Hi everyone

I am a new mumsnetter and a muslim (well trying to be a good one). Hope everyone doesn't mind me introducing myself as i live in Manchester( i know too far to just meet up with you guys) and would love to chat to other muslim mums for advice and mutual support (believe me ineed it!!!!). I have 2 DD's one who is 5 and the other who is 2, happily married to DH (not arranged marriage) between us we are struggling to bring proper muslim values into our home as we have never had the right guidance however prepared to take on board any advice and suggestions out there- does anyone know where i can get good kiddies books and video /dvd's /toys/educational material directed at muslim children - places like Toys r Us and other kiddy places are useless and would really like to educate them and me in our religion but in a fun and constructive way!!! any ideas?????
Thanks for reading this!

Salaaams kneez, welcome, I know what u mean about getting good muslim stuff, u should have some good isalmic shops in and around manchester which must sell the usual kids books and videos..have u tried in them?

kneez · 13/01/2005 12:46

Hi Sana

There are some shops in Rusholme but i find them too full on as an introduction for both girls - thanks for replying and keep chatting it's good to see muslim mums on these websites!!!

survivour · 17/01/2005 15:05

Selam girls, yes Sana that sounds great, Kneez, I have recently moved home, but I have a brochure which contains a lot of stuff you can order on-line or by post, they sell clothes, videos and books, even games, to teach our kids about Islam, and how to read in Arabic. I will search for it as I unpack. Let you know as soon as possible. And I live 13 minutes away from Heathrow Airport, so hop on a plane from Manchester to Heathrow???? I know its a long shot, but remember, the world is never too big..............

kneez · 21/01/2005 14:50

Thanks Survivor

Please do dig that website address out for me - i would really appreciate it as i can see myself ordering lots!!! and your right the world isn't that big a place so you never know i might just take you up on your invite!!!!

JuJuMoo · 22/01/2005 14:20

I am now on maternity leave but seem to be even busier running to and fro from the hospital, been told today the baby is a bit small at 5pds and 7ozs at 37 weeks, so bit worried about it all, have another scan next week

hated the consultant i saw today he wasnt very reassuring just kept going on about being induced at 40wks even though the placenta and the baby r fine..will wait and see

will have to leave the meet up now till after the baby

Hope all is well for all of u
