Welcome to a new prayer thread to take us into the summer. This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what's going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... ALittleFaith, especially for her dad, who has been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease;

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of the ways in which we can work to make life easier for our autistic friends, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes;

... Anjelica27, as she tries to find ways to support her DS through his mental health problems and self-harm;

... AnxiousKeziah, following the loss of her baby DS;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; for good support for her DD and DS; and for her mum;

... BlueTinkerbell, thanking God for the safe arrival of her beautiful DD4;

... Bsshbosh, who has terminal cancer, for the best possible quality of life for her for as long as possible; also for her DH and DD as they travel this road with her;

... DizzyDaffodil, who is struggling, asking God to be with her and for her to find RL support at this time;

... DontstepontheMomeRaths, for her busy life as a single mum, and for the wonderful work she does through her church supporting people going through separation and divorce;

... DutchOma, thanking God for the wonderful support that she provides for so many on here;

... FaithLoveandHope, for her mental health; for decisions about her academic work; for her STB-FIL who has been diagnosed with cancer; and for her relationship with her DP;

... fakenamefornow, thanking God that things have taken a turn for the better for her;

... howtoapproachthis, for her health, following her diagnosis with CFS and for her to find support for herself and her DD;

... HydrochloricTulip, for stresses at home and at work;

... innerstrength100, for strength to decide what to do in the aftermath of the break-up of her relationship last year and the unexpected coming back into her life of her ex;

... Kaykat, continuing to pray for her as she goes through the stressful and painful process of divorce; praying, in particular, that she is able to find continue to support her DS through this process;

... LegallyBlonde77, as she goes through the adoption process - praying for a match very soon and for her family to be complete;

... LifeofBriony, for problems in her relationship with her DH;

... littlehouseinthebigwoods, for problems in her relationship with her controlling DH;

... MadHairDay, for her ongoing health issues;

... PositiveAttitude, especially for her mum who has dementia and for her dad, who finds it hard to accept help; for her DD2 recovering from a scary reaction to a dog-bite overseas, and for her whole family; for her studies and her role within her church; and for her and her DH as they plan new and exciting ways of working with the people of Cambodia;

... QuestionofFaith, as she tries to rebuild her life with her DH following his mental health problems and withdrawal from her;

... SESthebrave, for problems at work; also for her MIL who has had a cancer diagnosis;

... TooBusyByHalf, as she explores and hopefully rediscovers her faith;

... ZipadiSoozi, for her dad who has dementia and for her mum and the whole family as they find ways to support him in this; also for her BIL who has cancer;

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors including: Badvoc, BlessedAssurance, BlueSkies80, CaulkheadUpNorth, CharlotteCollins, chocolateteapot, cloutiedumpling, CocoaBean, DeladionInch, EilisCitron, FlabbyMummy, Gingercurl, JugglingFromHereToThere, ktef, legohurtswhenyoustandonit, LollipopViolet, LostinChilli, MaryBS, MrsPixieMoo, niminypiminy, ninetynineonehundred, PandaG, Pipbin, RoomForALittleOne, ScarletDancer, thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, weegiemum, WobblyRainbow, Zing and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). We pray for our muslim sisters over in the tea-room, at a time when many feel afraid in a world which seems suspicious of their faith, praying for peace and understanding between all faiths. And we pray for those who read and pray but don't post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God's love.

Keep Your people, Lord,
in the arms of Your embrace.
Shelter them under Your wings.
Be their light in darkness.
Be their hope in distress.
Be their calm in anxiety.
Be strength in their weakness.
Be their comfort in pain.
Be their song in the night. Amen

Hello all. Just sticking my head round the door to say that I've prayed for all needs as I've been reading through the messages over the past week or so. I just haven't had much to say myself. However, tomorrow is an important day so I could really use some prayers that the day goes well if you have some to spare.

BlackeyedSusan · 31/05/2015 17:10

good luck dizzy.

typical . he had a legitimate excuse this time for not being on time.

been to the supermarket and dd bought mum some plants for her birthday. havew planted them. also dealt with an enormous number of slugs. no wonder I come back to bare sticks instread of lovely plants.

really late goinghome. need to leave after my snack.

BlackeyedSusan · 31/05/2015 20:35

finally arrived home.

guess what has turned up in my kitchen?

NoRoomForALittleOne · 31/05/2015 20:42

Tentatively poking my head back in...

Dutchoma · 31/05/2015 21:36

Welcome back, Room I have a feeling that not everyone on this thread has quite caught up with your latest exploits.. Grin

NoRoomForALittleOne · 31/05/2015 22:22

Are you referring to DS2?

Tuo · 31/05/2015 23:18

Ooh, welcome back Room - please please fill us in!! It's lovely to see you.

Prayers also for Dizzy especially, for tomorrow and ongoing.

Also for all involved in exam season, whether taking them, marking them, or supporting DC through the process.

Each day and each night, may the wisdom of the Wonderful Counsellor guide us. May the strength of the Mighty God defend us. May the love of the Everlasting Father enfold us and may the blessing of the Prince of Peace rest upon us; now and always. Amen.

I don't think you have mentioned him yet or am I wrong?

BlackeyedSusan · 01/06/2015 07:31

got to go and wake the boy. he will be cross. oh dear.

BlackeyedSusan · 01/06/2015 09:43

they are both at school. I am having breakfast, then I have to get on and do stuff. anything really. a whole long list of stuff. I have no motivation, much like every monday after coming home from mothers.

DizzyDaffodil · 01/06/2015 12:18

So far so good, thank you. Off for round 2 now.

BlackeyedSusan · 01/06/2015 15:58

hope it went well.

Operation flat tidy:I have been opening post. this is a major achievement as I hate post opening. I have been filing post and dealt with some that required action. Also got round to ordering some equipment for dd. and little bit of damp dusting, clening the stairs, and general tidying in the hall. it is still a mess, but it all helps, even if to stop it getting worse.

NoRoomForALittleOne · 01/06/2015 18:09

So DS2 (DC5) will be 8 weeks old on Wednesday. It's going OK-ish. DH has just gone away for 24 hours and I'm about ready to kill someone. DD3 has already had two dirty nappies and gone fishing in both of them while I was cooking tea. Then when I was about to sit down and eat my tea, DS2 filled his nappy. While I was changing it, DD3 threw her tea on the floor. And now DS2 is tired but has had his sleep disturbed by DS1 being noisy so often that he can't sleep and is crying instead. So, which one do I take out first? Wink

Dutchoma · 01/06/2015 19:12

Do a Susannah Wesley and sit in the kitchen with an apron over your head

NoRoomForALittleOne · 01/06/2015 20:51

But she had 16 children. She has earnt her apron time!

NoRoomForALittleOne · 01/06/2015 20:59

On a more serious note, I am really anxious about being without DH tonight. He always deals with any of the older children if they wake up and gets up early with DD3. I always deal with DS2 (I'm BFing so I have to). Tonight/tomorrow morning I have to do it all and get everyone out on time for school. I'm feeding DS2 propped up in bed in my pyjamas right now. Having been ill over half term and DS2 being ill as well, I'm shattered and am feeling intensely jealous of DH's mini retreat.

SESthebrave · 01/06/2015 21:44

Room - congratulations on the arrival of DS2 Smile

I remember feeling dread when DH was away the first time and I only have 2 DC!
It may be one of those where if you psych yourself up for minimal sleep and lots of interruptions from all 5, it may not seem that bad in reality.
Prayers for as calm a night as possible.

SESthebrave · 01/06/2015 21:45

Is it worth preparing a box with a book / stickers/colouring in for DD3 for the morning so she has something to occupy herself?

TooBusyByHalf · 01/06/2015 22:02

room 5DC is quite enough to earn apron time! When I had 3DC under 4 - including twins - I was hopeless when DP went away. Time passes and it will all be over soon Smile

Prayers for you and for everyone this evening who needs a calm night or a good sleep.

Dutchoma · 01/06/2015 22:11

Praying that he Lord will bless you with sleeping children tonight and protect you from every anxiety.

ZipadiSoozi · 01/06/2015 23:09

Prayers for all you yummy mummies with young dc, I remember the sleepless nights and rushed school mornings with ds1 when I had my dts - l pray the night goes smoothly. X

Tuo · 01/06/2015 23:27

Room - many congratulations! It's really good to hear from you. Praying for a quiet night for you... and in the morning, remember that it's for mornings like these that the good Lord blessed us with the brains to invent the DVD player. (And the Bad Mother award goes to...!)

Dizzy - how did the rest of your day go? I hope you are OK.

On this stormy night, a reminder, courtesy of Julian of Norwich... A lovely friend mentioned this to me the other day, and I was then moved to look it up to pass on to someone else, so I thought I'd also share it with you. May we, none of us, be overcome, whatever storms assail us.

“He said not 'Thou shalt not be tempested, thou shalt not be travailed, thou shalt not be dis-eased'; but he said, 'Thou shalt not be overcome'.”

OP posts:
BlackeyedSusan · 02/06/2015 07:21

morning.

well, so far not overcome, but can definitely tick off all the rest!

KayKat · 02/06/2015 07:38

Could I ask you to all remember me in your prayers today? I won't explain the reason just yet. Thanks everyone.

BlackeyedSusan · 02/06/2015 12:10

prayers kay.
