Whether you are a long time lurker a regular poster, at the start of your magical path or have been practicing for decades we are all equal, no boss witch. no rules

Similar topics pop up often whether tarot, magical recipes or celebrating sabbats- feel free to dive into any conversation. Questions are welcome.

It sounds that the universe is calling you to your deeper abundance.
I look forward to hearing a little more and getting to know you.

Thank you for the warm welcome and kind words @speakout, I'm very glad to have found this space and looking forward to getting to know everyone.

The prompt towards accepting this path has been a bit of a strange one. It's hard to explain but my son seems to be quite sensitive and I almost feel that more I ignore certain things myself, the more affected he is.
I'm not even sure if that's possible but it's been a bit of a reoccurring thought of mine lately, especially as he's been struggling so much. I don't quite know what to make of it all but I have a strong feeling it's centered around our home.
I've started trying to put some protection in place and do some very gentle clearing and cleansing (Physically and energy wise) but it feels as though everything I attempt is directly re-targeted almost immediately, I just don't know what to make of it.

SeaEssence · 12/09/2023 06:25

Wondeful morning to all,
I've been keeping up on the thread in passing but had incredibly hectic week at work and another one (not as bad but still) ahead; in the meantime with the temperatures outside I decided to "do the sensible thing" and was all duvets, blankets, and clothes in preparation for the next season, which left me with mountains of laundry I had no time to put away. The house is just chaos, I will be joining some of you in the disruption of the building works soon, the porch frame is falling apart so needs replacing sharpish. To top it off, yesterday I came home to find the dog had pooped all around the floor (he has not done that since puppy). I'm desperate for something to calm the chaos around me, I know tidying up around me is important but I won't be able to do it properly before the weekend (hubby and son will do bits but no proper scrub). Any suggestions are very welcome, sorry for the long rant.

@Hedjwitch sorry about your car

@Craftycorvid hope all goes well with Mr C's coming back home

@Oxalisspiralis welcome

DelightfullyDotty · 12/09/2023 19:05

Hello all, I’m an on/off lurker. I’ve been interested in witchcraft for a while but I never seem to get around to doing anything practical….I’m more the “float around daydreaming” type. I always feel better when I do so I shall try to make more of an effort to keep up with the thread and incorporate some magical stuff into my life!

I’m feeling a bit lost because I had my special place near Cambridge, where I would go every day to walk my dogs and talk to the trees. It’s an ancient earthworks and I think it’s on the Mary line. I felt safe and protected there and although the place I now live (the general Yorkshire area🙂) is beautiful, I can’t find anywhere with the same atmosphere. I don’t seem to belong here.

Anyway, I hope it’s ok if I join you.

HillsBesideTheSea · 12/09/2023 19:16

My calm place is nearly 300 miles away. it is like going home. but i haven't been back in 5years now. I will when i can. But nowhere else feels the same. I find it helps to not expect anywhere else to feel the same. You will find another place that you will feel calm, but it won't be the same calm and that is ok. I have local places i can go to. It helps. but going back will always be better iyswim

Welcome aboard.

VioletCharlotte · 12/09/2023 19:55

@Craftycorvid I'm probably not being very to Totnes. I visited early evening in November, so didn't see it at its best! I'm glad you have memories of some lovely holidays there. I feel the same about parts of the New Forest where we used to go for caravan holidays when I was little.

Welcome @Oxalisspiralis and @DelightfullyDottyams welcome back @SeaEssence. Grab a cushion and join us round the fire. There's plenty of tea in the pot 😊 It's always good to meet newcomers and to see old friends again. One of the things I love about this thread is how the conversation weaves back and forth, sometimes discussing new topics, often going back over things we discuss regularly.

It's finally starting to feel a bit more autumnal here, the temperature has dropped and it's been raining lightly on and off all day. It's nice to have the curtains closed and feel cosy indoors, and I'm enjoying the stillness of the dark moon energy.

VioletCharlotte · 12/09/2023 19:59

That should have said 'very fair to Totnes'

Craftycorvid · 12/09/2023 20:03

@VioletCharlotte you have got me thinking about some objectively lovely places that have just given me the ick for no reason. Mr C and I once did a walk in North Yorkshire that took us through a quiet rocky gulley and I had this feeling that something very ancient and unfriendly there just wanted us to eff off. I have never been so relieved to happen on a village with a busy pub in it. Nearer to home, there are one or two places that leave me feeling awful - sad and oppressed. Isn’t it fascinating?

DelightfullyDotty · 12/09/2023 21:10

@HillsBesideTheSea thanks🙂.

It can be difficult for me to know how much of the ‘off’ feeling of a place is due to my anxiety. I went to Bartlow Hills, which are the biggest Roman burial mounds in Northern Europe but they’ve been neglected and hardly anyone visits. The atmosphere felt awful but I’m not sure whether that was just because of my anxiety.

There’s a burial mound next to my special place (Wandlebury ring) and sometimes it feels off and something will happen if I walk to the top, like I’ll trip or one of the dogs will get covered in sticky balls! It feels like it only wants me there when I’m mentally strong. So not very often!

There’s a man on YouTube called Tim Walter and he’s a geomancer. I got in touch with him and he told me to use a pendulum over a map to help me find some special places but I haven’t done it yet.

Craftycorvid · 13/09/2023 06:47

A Pagan friend says that, in his experience, some places are fine to visit at certain times of the year but not at others. He’s found a definite warning vibe from some stone circles during the winter months but not in spring or summer. When I visited the alignments at Carnac I felt a lot of pressure in my head when near the stones, a bit like the feeling of standing too close to high voltage power lines.

speakout · 13/09/2023 07:42

I think there are definitely some places with bad energy, often it is best to just avoid. My local ( small) town has lots of old alleyways flanked by old empty properties and crumbling walls. I often experience clairaudience. Usually that's fine, I sometimes stop, place my hands on the old walls and listen to sounds from the past I can hear children singing and laughing, women talking, babies crying. But one particular alley has sounds of trauma. fear, violence. Even though it is the most direct way to the shops I take a slightly longer route to avoid hearing the upsetting voices.

I often work with the genius loci when I move, all places have them and there is usually always some good energy to tap into wherever we are. Molly Roberts has a good video on youtube about working with the genius loci.
If you want to know how the energy of your own genius loci looks, then you can do some scrying work, Tarot meditation, just to give an indication of how the energy feels.
Today is a good day for gazing deeply and using our intuition using the Balsamic Moon, the dark moon is a wonderful time to immerse in the deep, do shadow work see the unseen.

What do or did you tell your children about witchcraft as we discuss here? I was wondering what to say.

I have had a terrible day and am feeling really alone with it. I couldn't get DS into school yet again and I am reaching the end of my tether. I am right back where I was in the summer term. No new start for me. We argued this evening about a computer game but it wasn't about the game really as these things aren't.

I don't know if I can manage home educating a 9 yo and a 12 yo but it is looking increasingly like I am going to have to try. I know the school wants to help but realistically there is nothing they can do short of dragging him in. And I feel such a failure.

Not helped by the fact that I had a 7 inch male spider drop from my ceiling onto my bare leg this morning 🕷️.

DelightfullyDotty · 13/09/2023 18:28

That’s really interesting that you hear those things…it seems a bit more definite than just feeling them.

Thanks for posting the video. I mentioned the genius loci to my son, who (as autistic mathematician) found it hilarious and said I was pronouncing loci wrong😀. I provide endless amusement!

DelightfullyDotty · 13/09/2023 18:38

@ISaySteadyOn you’re not a failure in any way!! I had to take my eldest out of school at the beginning of year 8 but the homeschooling didn’t work for us because at the time everything seemed to be against me and I was dealing with my abusive ex and undiagnosed bpd mother (but didn’t realise). Nothing really worked - he just didn’t fit into the school system as a dyslexic, creative type.

DelightfullyDotty · 13/09/2023 18:46

@ISaySteadyOn No one takes my witchy/spiritual stuff seriously so I tend to make a joke out of it. My son comes into my room to find out what silly video mum is watching today!
