Daily Gratitudes 2017

Lessstressedhemum · 01/01/2017 17:38

A nice, gentle thread for us all to count our blessing, to pause, breathe and be thankful for all the wee, small things that go right in our days.

Everyone is welcome, no matter our personal beliefs or faiths.

Today, I am grateful for a new year and a fresh start and for time spent with my family.x

Thanks x
Today I feel grateful that they don't know where I am and I'm unlikely to bump into them again.
I'm also grateful that there is a ton of fun stuff to do in the world ( and I'm going to have a bash at as much as I can)
Also for chai cos it's very comforting
And for negative test results for my girl.

Optimist1 · 16/05/2017 19:41

Thanks for the prayers, Less. My problem isn't unbearable, but temporarily brings me down in certain circumstances. I have top notch support from my grownup children, so they are the focus of my gratitude today. Smile

Lessstressedhemum · 17/05/2017 10:18

I'm glad things are OK. Life can be so difficult sometimes. It would be good if we could have a do over, wouldn't it, then we might be able to save ourselves some strife! I wish that a lot.

More sunshine after the rain
Rainbows - they always cheer me up
The ability to treat simple illness and injury at home with my herbs and stuff, - the dc think I am some sort of mad hedgewitchGrin

Silence

OP posts:
Optimist1 · 20/05/2017 21:03

Not sure if your last post was expressing gratitude for silence or remarking on lack of response to the penultimate one? If the latter, I've been fortunate enough to have had few difficult times in my life, so when things are a bit tough it puts all the good times into perspective. (I thought of you this morning when I pegged out the washing!)

Lessstressedhemum · 21/05/2017 14:47

It was being grateful for silence, Optimist. It's a rare thing in here.

My lavender is a late-flowering one, Less so I have yet to enjoy its glorious fragrance this year. Mine were taken as cuttings from my Dad's garden when I moved here 15yrs ago and still remind me of him when they're in flower.

Optimist1 · 31/05/2017 08:43

A beautiful early summer morning.
Leisure to enjoy today.

Lessstressedhemum · 31/05/2017 11:45

4 of my lavender plants and all my rosemary died over the winter. I am gutted because they attract loads of bees. I still have a couple of beautiful ones in full flower and I love to hear all the buzzing that surrounds them. I need to get some more and replant. Am planning a potted herb garden so I can grow more of my own for teas/tinctures/salves etc.

Line dry washing

DS3 has an offer for college next session - I am still awaiting him using his actor friend, who was on Outlander, to get me a signed photo (or something even better) of Sam Heughan. Perhaps, if he sticks with technical theater, he will be able to get me one himself Grin (fat chance, he is mortified by my wee crush)

Thank you, Optimist, it was indeed my birthday. I am now officially old, my oldest friend is taking me to the garden centre for lunch to celebrate! Glad your wee pet is improving, it's awful when they aren't well.

I have a vote. I'll use it, being mindful of all those who were/are disenfranchised.

oliversax · 16/06/2017 21:40

Back at work & not quite settled into routine yet... just catching up on posts from the last month. Love to read others gratitudes.

Bees (in honour of your poor plants less). Love to see them buzzing around gently at this time of year. My daughter is obsessed with them too.

My children, so lucky to have such wonderful girls. Had a lovely day in the sunshine today.

Everything we have. Lucky enough to lead a worry free, healthy, easy life. Enjoying it whilst it lasts.

So much going on at the moment that makes me feel great sadness (and anger) for others and all the more grateful for everything I have.

Optimist1 · 17/06/2017 06:25

Birdsong on an otherwise silent summer morning.
Another great drying day in prospect.

(You're so right, oliver - catastrophic events do put our lives into perspective. )

Optimist1 · 21/06/2017 07:38

There was a lovely moment yesterday that made me grateful, and I'm still smiling about it today. One of the hottest mornings of the year and the day that our council had designated for change of recycling/refuse arrangements. As a result the binmen had more than twice their usual workload. I heard men's voices enthusiastically singing 60's pop songs and looked out of the window to see a couple of them dancing the wheelie bins to the lorry. The whole crew were enjoying themselves and it really brightened my day. (Have sent complimentary email to the council). Smile

Lessstressedhemum · 26/06/2017 11:09

My tablet hasn't been letting me post for the past couple of weeks and I was getting antsy! I've had to borrow DD's chromebook, so this might all go horribly wrong. Blush

There are so many things that I am grateful for: friends, family, a roof over our heads, clean water on tap, food in the cupboards, the list could just go on and on. At the moment, I am especially grateful for

DS2, who just graduated top of his class from Scotland's top uni. Not bad for a boy who, we were told, would never be able to leave home and live independently or manage uni despite being phenomenally bright. Now, he just has to get a job and he will have proven everyone wrong.
Time spent with DS1 and his partner
Washing drying on the line
sitting here listening to the birds singing in a moment of peace and quiet

Star Star Star Star Star to your DS2, Less !

Good to have you back.

A pilates class that has left me relaxed and envigorated.
Beautiful summer day.
