Welcome to a new prayer thread to take us into the summer. This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what's going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... ALittleFaith, especially for her dad, who has been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease;

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of the ways in which we can work to make life easier for our autistic friends, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes;

... Anjelica27, as she tries to find ways to support her DS through his mental health problems and self-harm;

... AnxiousKeziah, following the loss of her baby DS;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; for good support for her DD and DS; and for her mum;

... BlueTinkerbell, thanking God for the safe arrival of her beautiful DD4;

... Bsshbosh, who has terminal cancer, for the best possible quality of life for her for as long as possible; also for her DH and DD as they travel this road with her;

... DizzyDaffodil, who is struggling, asking God to be with her and for her to find RL support at this time;

... DontstepontheMomeRaths, for her busy life as a single mum, and for the wonderful work she does through her church supporting people going through separation and divorce;

... DutchOma, thanking God for the wonderful support that she provides for so many on here;

... FaithLoveandHope, for her mental health; for decisions about her academic work; for her STB-FIL who has been diagnosed with cancer; and for her relationship with her DP;

... fakenamefornow, thanking God that things have taken a turn for the better for her;

... howtoapproachthis, for her health, following her diagnosis with CFS and for her to find support for herself and her DD;

... HydrochloricTulip, for stresses at home and at work;

... innerstrength100, for strength to decide what to do in the aftermath of the break-up of her relationship last year and the unexpected coming back into her life of her ex;

... Kaykat, continuing to pray for her as she goes through the stressful and painful process of divorce; praying, in particular, that she is able to find continue to support her DS through this process;

... LegallyBlonde77, as she goes through the adoption process - praying for a match very soon and for her family to be complete;

... LifeofBriony, for problems in her relationship with her DH;

... littlehouseinthebigwoods, for problems in her relationship with her controlling DH;

... MadHairDay, for her ongoing health issues;

... PositiveAttitude, especially for her mum who has dementia and for her dad, who finds it hard to accept help; for her DD2 recovering from a scary reaction to a dog-bite overseas, and for her whole family; for her studies and her role within her church; and for her and her DH as they plan new and exciting ways of working with the people of Cambodia;

... QuestionofFaith, as she tries to rebuild her life with her DH following his mental health problems and withdrawal from her;

... SESthebrave, for problems at work; also for her MIL who has had a cancer diagnosis;

... TooBusyByHalf, as she explores and hopefully rediscovers her faith;

... weegiemum, for her continued recovery from her very scary infection and septicaemia, and also for her DD's continued progress in overcoming her anorexia;

... ZipadiSoozi, for her dad who has dementia and for her mum and the whole family as they find ways to support him in this; also for her BIL who has cancer;

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors including: Badvoc, BlessedAssurance, BlueSkies80, CaulkheadUpNorth, CharlotteCollins, chocolateteapot, cloutiedumpling, CocoaBean, DeladionInch, EilisCitron, FlabbyMummy, Gingercurl, JugglingFromHereToThere, ktef, legohurtswhenyoustandonit, LollipopViolet, LostinChilli, MaryBS, MrsPixieMoo, niminypiminy, ninetynineonehundred, PandaG, Pipbin, RoomForALittleOne, ScarletDancer, thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, weegiemum, WobblyRainbow, Zing and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). We pray for our muslim sisters over in the tea-room, at a time when many feel afraid in a world which seems suspicious of their faith, praying for peace and understanding between all faiths. And we pray for those who read and pray but don't post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God's love.

Keep Your people, Lord,
in the arms of Your embrace.
Shelter them under Your wings.
Be their light in darkness.
Be their hope in distress.
Be their calm in anxiety.
Be strength in their weakness.
Be their comfort in pain.
Be their song in the night. Amen

Hi Bes some days are just like that, aren't they? Glad your head was ok. How old are your DCs? Is it sunny where you are? We are relishing the weather today, and unexpected days at home, although my DD2 is a bit poorly.
Cheering up prayers coming your way. Hope they reach you.

BlackeyedSusan · 26/05/2015 18:23

thanks too.must have worked as I have finished hoovering and cleaning up the dc's room. need to find a sheet and some pillow cases. also there is quite a bit to put back in there.

PositiveAttitude · 26/05/2015 18:31

Toobusy I have been praying for you and your DP. Praying that DP will accept that you want to investigate your faith and I would encourage you to just take one step at a time. God will lead you. (sorry, not read your other thread, so may have some things wrong.)

MHD How are you now? Prayers that you are OK and having fun with the DC this week.

Ok, so life has gone a little bit crazy here again. Not only am I run ragged with the parent situation, we are in the middle of setting up a charity to help some children in the slums in Phnom Penh to get sponsored for their schooling to give them a hope for their future.
On top of that we are setting up a business - importing handmade handbags from Cambodia - a CAmbodian friend who became a Christian while we were there is employing some girls who were sex workers, became Christians and our friend wants to give them work so that they can feed their families without having to go back to prostitution. Our first consignment has just arrived so all exciting there.
BUT....... Dh has been unhappy at work for a while, but we had discussed him giving up work and it was certainly on the cards if the business takes off. But true to form DH has already told work that he is leaving......yesterday.......he forgot tot tell me!!! Shock So we are totally in God's hands again. Been there quite a few times before now, so I should be used to it.
First time he did this, 10 years ago we agreed that he would hand his notice in.
Second time he went to work one morning and when he walked in the door at the end of the day he told me he had handed his notice in.
This time he even forgot to tell me. We were sat having a chat over a cuppa this afternoon when the conversation went a little weird. He had just not told me that he had spoken with his boss yesterday, but thought that he had told me .....so we had a weird few seconds of my brain freezing until I realised what he had done.
Hey Ho....another it step of faith. I should be used to it by now! It certainly improves my prayer life!!! Hmm

PositiveAttitude · 26/05/2015 18:32

Oh, people in RL don't know yet, so please don't out me! thanks.

PositiveAttitude · 26/05/2015 19:07

We sang it in church last week and we both felt a spiritual prodding about it. Now I know why. This is going to be our daily prayer.

TooBusyByHalf · 26/05/2015 20:09

Thanks for your prayers PA. (You didn't get anything wrong!)

Your new business sounds great. Good luck with it, Your DH obviously believes it will succeed and I'm sure it will Smile

BlackeyedSusan · 26/05/2015 23:22

they are both asleep in their room! a lovely clean hoovered room... shame the rest ofthe house has gone to pot while I have been doing that.

Tuo · 27/05/2015 00:09

Hello. Have been away for a couple of days but am back now and praying for all, but especially tonight for:

TooBusy - asking God to be with her on her journey; and also asking God to be with her DP and with all those who view their loved-ones' faith with fear and incomprehension;

PA and MrPA in their new venture, and as they face the future in the light of MrPA's decision to leave his job; also continuing to pray for PA's parents and for her DD2 (how is she doing, PA?);

MHD - praying for her health to continue to improve this week;

FLaH - for her various worries and stresses;

Kay - hoping for a peaceful half-term for her DS and for the ongoing situation regarding her divorce;

BES for more reliable behaviour from her ex and for the ongoing tidying operation;

wirrin for your DSis;

Soozi for your parents and your BIL;

and for the young woman known to Oma's friends who has had her transplant; and for the MN-er whose DD has the brain/spinal problem.

Stil thinking about Pentecost, i've found this - another prayer of St Augustine, but about the Holy Spirit. Not sure I can live up to it, but I shall pray it aspirationally (which is, perhaps, the only way):

Breathe in me O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy.
Act in me O Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy.
Draw my heart O Holy Spirit, that I love but what is holy.
Strengthen me O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy.
Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy. Amen.

Thank you for that TUO, lovely prayer x

KayKat · 27/05/2015 06:44

Thanks for the new thread and for thinking of me. Not really having a peaceful half term as DS is with ex and he will spend the time brainwashing him to hate me. I already have enough trouble with DS often telling me what a terrible mother I am but he will be even more difficult when he gets back. I just keep praying that this time he will recognise the lies. Surely one day soon he will be old enough. On top of that there is a lot of legal stuff going on. I may have been a little too organised and opinionated up until now as my solicitor seems to think I always know what decisions to make but I've got to the point now I really don't have a clue what to do.

PositiveAttitude · 27/05/2015 06:45

Thank You Tuo. DD2 is not enjoying the frequent rabies jabs she is needing for a month, but in herself she is feeling well now, thank you. She is coming home tomorrow for us to go to a wedding on friday, but has to return to London for the next jab on Monday.

Wedding of my work colleague on Friday. So happy for him. Lovely lovely man of God. Crazy man and lovely wife. I love them both.

DD1 has taken a bit of a nosedive on her journey of getting through the depression tunnel. Please pray that this is just a blip and she can get back on track. She has come soooooo far.

FaithLoveandHope · 27/05/2015 08:04

Thank you Tuo I hope your trip away went well. PA I often listen to that song, it's great. Thanks for sharing it. Praying for your business and for DD. Lord I just pray this is a blip and that she will soon be back on the right path and seeing your light shining through.

Yesterday's Taize daily prayer was really good but i dont know how to go back to see it. Today's is almost as good though. I've copied and pasted part of it:

Lord, make our lives a temple of the Holy Spirit. Grant each of us the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness. Send your comforting Spirit to all who are in trouble and distress. Send your comforting Spirit to all who are victims of injustice. Holy Spirit, in you we find the consolation with which Christ can flood our lives. Your presence is offered to each person—and we sense that the essential has already been accomplished in us.

Lord help each and every one of us to feel your Holy Spirit and bless us and those whom we love and pray for this day.

BlackeyedSusan · 27/05/2015 21:24

BlackeyedSusan · 27/05/2015 22:21

sorry got interrupted...

hope that she makes a good recovery.

Dutchoma · 27/05/2015 22:41

Thanks for the update, wirrinboffin. I hope her recovery is swift and complete.

SESthebrave · 27/05/2015 22:49

Reading through and praying...

Wanted to update you all on MIL's biopsy result as well which came back today. They have now said the lump in her leg is free of cancer!!!
They still want to remove it within the next couple of months but this is a long way from the "aggressive tumour" diagnosis we had a month. I can only put this down to the power of prayer so thank you.

Dutchoma · 27/05/2015 23:05

So pleased for you SES Let's hope she ls well during the time she is waiting and that all the worry she has had is not having too great an impact on her.

BlackeyedSusan · 28/05/2015 00:15

yay ses.

tis shit though waiting ses. mum had "cancer" that they destroyed in the biopsy. was a horrible 8 month wait to find out it was all ok. a relief in the end. hoping you can all deal with the weird emotions of having been on the edge and now not being and the what the hell had we to go through all that for.

ZipadiSoozi · 28/05/2015 00:45

Good news SES continued prayers for her recovery x

BlackeyedSusan · 28/05/2015 10:50
