Or Wiccans. or Pagans? Or anyone who is interested in a magical path or feels some magical stirrings.

A place for support, learning, swapping ideas and magical inspiration.

Thank you @YashmisCrone for posting the link for me and everyone who's said nice things about my page (insert blushing icon). I started it partly to rekindle my folk practice and partly to tease the friends who gave me the nickname in the first place but I'm enjoying the additional motivation it's given me. I sat through a videocon this morning quietly stringing rowan berries which is a job I generally dislike. chatting with a friend though made the task go quickly. We were discussing healing hopefully some of that energy is trapped in my strings.

Life is calming down a bit now and I've actually been to the pub last night - OK only 3 of us in a private room but it's a start of the long return to "normal".

Hoping to be around a bit more now :)

Elphame I love your page too, it's so interesting and informative. I'm really enjoying reading your posts and learning loads!

queenrollo · 19/08/2020 18:41

Another one here to say that I love Elphames page. Really inspiring.

Today saw a family reunion at my house, a very emotional one. Often my mother has despaired at how 'forward' I can be - but this time it resulted in a much needed coming together of estranged generations. Particularly as one member is going to need to support in the near future.
This is where I feel my magic really lies - in healing people when they are in need. I am very contented tonight.

KatherineParr4 · 19/08/2020 21:45

Wow! Just had a look at Elphame's facebook page. It's amazing. I think there were some other links posted on the last thread but I can't find them. Was I imagining it?

How lovely to hear of your successful family renunion, and the important part you played. Magic indeed.
I have spent many years being told some of my character traits are flaws by my mother- but have actualy come to think those traits are some of the things I most like about myself.
I have been doing a lot of shadow work connected to the "motherwound" which has helped.
Many women of a certain age and generation have been told that being "forward" is not a "nice" thing. That women should be quiet, submissive, accepting, keep the peace- it has been this way for a long time.
But in fact some of the most loving things we can do is when we find our warrior spirit, when we speak up, when we challenge and question and make things happen. The very opposite of being polite and accepting.
So I am happy to hear you finding your warrior and doing such loving and fearless things- despite the criticism! Go woman!

@speakout thank you for the wise words and facebook links
@Elphame your page is brilliant, really inspiring

I'm in need of calming today. My heart is racing and my stomach is fluttery. Any calming spells/ideas/rituals much appreciated

MarineAqua · 20/08/2020 11:45

Yes. I have recently discovered that I am a witch. Not through intentional practise, rather I've stumbled across it. I also dabble in eastern philosophy and very recently it seems my third eye is opening. Feeling a bit overwhelmed by it. And I haven't told anyone yet because they'll think I'm nuts!!

Elphame · 20/08/2020 12:05

@rivierliedje Thank you :)

Can you take yourself out for a walk? I find that the best solution. Meditation is all very good but if you're really jittery and stressed it can be hard to let go enough to relax enough to meditate.

I also play myself binaural beats quietly through my phone. They work by playing a different frequency into each ear so you have to use ear pieces but depending on the frequency to pick you can quickly change your brainwaves into a more relaxed alpha state. There are plenty of free phone apps out there.

Combining a walk with the binaurals would be even better!

There are some herbs that can help if you have any? Lavender and lemon balm are my favourites but there are others. Mint tea usually works for me too

I so agree with you. I would love to know what you are doing to heal your mother wound. Mine is a huge gaping wound, bleeding constantly.
rivierliedje · 20/08/2020 20:09

Thank you @Elphame
Unfortunately I was stuck at work, but home now. Going to light a candle and sit with it, then head out in to the wind and rain to blow the cobwebs away. There is a great verb for this in Dutch: uitwaaien, which literally means to be blown out, not as in to blow out candles, but to have fresh air blown in to you, to be blown about, to have your mind refreshed by the wind.

mymoonshift · 20/08/2020 22:12

Evening sisters. I wondered if you could offer some guidance. I have always felt a magical presence and have always been in tune with nature, the universe and crystal healing.

I wondered if there were any practising wiccans in this group? I have been thinking about converting for a while now and have decided to commit fully. How did you get into Wicca and is there any groups/literature etc you would recommend? Thank you.

BlankTimes · 21/08/2020 02:38

Elphame I don't have FB so can only read a bit, but I've enjoyed what you've written immensely. Think you've found a new outlet for your talents there Halloween Grin

KatherineParr4 Mine evaporated the day I realised in some sort of very profound way that no matter how hard I tried, I'd never be good enough, so it simply didn't matter.
After that, any negativity just washed right over me and never hurt me any more. It changed the whole dynamic because I wasn't striving to meet impossible standards, I could just be very Zen about it.

rivierliedje Great advice so far, particularly as it's not a great idea to do any form of working when you're in a state. If you can't get outside, Rescue Remedy is a firm favourite of mine alongside pranayama, from yoga, different forms of breathing for different outcomes and EFT, I particularly like some of Jessica Ortner's work.

mymoonshift Hi and welcome, sorry can't help with organised groups, but the kettle's on, Pukka Nighttime for me right now, anyone else fancy a brew?

KatherineParr4 · 21/08/2020 09:49

Yes, you are so right. Nothing will ever be good enough, so give up!

BoomyBooms · 21/08/2020 10:01

Hello everyone, I'm so pleased to find this thread. I feel so drawn to it, and reading it feels incredibly soothing. So I would like to try to join in. Although I don't know what I'm doing! And I have a tiny baby so not much time to indulge myself in learning or reading. Any recommendations gratefully received. Thank you.

VioletCharlotte · 21/08/2020 10:37

Morning everyone, flying in to say hello. It's a wild and windy day here today - witching weather!

Rivierliedje
Sorry you've been feeling anxious, I howl you're feeling calmer this morning. For me, it depends on the type of anxiety. Sometimes exercise can really help, walking outside, swimming, yoga. Yoga is particularly good as the breathing really helps to calm your heart rate. Sometimes, if I need to feel nurtured I like to wrap myself in a blanket and snuggle up with a herbal tea and some biscuits. Watching or reading something gentle and familiar can be r era sky comforting.

With regards to 'mother wounds' it can help to remember that our mothers are carrying their own 'wounds' inflicted by their own upbringing. What we can do is to focus on our own healing, and breaking the cycle so as not to pass the wounds on to our own children.

Welcome to all our newcomers Smile

speakout · 21/08/2020 12:04

Just parking my broom for a few minutes. Perfect flying weather- wild and windy!

What wonderful weather!
flying weather indeed @speakout! Finally some sky and clouds rather than blanket grey. And wind and fresh air. I'll be out for a run in a bit and have done some laundry magic.

VioletCharlotte · 21/08/2020 20:59

It's fabulous weather! I love the wind. It makes my dog wild!
