@Zaphodbebblebrox I also feel drawn to cornwall and feel rejuvenated by it. It's a long journey for us so only go very couple of years unfortunately. It must be lovely to be so close!

@Manicunicorn Cornwall is a 7-8 hour journey for us too! It's well worth the journey though, if you do brave the journey I recommend you visit Boscastle. It's a beautiful magical place and the museum of witchcraft is there too!

Can I also join in for cake and wise words round the aga? 😊

RootandBranches · 19/08/2018 19:10

Thank you Elphame and zaphodbebblebrox for your lovely book suggestions, I will order the Melusine Draco later on and Kate West, who I'm fairly sure I have heard of. Sounds familiar anyway!
I really like the idea of very everyday activities such as cooking being imbued with magical intent and also different herbs depending on what is needed at the time. I am going to research the different properties of various herbs and have a go at growing the ones we would use most as a family.

EnchantersNightshade · 19/08/2018 19:19

Ooh yes please, the more the merrier/cosier! As speakout says there is energy gathering here amongst us. Everyone welcome.

Also a Cornwall lover, in my previous upright life. Not in the crazy busy holiday season though.

The most gentle spiritual wisest person I've always been drawn to is Cornish. She described the colours of the angry dark sky above Boscastle just before the cloud burst that flooded the village in 2004 & caused such devestation. Rather scary to be caught in that. Nature & weather are such powerful forces. It takes my breath away.

EnchantersNightshade · 19/08/2018 19:22

Good luck with your herb growing @Rootandbranches. This has always brought me such joy. I feel sure there'll be bountiful crops for you, with your excellent user name Wink

Elphame · 19/08/2018 19:35

Ohh lots of new people - we're going to need more cake!

I do like the museum at Boscastle. It's been a while since I was able to get down there. It's a bit far for a day trip and a bit close to stay over....

ReginaOcarina · 19/08/2018 19:42

@EnchantersNightshade ah thank you! I'm so glad I found all of you lovely people, I hope you find some peace and happiness here too and I wish you well.

That sounds amazing! It must I've been terrifying to have been caught up in that. I agree- this was the first visit during school holidays and I was shocked how busy some places were. Luckily we are early birds and seemed to be leaving most places by the time hoards of people were arriving!

speakout · 19/08/2018 19:48

Such a lovely posts here- I am smiling.

Loving this empowerment and respect.
Too many of us to mention, but my heart lifts every time I see a new post on this thread.
From newcomers, old hands, those struggling, taking first steps unsure, those who need healing, or happy to teach, those who are feeling enthusiasm or unsure.

We are all equal, all totally worthy , I hope we all feel this is a hearth by the fireside that we can warm our toes and gather.

Flowerpower66 I'm not quite sure what you are asking here? Are you finding your day to day life is being affected or interrupted by your craft talents?

Ittakestwo Are you required to interact with these people or are they just around you? Those I had to interact with I used to throw up a fairly permeable shield ( think light mist rather than dense fog!) which gave me enough of a buffer.

For the rest I'd make my office door invisible so they didn't come in! That takes a bit of practice to get the shielding right but you're aiming for people really not to notice a door that is of course in plain sight. If you're in an open plan situation it's a bit harder as you need to make yourself not noticeable!

FitzsFool · 19/08/2018 21:38

Did someone mention cake? Smile

Just wanted to pop my head around the kitchen door to say hello to everyone and greet all the newcomers.

I will have to reread to fully process all the wonderful discussions taking place here. What a lovely supportive place this is becoming.

I’ve had a day full of positive energy today, interactions with both strangers and loved ones that have left me with a subtle ‘buzz’ and very warm feet!

The warm feet thing is a little odd but feels very nice.

Wishing toasty toes to you all!
(Snaffles slice of cake and shuffles off)

Zaphodbebblebrox · 19/08/2018 21:43

Beautiful words speakout The sentiment entirely resonates for me, I'm very much enjoying warming my toes by the hearth alongside the wonderful wise women gathering here. I agree with Elphame, we'll need more cake! It's turning out to be quite a gathering CakeBrew

mrsnolasco your DD sounds wonderful- certainly very in tune. I can't personally recommend any reading/ specific ways of facilitating her journey other than what it sounds like you're doing already. Validate her experience, take her seriously, it sounds like she has a strong sense of her own path. As someone who feels 'vibes' from others quite strongly, the only thing I would say would be to help her to understand that she doesn't have to absorb and 'carry' that energy. Elphame makes some very good suggestions above about protection in this way. Although again, she seems to be managing this well herself. I'd maybe read up about being an empath.

Lovely to hear more of people's thoughts on Cornwall. There are so many magical places there. I also love Tintagel, and the Nine Maidens stone row (Bodmin moor I think?) For a magical sea experience, Kynance Cove down near Lizard Point is my favourite. It's not known for its magical significance like the other places, but it very much feels that way to me

Zaphodbebblebrox · 19/08/2018 21:52

Hello Fitz! Didn't see you there when I posted. See, we definitely need more cake! Love to sound of your positive vibe day and warm feet! You must have 'heard' speakout talking about warming them by the hearth!

Potterurotter · 19/08/2018 21:55

Hello everyone, not sure what I am really but I do know I’m spiritual and believe in energy and light. I do tarot with cards my beloved grandmother used to do with me and if the house burnt down they are the only things I consider precious of the material things.

I have certainly felt the changes in the weather and atmosphere a shift is occurring :) hope everyone has a good week xx

RootandBranches · 19/08/2018 22:03

@EnchantersNightshade thank you, it will definitely be a steep learning curve for me - courgettes and potatoes are as ambitious as I've been so far!

Insomma1 · 19/08/2018 22:33

This thread is just incredible. There is so much positive energy my toes are tingling!!

GeeIneverthoughtofthat · 19/08/2018 23:20

Just checking in to say hi (waves to all). I have really enjoyed catching up on this lovely thread after a busy weekend of travelling and hospital visiting.

I am very tired now but am looking forward to a good night’s sleep and some self care this week. Then the coming season, cooking up some lovely things and hearing more from everyone. 😊

speakout · 20/08/2018 08:10

Good morning witchy friends!!

I have a crazy day making spell kits, candles, smudge potions. Won't have much time for anything else-although I will have to rustle up a meal at some point.
You could draw a pentacle in the dust in my house!!

Elphame was talking about Ikea the other day- it can be a trial going around these big shops, but Ikea is great for candles and votives, for spell work.
I also found this little gem in Poundland- a cute hare- now living with me- I love the huge ears,

I have a passion for hares.

As many of you will know hares have a long tradition connected to witchcraft, an animal of the moon and an embodiment of the goddess.

Some years ago we were having a very challenging time (not that unusual for us sadly) and every day an enormous rabbit used to visit our garden and stare at our house. This went on for weeks. Eventually things got a little easier and huge rabbit disappeared. I often wondered what that was all about.

GrumpyOldMare · 20/08/2018 08:42

Good to see a new thread for us.

Sending love and healing for those in need of it.
For those that are on the mend, fantastic,I'm glad for you.

Such a lovely time of year, the wheel is turning and there is a tang of autumn in the air. It suprises me that so many people think of August as summer when it's really autumn. Midsummer is 21/22 June,so august can't be summer. Now is the time of harvest, bonfires and mist over the fields. Blackberries to pick. A fire in the fireplace. The colours will soon start to change to orange, bronze and brown, with crispy leaves underfoot. Magical and beautiful.

speakout · 20/08/2018 08:46

LARLARLAND how lovely that the goddess came to watch over you during your difficult time.

OP posts:
speakout · 20/08/2018 08:50

GrumpyOldMare you describe autumn so beautifully, I get stupidly excited by autumn for all the reasons you describe.

I love all seasons, but a special fondness for autumn.

And it feels like autumn here in Scotland.

Our schools go back today, I have seen a few children walk past the front on my house in school uniform, and feel a little pang as this is the first time in 17 years that I don't have a child getting ready for school- my youngest starts University next month.

Love the hare speakout Yes funnily enough I did buy a load of candles at Ikea along with a new supply of kilner type jars for making chutneys and tinctures and lots of sloe gin (as well as the boring stuff, replacing broken and missing items for the holiday let).

It's feeling very autumnal here too. Even the sloes are ripe (and by ripe I mean softening as well as dark, they can be black but still not ripe enough to pick) along with the hawthorn and even the wild hips are reddening. I guess those new jars of mine will be needed sooner rather than later.

It's lunch and shopping in Glastonbury with a friend for me today. I have a trip up the Tor in mind too if there is time

LARLARLAND · 20/08/2018 09:47

Yes he hare is lovely. May have a mooch around myself to see if they have any locally.

Giggorata · 20/08/2018 12:54

I've got that Autumnal new term feeling, as I am due to return to work after being ill.. which hasn't actually been that bad, as I have rested and mused and meditated and written up my magical journal during the last blaze of summer.
The year seems to be turning quickly, I lit a fire last night and we're doing our Grain Moon ritual at the weekend.
We usually pick our sloes after the first frost.. the mistle thrushes generally get to the rowan berries before us. 😀
