Together we can raise some powerful energy and I’m very grateful to be able to join with my sisters in this way.
I will keep my candle burning after our 8pm connection in solidarity with the people of Plymouth who experienced such horrors last night. I will add my energy to their 9pm candlelit vigil

Friday 13th is a special day for me, Mini Toto was born on a Friday 13th.

I went to a loiter witchy magic shop today, I had a tarot reading and bought some lovely soap. The soap is apple and ivy scented - absolutely divine! It is made by the lady running the shop.

@HillsBesideTheSea how are you feeling now?

speakout · 14/08/2021 06:14

HillsBesideTheSea a very upifing video- thankyou.
I do follow Collette from Beataine, but I havenlt seen that video yet.
TotoAnnihiliation how lovely! My DD passed her driving test on Friday 13th- she now says she has reclaimed that day and it is now her "lucky day"!
I love the sound of the shop- and the soap. No good witchy shops in my area, but do have a place selling lovely hand made soap. I love bar soap, I keep it on a flat river stone I use as a soap dish. The soap comes wrapped in paper , the one I have on the go at the moment is Magnolia and Pear. It's a huge bar, but I haven;t tired of the scent yet. Gives me a lift every time I use it. All part of self care isn't it.
I hope everyone had a restful night. Off to a Body Pump class this morning. Not feeling it right now, but I know I will feel good when it has finished!

Still a bit off sorts but I got a blue spark off a light switch so I am heading towards normal Grin Still working on nutrition and general basic care. I am finding that I am almost passing out with exhaustion around 9:30/10pm which is unusual for me as an extreme night owl but it is needed so rolling with it.

Slightly excited because I had an email letting me know that my order of witchy and witchy adjacent books is out for delivery... So that should keep me out of trouble for a while.

Did anyone manage to get out to watch the shooting stars (not even going to attempt to spell the official name sorry)? I meant to go but fell asleep and had to appologise to the friend who i was supposed to meet up with on one of the local hills where the light pollution is so much less.

VioletCharlotte · 14/08/2021 17:24

Toto sounds like a lovely day yesterday. We haven't got any witchy shops locally.Your soap sounds gorgeous, I love anything apple scented.

Speakout I hope you enjoyed the Body Pump. I couldn't face it this morning so decided to do Pilates instead (which was actually a lot tougher than I expected!)

Hills it's sounds like you really need the rest, it's good that you're listening to your body and allowing yourself to sleep when you need to. I didn't see the shooting stars (I forgot unfortunately!)

I'm really tired too, my neck and shoulders feel so stiff, which is always a sign I need to relax. I've dedicated this weekend to taking it easy, the last couple have been busy and very social and it's taken it's toll. I went for a lovely walk on the forest with my dog earlier. This afternoon it's suddenly got really hot so I'm sitting in the garden with my book. I've booked myself a massage tomorrow as a treat to myself - can't wait!

LumpySpacedPrincess · 14/08/2021 20:11

Took myself off for the day for a long walk and an aimless bus ride. It was lovely just looking out the window watching the world go by. Simple pleasures are the best. I really value time to myself too which I don't get much of. I love the idea of a flat stone for a soap dish, perfect! I also prefer soap to gels, they just make you feel cleaner, less waste and cheaper.

speakout · 14/08/2021 20:13

VioletCharlotte I am glad to hear you have booked a massage. I also feel the strain in my shoulders and nck when I am carrying too much emotional burden. It is wonderful to hear of your self care.
HillsBesideTheSea Good to hear things are a little calmer. I know grounding outside was not working for you so well, but perhaps taking a little soil or stones inside and making a finger touch place may work?
Barefoot inside is always good too, and not as direct as earthing, we usually have flooring, but a half way house? Also running water- mains water is earthed and grounded in all houses , so even running fingers, wrist or a foot will help ground.

Just dashing in to say I'm still reading but no time to actually respond properly. Life is manic and the universe has thrown a series of problems at me all at once so am using all possible skills to deal with them and hope to be back to normal soon!

speakout · 15/08/2021 10:34

I hope everyone is having a relaxed day. It's a chilly 11 degrees here today and overcast. Once I pick up my mother from church I plan to visit an outdoor junk yard today. A real old fashioned place, with indoor barns too for furnishings. It overlooks the sea on a stretch of unspoilt coastline too. I do love a good root around!

I’ve just visited the lovely Stanton Drew Circle in Somerset. They had a nice feeling and the upright stones were warm to the touch. Young cows were sharing the field.

Hills, yes, I saw them, post upthread on Fri 13th but here's a c+p if like me you can't find the exact post you're looking for when you want to
"Did anyone else see the Perseids last night? It was the best night for frequency, but if there's a clear night for the next few nights, do look. Our sky was crystal clear, the Plough was dead ahead, the Milky Way made its sparkling arc and the Perseids were incredible. What a start to Friday 13th, every atom of my being was singing." Halloween Smile

Trenzalor Lovely Photos. Stanton Drew is one site I've not visited yet, I'm pretty sure it was there that Freddy Silva had a 'download' from a stone. More of his stoney observations here. www.invisibletemple.com/extra/megalithic-sites-more-than-stone.html

Lovely to hear of everyone's joy in simple pleasures, it's definitely what life's about.

Trenzalor · 15/08/2021 14:17

Thank you for that link @BlankTimes. I will have a good read later. I would’ve liked to have spent more time there, but my children were already complaining of hunger (!) and it was starting to get busy.

Aerwyna · 15/08/2021 16:12

Lovely to hear of everyone's joy in simple pleasures, it's definitely what life's about.

It really is isn’t it BlankTimes, I’ve been reminding myself of this recently after a bit of a slump. Inspired by Trenzalor I’ve been visiting our past selves on the old threads. I love the energy of us all sharing these pleasures day by day. I was particularly struck by this as we entered lockdown. Sharing the different ways we all punctuated our days by enjoying a lit candle, throwing open windows to let the air in, connecting with the moon, enjoying birdsong and the joy of growing things and so on..
Things I know many of us enjoy at all times but during such a strange time our sharing these things added up to what many of us called an oasis of calm in an otherwise difficult phase for many.

It’s wonderful to hear of your joy of seeing the perseids, of Violet booking herself a massage, speakout off for a rummage in the junk yard, Lumpy’s aimless bus ride, Trenzalor’s visit to those wonderful stones, Hill’s excitement at the imminent arrival of books and everything else our sisters share about the joy they find in life.

Thank you all for the comfort and inspiration this brings. It’s helped me pick myself up and refocus many a time.

My simple pleasure today is in my tiny oak sapling. It was growing in the lawn and I relocated it to a large pot. I thought I’d killed it off, the leaves it had died, but yesterday I saw it had four new tiny leaves and was standing proud. I can’t tell you how delighted I was!

Enjoy the little things friends- they are really the big things 🌳

speakout · 15/08/2021 17:28

Yes I agree too BlankTimes a good reminder- it really is the small things that count.
How lovely to nurture that oak tree Aerwyna, think where that may be in 100 years time. And in the lifetime of that tree one oak will absorb 200 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere- that is a huge thing to do!!!
I love hearing about all the small but important things too.
@AnotherCrazyBirdLady I'm sending you protective energy from my home to yours. I have hagstones hidden in my home that I believe offer protection. I am so sorry that you have been scared in your own home.

@speakout I completed one of the online DNA tests. I was interested to find that on my maternal grandmothers line we had links to Norway. It was much stronger in her test result, I've been diluted down by two generations. I wonder if that dna gave both me and grandma our red hair?
I’m interested in the DNA digging. I did a test a couple of years ago but it didn’t tell me from which line they come from or how far back. I did an ancestry one. It just says percentages of DNA.
How can I get more specific results?

speakout · 16/08/2021 11:14

SwimmingUnderwater

There are several website for deeper digging, I used mytrueancestry.com
You need to download the raw data from the site that did your analysis ( I used ancestry.co.uk) and upload it to a site like mytruesncestry who will compare your DNA to DNA found at archeological sites.
A primary analysis is free, but you can pay if you want more detailed results.
It sounds complicated, but was quite easy, with step by step instructions on how to download and upload data.
Good luck!

OP posts:
SwimmingUnderwater · 16/08/2021 11:19

Ah! Thanks for that. How do I upload the raw data? I tried this a year or so ago but couldn’t work it out

speakout · 16/08/2021 11:28

I am no techie, once you have downloaded the raw data file, just hit upload file on the website and select your raw data file, just a couple of clicks should do it.

OP posts:
SwimmingUnderwater · 16/08/2021 16:57

Thank you. I am waiting to download the raw data now. Do you mind which site you used to analyse it further?
