The only problem with enchanting some hand salve you make for the healing properties to help you get through rough times at work, is that when you need to used it to treat large areas for the healing reasons you made it, you get an extra large dose of the intentions stirred in.
I might need to make a non enchanted batch, works a treat though even if i am walking around super calm and all floaty Grin

Welcome to the thread Mysteise
Glad your daughter is recovering well Speakout

Greetings and magical days to all who i have missed, contributors or lurkers alike

speakout · 03/06/2021 15:56

Aerwyna no storm here either, I was hopeful earlier but heavy cloud has given way to more sunshine.
A calm day here, pottering around getting household tasks done. Still busy, but it feels good to be focussed on my surroundings rather than work.
Managed to get a little painting job finished, clothes washed and outside to dry. Tidied and mopped my front porch- staked up all my tomatoes and set everything in order.
Was just enjoying a relaxing moment- but a neighbour has started with a power tool- building a pergola.
Hey ho!!
HillsBesideTheSea your salve sounds like powerful stuff!

Morning all!
I've been plodding along here at home. Saw my parents in their home at the beginning of the week for the first time since the very first lockdown!
Had my hair cut yesterday, much shorter than anticipated but hopefully it is going to rescue it. I lost so much of it the last few months, and am now on HRT and hoping it will help it improve. But a shorter cut was needed to make it more manageable in the meantime.

Planned an evening of selfcare yesterday - painting my nails! Instead I spent it rescuing a bat and getting it where it needed to go. Unfortunately it was too poorly to survive, but we did our very best for it.
Am enjoying the sun very much, it really energises me.

Blessings to all x

Good evening sisters Halloween Smile I got bumped off the thread again.
LOL Hills I have a picture of you floating around totally blissed throughout your day, I'd not do the non-enchanted version, nothing wrong with walking on air through the day!

Speakout great to hear those positive updated as your DD gains strength, you can both rest awhile together now.
Was just enjoying a relaxing moment- but a neighbour has started with a power tool- building a pergola.
Ha, tell me about it. I can't find my window opening gadget, purpose made for the kitchen window as I can't reach the catch unless I sit on the worksurface and perform advanced yoga postures. I've managed without opening it until yesterday and I asked the Fae to return the gadget last night. They obviously think it's much more fun to watch me do it this way, so around lunchtime, I opened the kitchen window after taping flyscreens over another couple so we get a lovely breeze through the house. We've had a lot of agri traffic, someone's had builders, lots of visitors to the village walking and hiking and around 6pm it's started to quieten down and someone has the stinkiest 'barbecue' going, the rancid fat stench is vile, it smells like burger king and I've had to put the fans on inside my house to get rid of it. Grrr, grump.

On a better note, the sun was low in the sky and it backlit one of the peonies in the garden, DD took a few pics, here they are, they've survived the torrential rain, hail, severely cold and now tropical temperatures, I'm surprised they've all done so well.

Have a magical weekend Sisters !

Good evening Smile I'm just catching up on all the posts, this weeks been a busy one. I've had this afternoon off and have been enjoying some goddess pampering. I've had my hair coloured, and also had my nails done. I don't normally bother with nails so this was a nice treat. I feel quite glam for once!

Speakout I'm so pleased your DD is feeling better, I hope you've had a lovely day with her today. I imagine she is on need of some nurturing and some company after so much time on her own.

Aerwyna good to see you, we didn't have a storm here either. It's been incredibly humid though. I had a 'thunder headache' on Wednesday. This morning I woke up to gentle rain, the air felt so much fresher.

Mysteise welcome to the thread, it's lovely to have your with us Smile

Queenrollo a few of my friends have recently started on HRT, they say it's helping so I hope it works for you too. Menopause is such a drag isn't it?

Blanktimes thank you for sharing those photos of your beautiful plants. I absolutely love peonies. I know what you mean about BBQs! The man next door always seems to light his smelly, charcoal BBQ when my washing is out - so annoying!

speakout · 06/06/2021 07:36

Good morning sisters, another bright sunny start to the day here, I am loving the laundry magic!
queenrollo I hope you enjoyed your evening of self care- sounds just the ticket, and always time well spent. Sorry to hear about the little bat, you did what you could, and gave some nurturing energy for its passing.
I also saw some bats on Friday evening plus lots of dear who were most reluctant to move from the road. It lifts my heart to see wildlife. We have been having a lot of woodpecker activity around me this year, more than normal, I love the sound they make.
BlankTimes I am smiling as you descibe your advanced yoga in an effort to open the window. I have a corner food cupbiard that needs either a chair to reach ( effort) or I climb up onto the worktop ( also effort), usually it's the climb method!
I love peonies too, I remember my father growing them in profusion when I was a child. I was always facinated by their bood red colour, the softness of the leaves. Once the blooms were finished I loved to leaf through the falling petals, like velvet to the touch, and the reveal the elongated furry seed cases. Often home to earwigs too- we called them clipshears in my area.
VioletCharlotte self care seems a theme, good to hear of you nurturing your divine spirit.
My DD is much better, it was so good to see her. She ate home cooked lunch and dinner, and we ended the day with a cuddle on the sofa and watched Downton Abbey. Her energy is still low- she did go to her part time job yesterday which was quite taxing. She was scheduled for a 13 hour shift at the hospital today, but called me last night as she wasn't sure she would be able. I reassured her that her colleagues would understand, and that taking time off to recuperate is valid even though she is over her illness.
Thank you all for your energy and healing intentions.
I am off for a lime and coconut spa shower his morning, then some easy yoga, just some movement with ease to bring some new energy of the day into my spirit.
Catch the magic sisters.

Good morning! I've had an old friend staying who is also witchy and magical and it's been manic but lovely. Heading down to hers today for a photoshoot and some pony cuddles and staying overnight - it feels very strange to be doing something so normal as packing an overnight bag!

I'm tired but happy :)

I'm so glad your DD is better speakout and the time with you sounds like exactly what she needed to recuperate.

Dashing out so no time to catch up properly but will do when I'm home. Have a magical Sunday!

VioletCharlotte · 06/06/2021 13:43

Speakout I'm so glad you're DD is feeling better. I'm sure her team will understand she needs to rest and recuperate. At my Trust, we've got a really good Wellbeing offer in place for our staff, and managers are encouraged to let those who have been ill take the time they need to recover properly. In pre COVID days, there was often a lot of pressure on people to get back to the wards, but finally they seem to have realised that if people go back too soon, they end up going off again.

Hilariousnamehere sounds like you're having a fabulous weekend, it's so wonderful to be able to spend time with friends again isn't it? Hope you have a lovely time.

It's cooler here today, about 18 degrees which is perfect for me. I don't cope well with hot weather! I've been to the garden centre and bought lots of plants to do my pots and hanging baskets. I'm heading off to the forest now for a walk with my dog.

Love to you all Smile

Aerwyna · 06/06/2021 14:01

Hills your enchanted hand salve sounds like powerful stuff! Super calm and floaty sounds ideal. I agree with BlankTimes, I’d stick with that one!

queenrollo it’s lovely to see you and hear of you energised by the sun. Sad news about the bat but it’s heartening to hear that you gave it the best chance. I had similar with a hoglet and took comfort from her being in the right hands even though she didn’t make it.

BlankTimes thank you for sharing those beautiful photos. Your DD has such a talent for photography, her pictures are always full of such divine energy and it feels like there’s a real fae presence in your garden.

Violet I’m pleased to hear you found some time for pampering, so important when life gets busy. I hope you enjoy your forest walk and that your DS is settling in nicely, watched over by the green man.

speakout it warms my heart to hear of your DD much better and taking some time for recuperation too. The nurturing you have provided her is magic and I’m glad to hear of you listening to your own needs to. It’s very inspiring.

hilarious pony cuddles and time with an old friend sound wonderful! I hope the photo shoot goes well and that you’re able to carve out the time you need for rest too.

Self care is a theme for me at the moment too. I was reminded by a wise friend yesterday of the need to give time for healing processes. I needed to hear it as I can be impatient- such a gift of support- I wasn’t seeing the wood for the trees. I struggle to see feeling weary as productive but of course it’s all part of a necessary process and takes as long as it takes. So one foot in front of the other again, feeling what is the right pace as I go, feeling gratitude for the gift of friendship.

Wishing everyone a magical afternoon

speakout · 06/06/2021 20:22

hilariousnamehere
I hope you have had an amazing day- working with ponies sounds just fantastic.
VioletCharlotte Thankyou for your wise words, my DD has been resting, but also catching up with essential stuff - food shopping and washing her bedding etc that she has been unable to do while unwell. Your trust employer sounds understanding. Nursing shifts are hard- and often will be 3 x 13 and a half our shifts back to back, so absolutely no time to do anything between shifts except sleep, wash and eat. It takes some preparation to have clean ironed uniforms, food at home and to take to work ahead of time.
THanks for understanding- this is all new to me!!
Aerwyna "one foot in front of the other" - such wisdom in those words. I am glad you are supported.
A revolution and realisation of self worth is much needed for us women, for my amazing sisters. Acts of self care are acts of care for others. Having strong women who are humane are the queenpins of our society.
Wear your crowns sisters!

Another fine morning here, the dawn chorus is in full trill. I like to pick out individual bird songs as I listen, some are easy, others I don;t recognise, and more often it is such a full orchestra it is hard to differentiate any at all!
I have a sunrise yoga class his morning, a little treat at a wellness centre in a country estate just a mile from me. A little pricy for regular attendance, but as a one off just to inject some enthusiam into my practice. I have another new class booked for tomorrrow morning too, but a local authority class- a fraction of the price, but I am sure the teaching will be just as good. It feels good to be able to attend classes again after such a long time in lockdown. Just having my un-yogi strong coffee before I get ready!
I am seeking balance this week, always a work in progress, and sometimes I have to remind myself to keep aspects within my life in a healthy state.
Whether its time or energy given towards work, play or activities, or the preservation of headspace. I have that familiar tendency to take on the problems of others as my own- even though others are old enough to hold their own challenges. I can care, help and support of course, but need to remember I don't have ownership of other people's problems.
My affirmation for today is the word light. I will explore the energy over the course of my day.
Out for a Thai meal tonight will already lighten my load in the kitchen later!
Have a great day friends.

OP posts:
Aerwyna · 08/06/2021 14:49

speakout your description of the dawn chorus is divine. I love hearing about your mindfulness practice of identifying the bird song, what great energy to start the day with! I hope your sunrise yoga was nourishing to your soul.

I agree with your wise words on balance. I have that same tendency too. I think when we’re good, and well practiced, at supporting others with their problems it can take concerted and repeated effort to remember that they are ultimately not our responsibility. I agree that ownership part is key to not becoming overwhelmed- being a conduit not a vessel. I think your affirmation ‘light’ is so pertinent in this context, for our own peace of mind we must practice holding things- situations, concerns, responsibilities.. as lightly as we can (positive and less so alike) they have their own life force and momentum as do we. You give so much to others I hope you feel the blessings of the goddess for yourself today

VioletCharlotte · 08/06/2021 20:05

I hope you enjoyed your early morning yoga Speakout It's so wonderful to be back in class again isn't it? I went to a class last night and it was so lovely to practice as a group. This studio has a beautiful view over open fields, there's some silver birch tress I always love to look at, they're so graceful, they almost feel like part of the class. The sun was setting as I we went into Shavasana, it was just perfect!

I found myself nodding in agreement to your words about balance, and to your reply Aerwyna. I too have a tendency to take on others problems as my own. Like you, I've got a few people around me going through various things, and my instinct is to try and help and attempt to 'fix' things for them. I have to remind myself regularly to step back, be there to support as needed, but to let them work their way through the challenges they face along their path.

I'm finding it difficult to concentrate at work this week. The weather is so lovely, I want to be outside! I've stumbled across a new Facebook group where people share photos of wild swimming, so I'm now dreaming of swimming in clear water fed by waterfalls in Wales!

My early yoga class was lovely- a little challenging, but enjoyable. Thank you for your words Aerwyna, I see echoes of myself in what you say too.
VioletCharlotte Your photographs are beautiful, so full of raw energy- that water looks so inviting. I agree too with your words about being "fixers" I find myself in that role too often!
So many aspects to that too though -if things go wrong for family members I know I am the first one they willl seek to help. I am always glad to help, but there are other issues to consider too. My welfare being one, taking ownership of problems is another.
A toddler working out how to peel a banana is not something we would jump in and do for the child, even though that feels like the easier option. as they learn it is something they need to work out. But we can help in little ways, we can sit on the sidelines and give verbal instruction, encouragement, we can also peel a banana alongside them, we can make a little cut with a knife at the top so the part of "cracking" the banana is easier.

In giving help to others we need to find balance. I have to remind myself regularly to step back, be there to support as needed, but to let them work their way through the challenges they face along their path. wise words.
And we need to consider our own needs. As women and mothers we are so accustomed to putting ourselves last.
Caring for our own needs is a huge priority- and needs balance to make sure that aspect is also given consideration.

Another fine day, a little cloudier and a little fresher, I have another morning yoga class. Again one I have not been to- but just in the next village- a council run gym- this time the hour costs £2.10!
It's also next door to an amazing little bakery, a woman who runs the shop does devilishly good creations of highly calorific goodies!! So I think a stop there afterwards is on the cards!

Hello Sisters, flying by to announce, just in case you'd missed the notifications, there's a partial solar eclipse which will be visible from the UK tomorrow morning.

The partial solar eclipse 2021 will start at 10:07am BST on Thursday 10 June in the UK

More details here www.sciencefocus.com/space/solar-eclipse-2021-uk/

HillsBesideTheSea · 09/06/2021 21:29

Thank you blank times nor sure that we will be allowed to bunk class to go watch though

I have been playing in the mud and dirt tonight (apparently other people call it gardening, but tbh i think i am rather covered in it besides it is rather fun and enjoyable)

Also bought some house plants.

I hope you all have pleasent and relaxing evening full of things that can spark moments of joy.

hilariousnamehere · 09/06/2021 22:45

Hello sisters! I am full of joy and the energy that friendship brings - though four days with people depleted me and I spent most of yesterday just savouring the silence and reacquainting myself with my home - I'd only been away one night and friend was here two, but it's such a long time since anyone stayed or I stayed away that there was magic just in being back, home and alone in my sanctuary.

Visit was gorgeous, shoot went well and her space was witchy heaven. And this evening I had an unexpected dinner guest of another close friend, so we ate in the garden and put the world to rights and I feel like myself again.

Small magics, but important ones :)

In other news I am on the hunt for a flower press and starting a new sketchbook/scrapbook/journal hybrid, which always feels like good energy full of potential. I weave emotions into the pages as I go, too.

I'm absorbing and percolating all your wise words on energy and boundaries and not taking on others' problems to fix - and my brain is whirring away! Have held some good boundaries in last few days and have managed to let go of something which was a real timesuck - I'm not thrilled but I can already feel the headspace it's cleared.

Broomstick at the ready for the next few days!

speakout · 10/06/2021 16:17

Lovely to feel the fresh energy on the thread, thanks for the link Blanktimes I didn't see the eclipse, it has been overcast and dull all day- but very windy and warm.
HillsBesideTheSea guddling about in the earth sounds a tonic. Very therapeutic.
hilariousnamehere I understand what you mean about coming home after a trip, I always feel that too, especially after being away for a week or two. The first few days home feel like another very cosy holiday as my energy re-integrates. I love the sound of pressing flowers, although I have only done so with blotting paper and heavy books. Pressing between pages of books is lovely too, but needs some absorbant paper to avoid damaging the pages.
Having an old book with the odd surprise of a pressed flower is so special.
This weather is quite strange right now, hardly any sun, and despite thick cloud for days not a drop of rain.

OP posts:
BlankTimes · 10/06/2021 17:55

Sadly it was too overcast here to get even a glimpse of the partial eclipse, but I did try.

At least the whole country wasn't too overcast, there are some lovely photos of it here
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-57426005

Ah yes Speakout I remember old thick books with pressed flowers, I've not seen any modern books big or heavy enough to use these days. Another sign of the times, they are a-changing i guess.

Our weather's had lots of dry spells since the temperatures rocketed, interspersed with heavy storms, nothing mediocre. for the last few days it's been searingly hot and dry with no breeze, not my favourite at all.

speakout · 10/06/2021 18:20

BlankTimes

Yes, not many big heavy tomes around these days. I think the heaviest book I own is The Element Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells. 1200 pages and over 2 Kg. www.amazon.com/Element-Encyclopedia-5000-Spells-Reference/dp/0007164653?tag=mumsnetforu03-21
Would press anything well!

OP posts:
BlankTimes · 10/06/2021 18:29

Yes, Speakout I have that too, it was a gift from someone who knows me very well Halloween Grin

As a child, I often stayed with relatives on a farm and the beds were really high. They made me 'steps' from old books, so I could get in and out of bed. The books were larger overall page-size wise, but about the same thickness, all leather bound with ridges on the spines.
I think you only see those in stately homes these days.

VioletCharlotte · 11/06/2021 07:10

Good morning sisters. I'm up early this morning, the birds were singing and it's so light that I gave up on sleep around 6. I'm enjoying a coffee in bed before I get ready to start the day.

Blanktimes I didn't see your post about the eclipse until after the event sadly! It was quite cloudy here yesterday morning though so I don't think it would have been visible.

I remember pressing flowers inside heavy books too! I was a bridesmaid when I was 6 or 7 and had a lovely post of fresh flowers that my Mum helped me press. I think we used my Dad's atlas of the world.

Hilariousnamehere I can sense how your visit with your friend had uplifted you, your energy is joyous and light. I understand exactly what you mean about coming ho, to your own sanctuary. I love holidays but I'm always pleased to come home.

I can't quite believe we're almost at the solstice. The wheel seems to be turning faster than usual this year. I'm enjoying the light, evenings now it's warmer. I went for a long walk with friends last night, saw some deer, rabbits and squirrels, I love that feeling of the earth being alive.

speakout · 11/06/2021 08:27

VioletCharlotte how wonderful to hear your energy and life force, nurtured by the year and life around you. I hope it carries you through your day.
I was up early too, did an energising sun salutation, and the word "Accept" dropped into my mind. I will muse over that today.
Sometimes we can be frustrrated when things don't aways go to plan or the way we want, often we can't change.
Theer are times for action , but times to take a back step and consider. Again links to balance!
DD is coming over today to spend the night, so I am about to blitz the bathroom and toilet to freshen things up and make the house welcoming.
Also cooking one of her favouorite meals.
So a calm nurturing day ahead here.

Sending divine energy to all.
