Thank you for your prayers.

Much appreciated.

PandaG · 26/02/2007 20:14

Hi all

Glad DS had a lovely birthday Rosey

Sorry to hear you didn't get the job - as you say maybe it is for the best if the hours were longer than you thought JBW.

Well, I'd appreciate your prayers for me to be able to sleep tonight. I have just had a car crash. I am fine - I managed to drive straight into the side of another car, I was waiting to pull out of a side road and hit the accelerator and not the brake. The woman I hit is fine - she ended up coming home to my house for a cup of tea while we exchanged insurance details. I am just so thankful that the DC weren't in the car at the time - I had just dropped DS and his mate off at Beavers. A good friend ran me back to Beavers to pick them up, the car may be driveable, but after driving it home I am not getting back in it tonight. The other woman was very understanding, and appreciated my kindness, and admitting it was my fault - I know you are not supposed to, but what else could I say? Please pray too that I will have the nerve to get back in the car again soon.

Thanks guys (watery and still rather shocked)

Xavielli · 26/02/2007 20:19

WOOOT! Praise God! I'm back online! Yay!

CaptainDippy · 26/02/2007 20:36

Hey guys - Had sort of financial dicussion, but has all been v.amiable and good, which is an answer to prayer - esp considering what we've been like towards each other recently. We're each going to write down exactly what we spend and go from there.....

Panda - Oh honey - You poor thing!! [hugs] I'm glad DC's weren't with you either, but I am sorry it happened at all - Even though it may have been your fault - do not blame yourself - we all make mistakes (I should know as our car had a wee argument with a wall while I was driving the other day and has a massive scrape on the front bumper!! [whock]) Praying you'll find peace.... Sooo pleased the other woman was so nice! How are you doing??

JBW - Sorry you didn't get the job - Keep Trusting .....

Rosey - Happy Birthday DS!! Glad everything went so well - super stuff!!

V.tired here, going to go and watch a DVD (hopefully) and relax a bit, then toddle (ok, waddle ) off to bed .....

Hi guys
Just a quick quickie..if you know what I mean
Dave is doing good but he is not kicking on all cylinders at the moment. Can't quite put my finger on it but he's just not quite right..some may say he never has been but don't be cheeky!!!!
Don't know if you remember me sending an email a while ago re a top up of Tcells..in it I mentioned about there being a possibility of GvHD kicking off.The docs said they wanted to see him around 4/5 weeks after the top up because of GvHD I don't know if this is happening ,one of the signs is diarreaha...oh yes, there's no mistaking that one...I'm convinced we will be arrested soon for nuclear traces being found in the atmosphere over our house[mainly the drains!!!!!!!!].. or that its Dave body screaming at him cos he's been over doing it...then again we have a very big day head on Saturday and it could be a little kick back...................I JUST DON'T KNOW!!!!!!!!!!! If it is GvHD,I think they can deal with it if it gets too bad, they like to see abit of it but not too much..not sure how much too much is though
What ever it is its horrible and apart from Andrex profiting big time from us,its not very nice ,its been quite a tough week...I know you all are but please please keep praying for us won't you. I'm not worried re cancer etc,I just want things really pleasant, fun and life being normal for my poor David...you know what I mean don't you

Look forward to seeing you all on Saturday, just to let you know we have a routine hospital appointment on Thurs..nothing out of the ordinary, they will probably test him for GvHD,so I guess we'll know either way soon about the bowels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Bet you can't wait!!

MaryBS · 27/02/2007 07:50

Firstly, sorry for not being on here much! I've got so much on at the moment, I'm not sleeping properly for thinking about it... then because I'm so tired, I'm too tired to do anything about it! Not feeling very ... not sure what the word is, at the moment

Marsy, thanks for the update! So glad things are looking positive, but it does sound like he's going through the mill. Am praying for him.

CD praying for your money situation. Don't get too stressed please - 32 weeks eh? You're on the downward roll now...

Panda - hope you got a good night's rest. How are you feeling this morning? Thank God you and the other lady are OK though!

RL - hope your son had a good birthday and that it all went swimmingly!

LWTG - how are you today? Please rest in the knowledge that you did your best, and the success/failure of your marriage depends on others now. Keep praying and trusting in God that whatever happens, its for the best

MTGAA - pleased to see you in such good form. I always feel like a good service sets me up for the week! A spiritual chicken soup! LOL.

Better go, got the Vicar's daughter turning up this morning, as I'm taking her to school - and I'm not dressed yet!

CaptainDippy · 27/02/2007 11:14

Morning all! Must start new thread tomorrow - March already - wow!!

Thank you for the update on Dave and Sue Marsy - Continuing to pray for them. Esp praying that whatevers is "not quite right" can be healed .... they have been through so much, Praying for endurance and strength. How are you doing honey? How many ladies are you waiting to pop atm!!?

Hello Mary - Good to see you - Get some rest, young lady!! Praying that you can find rest and peace in all your busy-ness - I am palming the DD's off on friends tomorrow afternoon cos I really need a proper break - planning on doing "not a lot" - T'will be bliss .... hopefully!

I'll be back later, I am sure ....

sleepysooz · 27/02/2007 12:03

PandaG - hope you are ok today, lucky escape from injury, glad the lady was nice to you!

Notquitegrownup · 27/02/2007 12:29

Good morning all and God bless.

Great to see you back Mary, though don't feel guilty about not being around. I'm sure we all need to drop out from time to time to get rl under control. You'll be back, and we'll be praying for you in the meantime.

PandaG - so pleased that you are OK. Mistakes happen (as I remember explaining to a very very shaky policeman, a long time ago, whom I had very very nearly run into, forcing him to skid and drive off the road . He was very sweet about it. It's soooo good to know that we have a father God who helps us out in these situations.

Hi Xavielli and everyone else.

A quick reminder of BiblebasherRUs2, with the details of the planned meetup on 7 July, in case anyone hasn't seen it (assuming I can still do links!): BiblebashersRUs2

Hello Sooz and NQSTM! Thanks for the link NQSTM ...

Don't feel bad Podmog - You are not a crap mum AT ALL - babies weight does tend to fluctuate at this sort of age - It has nothing to do with your abilities as a mummy - Are you breast or bottle feeding? (Or both.) Don't let anyone make you feel bad - I am sure your little DS is fine, just having a little growth spurt or something - Just chill and have confidence in your abilites as a mum. Praying for you sweetheart. xxxx

OP posts:
MaryBS · 27/02/2007 15:35

NQSTM - problem is, I'm STILL in a pickle IRL, trying to cram everything in! The Time-Outs aren't working!

Just want to quickly mention, Weirdbird, I'll be down your neck of the woods the evening of 16 March and 17th March. That well known place beginning with L reopens then!

CaptainDippy · 27/02/2007 15:48

You NEED to priortise and get some rest, young lady!! You NEED to learn to say "no!!" (speaking from experience here.....) hugs]

Twiga · 27/02/2007 16:09

I'm sooo pants at keeping up just now - looking fwd to a new thread and this months summary so I can catch up properly! Been away at my parents for a wee visit, dual purpose in that my God-daughter was also celebrating her 1st birthday so meant dd and I could go to her party.

Been feeling really down about being home, but had a great weekend with friends and trips to a couple of local parks which really lifted things. Think my main struggle is that in Dumfries I made lots of Mummy friends who were also SAHM's and so had a lot of company through the week but here everyone but me is working even my pals with kids so I've been left to my own devices a lot more than in the last year. It will get better and things will settle but I never expected coming back to be so hard. Also dh is back to a rotten busy rota and all the preasures of a big teaching hospital so he's not around as much either - really need to give myself a big kick up the backside and just get on with it!

So an up-date; Phoebe's mouth is healing great, barely a mark left and eating back to normal - three meals a day plus snacks with great gusto! Dh has two interviews for peads surgery on 26th and 28th March - in Scotland and N.Ireland - would be great if he got one of these posts, we would know what the next 5 years entailed and there would be no break in his training or a need to reapply in the next round. The last part of his part 3 surgical exam is 3rd of March - it's a clincal/practical exam - would be great if he could get to his interviews and was able to say he'd completed this. Re-booked driving test for 31st March - could have done a bit earlier but with dh's interviews etc just wanted to get that and all the travelling it entails out of the way - here's hoping I can still fit behind the wheel by then.

Finally got to see a mw today and finally got refered for the additional scan I need - moving mid pg is such a pain - hoping an appt comes through in time for next week as is when I need to be seen. Meantime the wee bump is kicking a way like mad and seems to be fine so continuing to try and not worry - will be nice to get past this scan.

MaryBS · 27/02/2007 16:15

I know CD, but I love doing it all! It's hard because it's the first time I've done anything like this! I know where the priorities lie, its breaking stuff up into chunks and getting on with it that's hard!

Twiga!!!! Good to hear from you! So much going on in your life too! Praying for you and your DH!

roseylea · 27/02/2007 19:21

Hi everyone!

Twiga it sounds like you have a lot on your plate. If it helps at all I know what it's lik coming back to your home town and finding it much harder to settle than you expect.

Panda well thank God for his protection over you and the other lady. Are you okay today?

Hi CD? Enjoyyyyyyyyyyyyy your you-time tomorrow! PLan something really indulgent like a bubble bath or watch a fave movie or read a book...(that's what I'd do anyway! )

Hi Mary! [waves]

Well we are all fine, except for being a bit tired tonight after a busy weekend and a couple of busy days. This pm, I am making a Gruffalo costume for my dd to wear to school on Thurs for WBD!

mumtogusnalbie · 27/02/2007 20:21

Good evening everyone - I have just looked at the meet-up link and have found rooms at Travelodge in Reading for £15.00 per night for 6th and 7th of July. My only problem is that I suffer with panic attacks and so would not feel confident to come on my own with the kids in case I was ill. I might try and persuade my Mum and Dad to have a weekend away because I would really love to meet you all.

I am still praying for everyone but to mention everyone by name takes a lot of planning and thinking and as I have been at work for the last two days I am a bit frazzled - gonna flake out on the sofa any minute!!

Thank you all so much for praying for me and my boys over the last few weeks. Today I am feeling quite positive - H noticed I was not wearing my wedding ring for the first time today but he didn't say anything - just looked. It was a bit of an awkward moment but just what does he expect? Anyway - I only stopped 5 minutes after picking the boys up so not awkward for long!!

I have decided to try and make some quiet time each night to read my bible but really don't know where to start (have started at the beginning and not got much further previously!) so I am looking for some inspiration - does anyone have favourite passages that they would recommend as a good starting point?

God bless you all xxxx

CMan · 27/02/2007 21:09

Heya everyone!

feeling good good good. Excuse the name change, I've been playing on the shortened name thread. (you'll know me as CaptainCaveman!).

Didn't feed ds to the ducks on Sunday, we went swimming instead .

Prayers as ever for dsis as she started her 2 week intensive counselling yesterday. She seems positive, and her blood alcohol reading was 0.7 yesterday at 14.30, and today it was 0.3 at the same time. (I think 0.3 is the legal drink/drive limit) I must add, she doesn't have a car though, they are just checking how drunk the group is. They have 4 clients in the group and she thinks it is really good . She's been for 2 days running which is such a positive.

On the down side, I had dneice round for tea as I picked her up from nursery. We did some painting, then had tea, then watched a bit of Tom and Jerry followed by me chasing dneice and ds round and round our downstairs (you can run through in a big circle). When it was time to go, dneice said she wanted to stay at ours and when I asked her why, she said "because my mummy is always nasty to me" . I told her we'd tell mummy to be nice because she'd been such a good girl.
Alcoholism is such a nasty illness. My dsis would never choose to treat her dd like she does. She isn't physical with her but she has no patience at all, and doesn't discipline her, hence her behaviour suffers and the cycle continues....

God Bless you all, love and prayers xxx

MaryBS · 27/02/2007 22:13

Hi CMan! Praying for your dsis and for your dniece. I really hope and pray she'll (dsis) come through the other side and able to show her daughter how much she loves her.

Hi RL! I hope I haven't stopped you from making the Gruffalo costume! My two love the Gruffalo (A Gruffalo, whats a gruffalo? why didn't you know? ). You know we were on the phone for 1h 42mins???

MTGAA - those travelodge deals are good aren't they? I've booked up a few of them in advance. We're holidaying in Devon and Cornwall this year, and have booked a £15 room for on the way down and on the way back. I do hope you'll make the meet-up!

Where to start with your bible... hmm, I'd start with Mark's gospel. Its the shortest of the gospels and was probably written first. If you get a copy of "Mark for Everyone" by Tom Wright, he does a lovely job of talking you through it. What he does is he breaks up the gospel in manageable chunks, then talks about each chunk. He does the other gospels and other books as well, but Mark I think is a good one to start with (you're talking to someone who until last year was a real "bible novice", to my shame! . Of course, you don't HAVE to use Wright, because Mark's gospel is so readable anyway. Our tutor always said there was a sense of urgency about that gospel, a need to get to the point.

mumtogusnalbie · 27/02/2007 22:18

Thanks for that MaryBS - I am off to bed shortly so I will read some of Mark before I drift off into a lovely deep sleep!! God Bless

MaryBS · 28/02/2007 08:36

That's good! Hope you found the suggestion right for you!

Can I run something by you all please? I have to produce a piece of "reflective" work, possibly using a picture, with some sort of words to aid meditation. From the Old Testament.

This is what came to me at about 4am! A series of 7 digital photographs, representing Creation, with the appropriate verses overprinting the photographs, and a prayer to accompany each one, the idea is you look at each picture, pray, then meditate in silence before moving onto the next one. What do you think?

Notquitegrownup · 28/02/2007 10:18

Good morning all. That sounds lovely Mary! It sounds achievable - creation is still all around us, so easier to get photos of than other parts of the OT (smiles to self, thinking that I would have chosen a favourite passage or story, and then wondered how on earth to get photos of, say, Goliath!!) - but it also sounds very very useable. Can we have a copy when you are done please?

MTGA - £15 is a real bargain in these parts. Well found! I'm happy to put together a what-to-do-on-Sunday-round-here guide for those who are making a weekend of it, in July. Do hope that you do make it. How old are your dcs?

I am hoping to start on the Tom Wright books too, as I'm not getting as much out of my old bible notes as I used to. I was wondering whether anyone would be interested in starting another thread, so that we could read the same bits and post our thoughts/questions on them. It would be tempting to follow Mary's course, so that she could feed in some juicy bits of info for us, when she's not too busy! What do others think?

Special prayers for your dsis and dniece, CCM. Is your neice old enough to tell her that her Mum loves her very much but is poorly, which makes her grumpy?

God bless all.

sleepysooz · 28/02/2007 10:29

MaryBS - you clever thing! that sounds a lovely idea, you sound just like me, (mind works overtime at night) the best made plans come into action at 3am!

I find it so hard to keep up with this thread, I want to say something to each and everyone, but by the time I get to the top of the thread I have forgotton who said what!

Anyway, thanks for the biblebasher2 link (just a minute while I scan down to see who put that up) sorry NQSTM, hope to see you all there (Oxford) I have never been, I hope I can plan a successful trip there!

Hia CD, hope you are ok atm, and have I missed a welcome to a fellow sleepy, sleepychunky! I promise I will make a better effort at posting to different people, I work 4-10pm and have the twins in the daytime, so I just get snatched times on the computer before the twins want to play cbeebies (on computer)

Oh happy days

Notquitegrownup · 28/02/2007 10:47

PS CCM did you notice that special offer at the Travelodge for July. I will look up B & bs for you sometime, but they tend to be £50 per night rather than £15 in Oxford area (unless you fancy joining Sleepysooz on a campsite!)
